He was born in Wayton, Ark., on Oct. 14, 1930, to the late Bynum and Virgie (Snow) Casey.

He is preceded in death by his wife Helen Casey, brothers Wayne, J.V. and Berlin Casey and a sister Arvella Barnard. He is survived by his son; daughter Vickie; brother Ray and Opal Casey of Rogers; sisters Alta and Ed Barnard of Rogers and Gladys and Randall Stellman of Glen Carbon, Ill.

ELKINS — Georgia

Roberta King, 77, of Elkins passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, in Springdale. She was born March 7, 1940, in Fayettevil­le to Johnny and Eula Williford Howard.

Roberta was in the campus dining service at the University of Arkansas for 42 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkins. Roberta loved to cook and enjoyed her flower garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Reuben Petit and Marion Loyd Howard. She is survived by her children, son, John King of Elkins, daughter, Kimberley Mayer of Muskogee, Okla., and son, Barry King of Bentonvill­e; a brother, Gary Howard; seven grandchild­ren, Stephen King, Miranda Ludolph, Tanya Hankins, Shane Hankins, Savannah King, Emmitt King and Maceon Reardon; and one great-granddaugh­ter, Lily Ludolph.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Beard’s Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Beard’s Chapel with Pastor Rex Griffin officiatin­g. FAYETTEVIL­LE — Audrey Marie Chandler,

88, of Fayettevil­le, Ark., passed away on Jan. 1, 2018. She was born on May 28, 1929, in Fayettevil­le, Ark., to Howard and Audra Fletcher.

The oldest of two children, Marie spent her childhood

years in the Baldwin community east of Fayettevil­le. Marie graduated from University High School (a.k.a. Peabody High School) and worked at Scott’s 5 & 10 on the Fayettevil­le square.

On Feb. 14, 1953, Marie married Darrell Chandler. She and her husband raised their two sons in the Baldwin community. Marie was a housewife and took great pride in taking care of her family. She was an amazing cook and loved to prepare meals for visiting family. She loved her recipes and loved sharing them with her friends. After her children were grown, Marie was a kindergart­en teacher’s aide at Washington Elementary School for several years.

She was a member of the Baldwin Church of Christ. Marie was a Christian who loved people and cherished her relationsh­ips with her family and friends dearly. When family or friends would visit her face would light up and her eyes sparkle. She frequently said “I’m so blessed.”

Marie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrell Chandler; and her son, Lynn Chandler. Marie is survived by her son, David Chandler; her brother, Jim Fletcher and his wife, Marianne; and her grandchild­ren, Garrett Chandler and Claire Chandler MacDonald.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Beard’s Chapel. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Hester Cemetery under the direction of Beard’s Chapel. FAYETTEVIL­LE — Odetta Jean Fritz, age 89, passed away on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018. She was born on Jan. 8, 1928, in Greenland, Ark., to William and Velma Bloyed Rheam.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Richard Fritz; her two sisters; and her brother.

Odetta attended Fayettevil­le public schools and later went on to work for the public school system. She was a homemaker for many years. She and her husband owned A&W Drive-in for 20 years and developed many relationsh­ips. Most importantl­y she loved the Lord. She attended Buckner Baptist Church for many years and taught a ladies bible study. She was a servant to the Lord as well as to her family and many friends. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her three children, Nita Daniel and husband Morris of Hindsville, Richard Fritz of Fayettevil­le, and Thresha Cantrell and husband Richard of Fayettevil­le; five grandchild­ren; 14 great-grandchild­ren; and 14 great-great-grandchild­ren.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayettevil­le. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Baptist Ford Cemetery in Greenland.

GENTRY — James G. Twiggs Sr., 84-year-old resident of Gentry, Ark., died Jan. 2, 2017, at his home. Born Jan. 3, 1933, in Eugene, Mo., he was the son of Fay G. Twiggs and Nellie E. Buster Twiggs.

James was a graduate of Gentry High School, he studied philosophy at Cornell University and was the former senior acquisitio­ns editor at Cornell, and former teaching assistant/fellow at Cornell University. He also studied philosophy at University of Arkansas and was visiting professor at the University of Arkansas. He taught film studies at the Arkansas Governor’s School for 10 years and was an avid sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Stephen D. Henderson, and sister Carolyn Twiggs. Survivors include his brother Joe M. Twiggs of Gentry, Ark.; son, Jim Twiggs Jr. and wife Mattie of Springdale, Ark.; granddaugh­ter Allyson Twiggs Dyer and husband David of Goshen, Ark.; great grandchild Spencer J. Brown; niece Pamela D. Price and husband Steve of Springdale, Ark.; nephew Michael Phillips of Virginia and niece Margie G. Twiggs of Goshen, Ark.

LOWELL — Richard Lee

“Rick” Harmon, 60, of Lowell, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018. He was born June 15, 1957, in Santa Paula, Calif., to Leamon “Lee” and Nellie McKinney Harmon. Rick loved to his grandchild­ren, hunting and playing pranks. He was a hard worker and just a good man.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Leanna; two children, Ryan Harmon and wife Nicole of Bella Vista, Amanda Harmon of Lowell; two grandchild­ren, Kayleigh and Jagger; four siblings, Ron Harmon and wife Teresa of Santa Paula, Calif., Leana Smith and husband Steve of Fayettevil­le, Leamon Dale Harmon of Bakersfiel­d, Calif., Nellie McCulley of Springdale; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Billie Harvey of Oxnard, Calif.; and his sister-in-law Arlenna Theising and husband Bennie of Fillmore, Calif.

Harold French, 85, Rogers, Ark., passed away Jan. 1, 2018. He was born Jan. 18, 1932, in Tyro, Ark., to the late Arch and Eugenia Jane (Collins) French.

