BELLA VISTA — Carol Ann Fox, age 80, of Bella Vista, went home to be with her Lord and Savior unexpected­ly on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017.

Carol was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmothe­r. She was born on Feb. 5, 1937, in St. Louis, Mo., to Elmer and Virginia Hashagen. She was raised from age 5 by Elmer and Wilma (Pohlmann) Hashagen.

Carol was a member of New Life Christian Church since 1992.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Loren Fox in 2010 and her parents.

Survived by those who will cherish her memory are her three children: Catherine Simmons (Randy) of Centralia, Mo.; Stanley Fox II of Oella, Md.; and Lorraine Fox of Bella Vista, Ark.; one brother, Richard Hashagen (Sherry) of St. James, Mo., one grandchild and three great-grandchild­ren.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m. at New Life Christian Church with Pastor Mark Galloway officiatin­g.

BELLA VISTA — Lawrence Allen Pfeifer, known to his loved ones as “Larry,” “Dad,” or “Grandpa,” passed away on Dec. 24, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonvill­e.

He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 46 years; his four children; seven grandchild­ren; a brother and sister; and a large loving family who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother; and many friends and relatives.

Larry was born in Chicago, Ill., on July 13, 1944, to Helen and James Pfeifer. Larry was working in Chicago as a computer operator for Johnson & Johnson when he was drafted into the Army and stationed at West Point, where he taught computers to the cadets.

Upon leaving the Army, he returned to Johnson & Johnson where he met Peggy Muller. Both knew they had found someone incredible and married in 1971 after a whirlwind romance.

His 35 years in informatio­n services at Johnson & Johnson brought Larry and his family from Chicago, to New Jersey, to Michigan, and finally to Northwest Arkansas where he eventually retired.

In retirement, Larry enjoyed golfing, fishing, Corvettes, music and volunteeri­ng for the Cancer Challenge.

He loved playing cards, reading to his grandkids and rooting for his beloved Cubbies. Larry could fix or build just about anything and it was always done right!

A Mass of the Resurrecti­on will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m.

BELLA VISTA — Graveside services for R.D. Shoulders will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport, La., with the Rev. William Peeples officiatin­g.

Mr. Shoulders, 93, of Bella Vista, Ark., and formerly of Shreveport, passed away on Dec. 24, 2017, following a brief illness. Born Jan. 25, 1924, in Clarksvill­e, Texas, to the late Luther and Carrie Evett Shoulders, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Anita Ruth Potter Shoulders and his twin brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Shoulders.

He is survived by his son, Robert David Shoulders and wife Priscilla; his granddaugh­ter, Susan Shoulders Provenza and husband Joseph; great-grandchild­ren, Jacob Anthony and Abigail Grace Fontana, all of Bella Vista, Ark.

Mr. Shoulders graduated from Greenwood High School, Greenwood, La., in 1941. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy serving his country as a fighter pilot until the end of WWII at which time he attended Centenary College and Southern Methodist University obtaining a master’s degree of religious education. Mr. Shoulders was an ordained Methodist Minister serving as associate pastor at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, La.

As a businessma­n, he served as executive director of Goodwill Industries until his retirement in 1986.

COMBS — Danny Eugene Patrick, 63, of Combs, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at his home. He was born June 19, 1954, in Fayettevil­le, to John Harvey and Anna Lee Patrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 31 years, Iva E. Patrick; brother, Russell Patrick; and infant daughter, Kimberly Ann Patrick.

Survivors include his daughter, Beth Goff and husband Stephen of Springdale; grandchild­ren, Scott Patrick, Ireland Gregrich and Michael Goff; sisters, Joyce Shepherd and husband Donald of Combs, Laura McLeroy of Fayettevil­le and Connie Foster and husband Terry of Hartman, Ark.; brothers, Norman Patrick and wife Sheila of Elkins and Austin Patrick and wife Pam of Combs; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at the Community Building at Patrick Cemetery with Pastor Harry Harriman officiatin­g. Visitation will be an hour prior to service and burial will follow at Patrick Cemetery.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — William “Bill” Carpenter, 81, of Fayettevil­le, passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2017. He was born Nov. 27, 1936, in Hebbronvil­le, Texas, the son of Sidney Carpenter and Esther Watson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Don Carpenter and sister, Ann Arney, both of Texas and wife Daphna.

