Broyles Award semifinalists announced
Four SEC assistant coaches are among the 15 semifinalists for the Broyles Award, announced Tuesday by the Frank & Barbara Broyles Foundation.
The award goes to the top assistant coach in college football. The winner will be announced at a luncheon Dec. 5 at the Little Rock Marriott.
Alabama offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brian Daboll, Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker, and Mississippi State defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Todd Grantham are the four SEC assistant coaches who are part of the semifinalists group.
Other nominees include Clemson co-offensive coordinator/running backs coach Tony Elliott, Iowa State defensive coordinator/ safeties coach Jon Heacock, Miami defensive coordinator Manny Diaz, Notre Dame defensive coordinator Mike Elko, Oklahoma offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh, TCU defensive coordinator Chad Glasgow, Central Florida offensive coordinator Troy Walters, Southern California offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Tee Martin, Washington defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, Washington State defensive coordinator/secondary coach Alex Grinch, and Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard.
None of the 15 semifinalists have been finalists for the award. An 18-member selection committee will pick five finalists.