Robert grew up in Dumas, Ark., and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayettevil­le. He served as an aviation machinist mate in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 9, 1951, until Sept. 2, 1954. He was a salesman for Armco Steel (Union Wire Rope) for many years, retiring in 1989. In 1994, Robert and his wife, Marilyn, built and moved into their dream home in Rogers, Ark.

Robert is survived by his son, John K. French and wife, Jil of Rogers, Ark.; daughter, Mary Keely Jones and husband, Marcus of Bella Vista, Ark.; granddaugh­ter, Anysa Rieder and husband, Mike of Belleville, Ill.; two brothers, Billy Bert French of Hot Springs, Ark., and A.O. French of Dumas, Ark.; three nephews, Tracy French of Cabot, Ark., Doug Pierce of Benton, Kan., and David Pierce of Pflugervil­le, Texas; four nieces, Debra Smith of Fayettevil­le, Ark., Ashley Steed of Star City, Ark., Jennifer French of Star City, Ark., and Arlynn Rector of Siloam Springs, Ark.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Kirby French (2016) and both of his parents.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho, Mo., with Pastor Ronnie Prevost officiatin­g. ROGERS — Carl M.

Garman, 80, passed away on Dec. 31, 2017, in Rogers. He was born on Oct. 12, 1937, in Gravette, Ark., to the late Clarence LeRoy and Nettie Loretta (Isley) Garman. He was the husband of the late Modena Achie (Brown) Garman.

He loved spending time with his family, helping take care of his grandchild­ren and gardening. He always had beautiful flowers growing in his front yard and loved spending time sitting on his front porch admiring them.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife; daughter, Lynn Rodgers; and brothers, Wayne Garman and Cecil Garman.

He is survived by his children, Donna Blakeley of Rogers, Cheryl Clancy of Texas, Dean Garman of Bentonvill­e and Tom Rodgers of Rogers; siblings, Clarence Garman, Calvin Garman, Michael Garman and Shirley Wallace; 11 grandchild­ren and 19 great-grandchild­ren.

His visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, from 5 until 7 p.m. in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2017, at 11am in Immanuel Baptist Church in Rogers, burial will follow at Rogers Cemetery.

Online condolence­s can be made at www.rollinsfun­eral.com. ROGERS — Clarence Aubrey Long, 88, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at the Veteran’s Hospital in Fayettevil­le, Ark. He was born March 8, 1929, in Smackover, Ark., to Allen McKenzie Long and Mable Leona Alger Oliver Long.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the Quillback (424) submarine.

He is survived by six children, Steven Long (Lea) of Rogers, Mary Holmes (Ted) of Yuba City, Calif., Rose Woods (Gene) of Rogers, Jim Long of Claremore, Okla., George Long (Barbara) of Rogers, Alice Heikens (Norm) of Franklin, Ind.; three siblings, Paul Long of El Dorado, Ark., Huey Long of Magnolia, Ark., Marie Rogers (Pat) of Port Neches, Texas; 111 grandchild­ren and eight great grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers with the Rev. James Longmate officiatin­g. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. at National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le, with military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard.

DeAire Coney, 22, of Springdale, Ark., departed this life on Jan. 1, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his father, Adolph Beasley Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother Cynthia Rena and stepfather Patrick Nicholson. Siblings Darrion Coney, Brandon Coney, Brian Blackmon, Adrianna Murphy and Aaliyah Nicholson; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Ann (Varela) Jackson, of Springdale, Ark., passed away Jan. 1, 2018, in Springdale. She was born Feb. 20, 1953, in Tulsa, Okla., to John Wesley Varela and the former Margaret Nadine Heaton.

She lived in Springdale for the last 25 years having moved from Tulsa. She was 1971 graduated of Collinsvil­le High School where she was a member of the band. She has been with Tim Jackson for the last 15 years; they married on April 22, 2017. Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at the Collinsvil­le Dolton Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at the Collinsvil­le Dolton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sam Whatley officiatin­g. Interment will follow at the Ridgelawn Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Tim Jackson of the home; one son, John Lomax of Springdale, Ark., and one brother, Donald Varela and his wife Jeanie of San Antonio, Texas.

SPRINGDALE — Richard

Dale “Dick” Smith, age 74 of Springdale and formerly of Houston, Texas, passed away Dec. 31, 2017. Dick was born Feb. 11, 1943, in Mulberry, Ind., to parents Homer and Blanche Smith.

He worked as a machinist and also as a firefighte­r and paramedic. Dick enjoyed bowling and swimming.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. Dick is survived by his wife, Fran of the home; son, Richard Dale Smith II; daughters, Sandra and husband Rick Brown, Susan and husband Bill Byrn, Brenda and fiance Mark Sunkel, Melissa Brown, Pamela Brown, Haley Gammon; seven grandchild­ren and eight great grandchild­ren.

SPRINGDALE — Katrina

Louise Sparks, 50 of Springdale, Ark., went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018. She was born Oct. 24, 1967, In Phoenix, Ariz., the daughter of Don and Grace Rickenback­er.

She never met a stranger, was a loving wife, mother and Nana. She loved her grandchild­ren and her fur babies.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace, son-inlaw, Miles Robinson, brother, Bill Appelhans.

Survivors include her husband, Jamie Sparks; two sons, Michael (Kelly) Wiedekind, Brandon Sartin; daughter Bridgett (Kasey) Rundall; two step-daughters, Sherry (Tyler) Baldwin and Kerry Robinson; stepson, Richard (Samantha) Sparks; sister, Bobbie McCann; two brothers, Eddie Rickenback­er, Don Lee Rickenback­er; six grandchild­ren, Ava, Suzette, Ian, William, Elliot and Micah and several nieces and nephews.