He was an Army veteran, who served and was deployed during the Korean War.

When he was younger, he loved training horses and was a calf roper in many rodeos. The family moved from Texas to be farmers in Brentwood, Ark. After retiring, Bill and Daphna moved to their dream home on Beaver Lake. Bill loved fishing and was an extremely gifted woodworker, to which his family has the privilege of owning many of his homemade treasures.

Bill had a deep love for the game of baseball and some of Bill’s proudest times were getting to watch his four boys play. He was also an avid Razorback baseball fan, attending many games in the company of his sons. In the days of retirement, Bill and Daphna gained a new love of golf, which they enjoyed together.

He is survived by his four sons, Scott Carpenter and wife Kristi of West Fork, Jay Carpenter and wife Jackie of Springdale, Bubba Carpenter and wife Crystal of Fayettevil­le, Dean Carpenter and wife Michelle of Fayettevil­le; and eight grandchild­ren, Dylan, Jordan, Kami, Jayci, Cade, Ty, Hallie and Dalton. He was a very proud Grandpa and will be dearly missed by his Family.

Cremation arrangemen­ts are by Sisco Funeral Chapel and a private visitation for the family has been held. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le at a pending date.

GRAVETTE — Ruston Roberts, 29, of Gravette, Ark., passed away Dec. 29, 2017, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonvill­e. He was born June 12, 1988, to Bo and Stella Roberts in Tahlequah, Okla.

Ruston graduated from Gravette High School. He attended the University of Arkansas from 2006 to 2009. He was a tennis player and he volunteere­d with Faith Bible Church at Care and Share in Gravette. Ruston will always be fondly remembered as a compassion­ate and witty young man.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparen­ts, Marion and Maxine Roberts; maternal grandparen­ts, William and Marie Buzzard; aunt and uncle, Jeanette and Al West and numerous aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish his memories are his parents; a brother, Willie Roberts; and sister, Kannithia (Michael) Brown; two nieces, Kammie and Chesney Yates; and three cousins, Koda, Triton and Keilei.

LINCOLN — Noah A. Couch, age 84, of Lincoln, Ark., passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 28, 1932, in Thorne, Ark., the youngest of eight children. He was the son of the late Bordie F. Couch and Ora Venice (Whitmire) Couch.

Noah served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956 as EN2. He met his wife of 63 years, Barbara Jean (Ferreria) Couch while he was stationed in California.

After the Navy, Noah and Barbara remained in California and later moved to Arkansas where Noah began his career as a carpenter. He continued to work as a carpenter until his retirement. Noah was a reserve police officer for Lincoln, Ark. He loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family and friends.

Preceded in death by his father Bordie F. Couch; mother Ora Venice (Whitmire) Couch; seven siblings, Mabel Todd, Arthur Ewell Couch, Lela Patrick, Reba Brown, Thomas Afton Couch, Miles Edgar Couch, Leah Cunningham and one great-granddaugh­ter, Isabelle Lawless.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Couch; along with six children, Kenneth Couch of Farmington, Ark., Ron and Terri Couch of Picayune, Miss., John and Roxann Brown of West Fork, Ark., Mike and Venus Bryan of Bentonvill­e, Ark., Shelly Witt of Springdale, Ark., and Allen Couch of Farmington, Ark.; 11 grandchild­ren, June Couch, Kenneth Couch Jr., Mathew Couch, Shannon Couch, Nichole Couch, Christina Lawless, Jessica Long, Adam Brown, Amanda Lanham, Courtney Sample and Sean Couch; 16 great-grandchild­ren; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, 2 p.m., at the Luginbuel Funeral Home, in Prairie Grove, Ark., with pastors Eddie Samuels and Gary Jewell performing the ceremony. The family will greet friends from 6-7 Tuesday at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Ark.

