Augusto BELLA D’Almeida, VISTA Air Catholic, music, of — Force classical Manuel devout theology proud lover veteran, inventive and history, doit-yourselfer, and debate one-man team, passed on Jan. 11, away 2018.

Manuel was born April 17, 1930, in Hong Kong. As a boy during WWII his family was forced to flee to a refugee camp in neighborin­g Macau, China. As a young man, he left Hong Kong for good to make a new life in the USA. Manuel was proud to become a citizen of his new country and proud to serve in the military.

Manuel met and married the love of his life, Virginia Madson on Jan. 2, 1961. They had four children. He was a graduate from Cal-State, Fullerton and a retiree from John Deere.

Manuel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia, and his four children, Michelle D’Almeida, Chris D’Almeida, Steve (Jody) D’Almeida and Joia (Steve) Sprenger and seven grandchild­ren, Steven, Jessica (Alan), Patricia, Kalen, Grant, Maddie and Christophe­r, brother Julio and sister Natercia, and two sisters- inlaw Gwen and Mae.

He is predecease­d by two brothers, Joe and Eduardo, and a sister-in-law, Mildred.

A mass will be held in his honor on Jan. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St Bernard Catholic Church.

BELLA VISTA — Dr. Joel Benjamin Hayward, 70, of Bella Vista, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018.

Perseveran­ce, hard work, and dedication were traits that defined Joel. He loved his family, loved the Lord, and had a true servant’s heart.

A graveside memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at Swain Cemetery in Newton County. Bishop Max Whitfield will officiate the service. There family and friends will celebrate his life, his family, and his gift of being a Doctor of Chiropract­ic.

Dr. Hayward graduated from Mount Vernon High School, Mount Vernon, Mo., in 1966 and attended Drury and Missouri Southern colleges between 1966 to 1970 to get his undergradu­ate degree. Shortly after, he joined the Army and completed Basic Training at Fort Lenard Wood, Mo. His first duty station was Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.

Joel completed basic lab & advanced lab courses and, in late 1971, the Army moved him and his family to Hawaii, where he completed his undergradu­ate work from the University of Hawaii with a degree in chemistry. In 1974, Dr. Hayward moved his family to St. Charles, Mo., to attend Logan College of Chiropract­ic.

He graduated in 1978 and referred to this class as the “Great 78!” He stayed connected with his classmates by serving on the alumni board and writing multiple newsletter­s over a 25-year span. In 1978, Joel started Hayward Chiropract­ic in his hometown of Mount Vernon, Mo. He moved his practice in 1984 to Springdale, Ark. Dr. Hayward practiced for 35 years until he retired in May 2013. In those years, he provided gentle care with a true concern to health and wellness. Joel was a very skilled chiropract­or, giving credit to the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Ramsey Hayward (27 years together); brother John Hayward of Mount Vernon, Mo.; sister Janet Hayward of Springfiel­d, Mo.; his three children, son-Jason Hayward and his wife Angela of Springdale, Ark.; son-Jacob Hayward and his wife Michelle of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; daughter-Jessica Hayward Bryan and her husband Stewart of Greenwood, Ark.; six grandchild­ren: Noah and Rachel Hayward, Erika Hayward Phillips and Alex Hayward, and Benjamin and Joseph Bryan; and one great-grandchild, Gavin Byers. BENTONVILL­E — Joseph G. “Jodie” Jones, 96, of Bentonvill­e, Ark., died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice Legacy Village. He was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Watson, Ark.

He was a graduate of Watson High School and attended Arkansas A&M College and graduated from the University of Arkansas.

Jodie was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a dedicated conservati­onist and served 23 years as district conservati­onist for the Soil Conservati­on Service in Benton County.

After retirement he served many years on the Benton County Conservati­on District board of directors and was elected to the Arkansas Associatio­n of Conservati­on Directors Hall of Fame. The state Senate also honored him with a citation for his conservati­on leadership.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and one grandson.

Jodie is survived by his wife Mary Mae of the home; two daughters, Kathy Jones of Bentonvill­e and Lorri Daniels of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; one son, Jerry Jones and wife, Judy of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Margaret Jones Bolsterli of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; two grandsons; one granddaugh­ter; four great grandsons; two great-granddaugh­ters; numerous relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Bentonvill­e with the Rev. Dr. Kurt Boggan officiatin­g.

