Americans should reflect outrage over Russia

Russian interference in our election is proven. Why the interference? To lift the sanctions against Russia. Why they need the sanctions lifted is the other part of the story. While still working for Exxon, Rex Tillerson, the former CEO of Exxon, made a deal with Putin to remove oil from 63 million acres in Russia. Putin invaded Ukraine to establish a route to export the oil.

President Obama placed sanctions against Russia because of the invasion. Putin put Trump and Tillerson in the White House to lift those sanctions.

The oil is worth about a half-trillion dollars to Russia.

Hilary Clinton would have never lifted the sanctions for Putin and Putin knew it. They despised each other.

No matter what party you belong to, these are documented facts.

I am an American before anything else. I expect my representatives in Congress to be the same.

I am embarrassed and ashamed by the lack of action against Russia by the Republican party.

Russia invaded our country. Congress has done nothing ! Why ? What is their self-interest ?

If you are an American this should be a top priority, not Obamacare, not tax reform. Nothing should be a priority over this.

Speak out! Demand action!

Shooting starts year off badly in Fayetteville

Sadly, Fayetteville joins a list of communities that experienced senseless gun violence on the first day of 2018 (a murder and attempted suicide in West Helena, AR; a mass shooting at a family home in Long Branch, NJ; and reportedly many others). Barely one hour into the new year, a fatal gun shooting occurred on Dickson Street. Details are sketchy at this time: Was the gun legally obtained by the alleged perpetrator? Did he have a permit to conceal carry? Was alcohol involved? As law-enforcement works its way through this investigation, one thing is certain: An altercation and a young life ended with a gun. We must not allow this to become normal.

Annual event highlights questions to ponder daily

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is Jan. 20. One American theologian laments he “hates” this day because, “I’m reminded that we have to say things to one another that human beings shouldn’t have to say: mothers shouldn’t kill their children, fathers shouldn’t abandon their babies, and no human life is worthless regardless of skin color, age, disability, or economic status.”

It’s hard not to see the glaring contradiction in a person’s “reasoning” which claims to hold to a real Christian worldview (which is undeniably pro-life), but which also compromisingly supports abortion “under certain circumstances.” One must ask the obvious question: What is the unborn? Is it a human being, made in God’s image, or just a clump of undifferentiated cells? What was Mary carrying when Luke (a physician) reports in his gospel the prophecy of Gabriel, “You will be with child”? And what makes humans valuable—something they acquire later (a function), or is it defined by what/whom we are intrinsically?

One may feel, as some studies have suggested, an “issue fatigue” on this biblical/moral-made-political matter; that is, just tired of the debate. But this is no settled dispute to the 2,500 to 3.000 babies in America who are going to be aborted today and each following day this year. Could this be one major reason many of us feel God’s hand of protection and blessing being lifted from our country?

Could it be that many of our pulpits and pews need to not be “fatigued” or misled by such an important moral truth of proclaiming the sanctity of human life? Instead, should we get down on our knees in repentance and then boldly stand for the precious value of life in the womb? Just some thoughts on the upcoming Sanctity of Human Life Sunday — or should that be every day?