LITTLE ROCK— Lee Arthur Munson was born on April 15, 1937, the eldest of three children, to an American father, A.L. Munson, and a Canadian mother, Anna Marie Carr, in Claresholm, Alberta, Canada.

When he was 2 years old, the family moved to the orchard country of South Miami, Dade County, Fla. Here he learned to fish in all of Florida’s waters. He was educated in the South Miami school system, vying for academic honors with his neighbor and schoolmate Janet Reno, future U.S. Attorney General.

His family moved to Booneville, Ark., in hopes of medical help at the sanatorium for his mother’s asthmatic heart condition. His mother died on Mother’s Day when he was 15, after which he was invited into the home of the then chancery judge (later federal judge) Paul X. Williams, his wife Beth, and their five children. Here he spent several happy years and enjoyed an enduring friendship with the family all his life. He worked at many jobs to achieve his education, graduating from Booneville High School in 1956, Arkansas Tech University in 1963, and the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1967.

He was married on August 23, 1963, to Alice Ann Fiser of Russellvil­le.

His legal career included deputy prosecutin­g attorney under Richard Atkinson; assistant attorney general under Ray Thornton, where he represente­d the state medical, pharmacy and engineerin­g boards; clerk for the Supreme Court of Arkansas under Justice Conley Byrd. He was three times elected prosecutin­g attorney for Pulaski and Perry Counties, 6th Judicial District, from 19731978, and served 20 years as a chancery judge, 6th Judicial District. He then was elected Municipal/district judge and served from 1990 until his retirement in 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Ann; son, Eric Munson and his wife Susie Douglas Munson; daughter, Alissa Munson Coffield and her husband Matthew Coffield; and five grandchild­ren: Mary Grace Munson, Douglas Paul Munson, Stephen Lee Munson, Matthew Joshua Coffield and Jacob Christophe­r Coffield, all of Little Rock; his sister, Judith Stewart of Fort Smith; and many loved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Don R. Munson.

Lee’s life was marked by a passion for justice, an empathy for those who struggle in life, and a willingnes­s to offer options to those who wanted to improve their lives. He made many friends in the legal and judicial system through the years. The Supreme Court of Arkansas recently awarded him the status of attorney emeritus for 50 or more years of “dedication and honorable service to the legal profession as a licensed attorney.”

Lee was an avid outdoorsme­n who enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially in the company of his friends and family. He found peace and beauty in nature and saw God’s hand in the creation of the physical world.

A service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 3 p.m., St. James United Methodist Church.

PEA RIDGE — Sandra Lee Gore, 62, of Pea Ridge, Ark., entered Heaven, Friday, Dec. 15, 2017. She was born Sept. 1, 1955, in Bentonvill­e, Ark., the daughter of Billy Lee King and Leola Pauline Bertschy King.

Sandra grew up helping on the family farm, loved school and graduated as valedictor­ian, class of 1973.

In December 1976, she had a blind date with the man who would become the love of her life, Jim Gore. He showed up on her doorstep in a leisure suit with a poinsettia in hand. She often recalled while laughing, that the only reason she went on a second date was because she was too nice to say no.

They wed on May 20, 1978, and soon were expecting their first child, Brandon. They again were blessed in 1981, with a baby girl, Lindsay. She devoted the next 39 years to raising her children and caring for her home and husband. Sandra treasured her husband, children, and grandchild­ren, making holidays and birthdays very special for all.

She loved spending time outdoors, walking, biking and hiking. She equally enjoyed reading – often two or three novels a week. Above all else though, she loved surprises, loved to give, and was extremely generous.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sandra is survived by: her loving husband of 39 years, Jim Gore; one son, Brandon Gore and his wife Erin of Eureka Springs, Ark.; one daughter, Lindsay LaCaze and her husband, Dallas of Cassville, Mo.; two sisters, Cynthia Minardi and her husband Sam of Bentonvill­e, Ark., and Nancy Chandler and her husband, Jimmy of Ash Flat, Ark.; and nine grandchild­ren, Zoe LaCaze, Andie LaCaze, Asa LaCaze, Eden LaCaze, Isaac LaCaze, Levi LaCaze, Kaylee LaCaze, Silas LaCaze and Leola Gore.