Memorial contributi­ons may be made in lieu of flowers to First United Methodist Church, Bentonvill­e or the Mary Mae Jones Elementary School, Bentonvill­e, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

BETHAL HEIGHTS — Linda Sue “Lin” Burba, our beloved wife and mother, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Jan.10, 2018, at the age of 65 years. She was born June 2, 1952, in Tahlequah, Okla., the daughter of Ellen Bailey and Robert Church.

She married Joe Burba on Dec. 29, 1988, in Springdale, Ark. She owned and operated The BAR in Springdale with her husband and much-loved gambling partner, Joe.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Joe Burba; daughter Shawna O’Bryan and husband Todd of Royal Oak, Mich.; son David Bailey of Springdale; daughter Angie of Cynthiana, Ky.; sister Virginia Martin of Stilwell, Okla.; nieces, nephews, cousins, step-children, grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, and many friends. She will be greatly missed by all, not least by her little buddy, Rocky.

CONWAY — Jerry Earle Overton, 63, a veteran broadcaste­r and popular University of Central Arkansas journalism professor, died Thursday, Jan. 11, in Conway.

Overton was well known in the Little Rock, Northwest Arkansas and Dallas radio and television markets for his excellent reporting and smooth delivery. His more than 40 years in broadcasti­ng led him to play a wide variety of roles at numerous radio and television stations — sales manager, news and sports anchor, reporter, talk show host, producer and station manager among them.

Over the years, he trained, mentored and helped launch the careers of dozens of radio and television anchors, producers and reporters.

Overton was born June 27, 1954, in Fort Smith, Ark., to the late Earle and Irma Overton of Mansfield. He attended the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho. Overton was bureau chief at KARK TV of Little Rock from 19781983 and sports director and anchor at KHBS/KHOG TV of Fort Smith and Fayettevil­le from 1983-1993.

He was the play-by-play announcer for the Lady Razorbacks basketball team, sideline reporter for Razorback football games and producer of former coach Ken Hatfield’s television show. He also produced programmin­g for the Arkansas Razorback Football Network.

In Dallas, Overton was a general manager, news anchor, producer and reporter at different times for nearly a dozen stations, including the national Salem Radio Network and WBAP-AM/ KLIF-AM.

In 2014, Overton began teaching at UCA, where he was responsibl­e for recent significan­t improvemen­ts in equipment and talent at UCA’s student-run News 6 cable television station.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism degree from the University of Arkansas, a master’s from South Dakota State and was working on a Ph.D. in communicat­ion at the University of Oklahoma. He taught at each of those universiti­es.

Overton is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Donna Thompson; sons Matt Overton of Dallas, Texas, and his wife, Ashley; and Blake Overton of Austin, Texas, and his wife, Kim; granddaugh­ters Hadley and Regan Overton of Dallas; brother David Overton and his wife, Lisa, of Fort Smith; sister Jane Mathias and her husband, John, of Fayettevil­le; father- and mother-in-law, James and Evelyn Thompson of Mountain Pine; brother-in-law Joe Thompson and his wife, Brenda of Mountain Pine; nieces and nephews Sara and Andrew Overton of Fort Smith; Molly Oshman of Dallas; Brittany Mathias of Siloam Springs; Julie Hein of Fayettevil­le; Janette Anderson of Mountain Pine and Joanna Blees of Mountain Pine; and great-nephews Parker and Hunter Oshman of Dallas; Caleb and Eli Blees of Mountain Pine and Konnor Anderson of Mountain Pine; as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Mansfield. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Mansfield First United Methodist Church, 111 S. Division Ave., with burial to follow at Coop Prairie Cemetery in Mansfield. A memorial service is set for Conway’s First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Eva Joyce Doyle, age 68, of Fayettevil­le passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, from Creutzfeld­t-Jakob Disease. She was born Oct. 29, 1949, in Jonesboro, Ark., the daughter of Gene and Omagene Mashburn Irvin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Steve Irvin.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Jessie Harold; two daughters, Kimberly Griffey and her husband Barry of Springdale and Cassie Hamby and her husband Justin of Fayettevil­le; four grandchild­ren, Ethan Horton, Emma Horton, Ellie Horton and Olivia Hamby; two brothers, Rick Irvin of Jonesboro and Glen Irvin of Hardy; three sisters-in-laws, Janice Holland, Liz Holland and Velma Doyle, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a wonderful wife, homemaker and mother, and she was an amazing “MaMa” to her grandkids. She never missed a ballgame, swim meet, concert or recital. She was a talented seamstress who helped many young Jonesboro brides in the ’90s design their wedding and bridesmaid dresses.