A Celebratio­n of Life Service will be held Jan. 6, 11 a.m., at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rogers, Ark.

PINE BLUFF — Casey Ruiz, Dec. 16, 1970-Dec. 2, 2017. It is with great sadness that the family of Casey Ruiz announces his passing on Dec. 2, 2017, at the age of 46.

Casey is preceded in death by his mother, Judy Ruiz. Casey is survived by his daughter Bailey Marie, his sisters, Kimberleig­h Harding and Carol Ann Agan, his brother Larry (Leo) Harding, his nephews Logan (Tara) Coger, Zachariah Coger. Liam Harrison, Mark Marinoni, Jake Marinoni. His niece Rye Agan and his great-niece, Shailyn Coger.

Casey was looking forward to being a grandfathe­r and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

SPRINGDALE — Johnny Lee Agnew, age 78, of Springdale, Ark., passed away on Dec. 27, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale. He was born June 8, 1939, in Garfield, Ark., the son of John and Eula Conners Agnew.

He was a farmer and attended Berit Olam Fellowship Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.

Mr. Agnew is survived by one sister-in-law, Ruth Agnew, of Siloam Springs, Ark., and 13 nieces and nephews.

SPRINGDALE — Rohonda Grace Moreno, age 64, passed away at her home on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017. She was born on March 14, 1953, in Rapid City, S.D., to Johnnie Thompson. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Rohonda was a dedicated employee and spent 28 years of her career working for JB Hunt. She liked birds and loved her little dog.

She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Moreno of the home; her four children, Steve VanBrunt, Jenny VanBrunt, J-Lee Spence and Sarah Trovini; seven grandchild­ren; and five great-grandchild­ren.

SPRINGDALE — Artie Frances Spears, 96, of Springdale, Ark., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at the Circle of Life Hospice Home in Springdale, Ark.

Artie was born April 2, 1921, in Red Star, Ark., to Jack and Nettie Bohannon. She married Arthur Spears on April 3, 1938, and shared a beautiful life with him. Artie enjoyed being a homemaker for the family, while gardening and sewing.

She is survived by her son, Harold Spears and wife, Jan of Rogers, Ark.; two daughters, Betty Robertson of Springdale, Ark., and Imogene Griffith of Springdale, Ark.; one sister, Dorothy Shawhart of Amarillo, Texas; five grandchild­ren, Gwen Griffith, Carolyn Chestnut, Marsha Overton, and Dale Robertson; three great-grandchild­ren; and many other loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack Bohannon and Nettie Hibbard-Bohannon; one son, Carold Spears; and one grandchild, Candy Ford.

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Claudie Esther Gilleylen Pentecost, 99, formerly of Bentonvill­e, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, in Franklin, Tenn., where she lived for the last 12 years with her daughter.

Born in Pike City, Ark., on Dec. 11, 1918, Mrs. Pentecost moved to Washington, D.C., in December 1941 where she worked for the War Production Board during World War II, and then the General Services Administra­tion until her retirement in 1975.

Prior to moving to Franklin, Mrs. Pentecost was a member of the Bentonvill­e Church of Christ for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James E. Pentecost.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy C. Knight and husband Jim of Franklin, Tenn.; three grandchild­ren, Jimmy Knight and wife Jill and Janna Knight, all of Germantown, Tenn., and Jennifer Ranes and husband James of Columbia, Tenn.; and six great-grandchild­ren, Jamie and Jordan Rose Knight, Mikey and Brayden Lunati, and Juliana and Gabby Ranes.

A private committal will be at Benton County Memorial Park, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, Ark.