She made the best fried chicken; her grandkids requested it every chance they got. She will be deeply missed.

She loved spending time in her garden, spending hours planting and tending her flowers or just sitting in her gazebo with her dog Dixie admiring her flowers. She was adamant that flowers should not be picked that they should just be admired in their natural setting, so please do not send any flowers or plants to her service.

LOWELL — Charles Roy Langston, 82, of Lowell, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayettevil­le. He was born Dec. 1, 1935, in Arkansas to Guy and Flora Wall Langston.

Charles owned and operated a fence company in Northwest Arkansas for over 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and he loved to hunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joanne and 12 siblings.

Survivors include three sons, Don Langston of Lowell, Steve Langston and wife Tracy of Springdale and Roy Langston of Georgia; one daughter, Michelle Hardin and husband Tony of Springdale; four grandchild­ren, Tyler and Natalie Hardin, Kyle Langston and Kelly Brown and four great-grandchild­ren.

Graveside services will be Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Hickory Creek Cemetery with Pastor Bryan Graham officiatin­g.

ROGERS — Janis (“Jami”) I. Jensen, 91, of Rogers, formerly of Harlan, Iowa, passed away Dec. 2, 2017, at Jamestown Nursing Home in Rogers. She was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Jay and Irene Burwell Jamison.

She married Robert E. Jensen on July 5, 1952, in Braddyvill­e, Iowa. She was a graduate of Amity High School in College Springs, Iowa, and the University of Iowa.

She taught elementary school and home economics, worked as a home economist, and assisted in the office of her husband’s optometry practice. She was an active volunteer for many years and devoted time to her church, PEO, and most especially, Single Parent Scholarshi­p Fund of Benton County, Ark.

Preceded in death by her parents, sister Lotta May Lewis; brother-in-law Ted Lewis; brother Horace “Bud” Jamison; sister-in-law Phyllis Jamison.

She is survived by husband Robert Jensen of Rogers; three sons, Brent (Julie) Jensen of Scottsdale, Ariz., Brad (Sandy) Jensen of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Ric Jensen of Carter Lake, Iowa; one brother, James (Betty) Jamison of Mendota, Ill.; and three

grandchild­ren.

ROGERS — Roger Dale McClard, 63, of Rogers, Ark., passed away peacefully at his home, Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, following a day of prayer with his mother-in-law, Priscilla Mason.

Roger was born Jan. 14, 1954, to Patrick and Maxine McClard. He was the fifth of their six children.

A master craftsman and owner of McClard’s Custom Cabinets, Roger enjoyed riding and building motorcycle­s, blues music, and his grandchild­ren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Maxine McClard, an oldest brother, David McClard.

He is survived by the love of his life, Lois McClard, sons Jimmy Witherspoo­n, Erik McClard, Patrick McClard; siblings Sammy McClard, Patsy Crumpton, Donna Greis, and Ricky McClard; six grandchild­ren, numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial visitation will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel in Rogers, followed by a time of sharing of memories at 10:45.

ROGERS — Barbara “Mammy” Parrish Woods died peacefully on Jan. 11, 2018, in Nashville, Tenn., at the age of 90.

SPRINGDALE — Debra Evelyn Farrar, 61, entered into rest Jan. 12, 2018, at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayettevil­le. She was born Oct. 1, 1956, in Prescott, Ariz., to Billy Calvin Williams and Janet Irene Garey Williams.

Debbie was a staffing secretary for nursing support services at Washington Regional Hospital. She worked at Washington Regional for almost 40 years.

Debra enjoyed cooking, reading, her job and being with family. She loved life and tending to her beautiful flowers and African violets.

She is preceded in death by her great-grandparen­ts Garey; great-grandparen­ts Williams; cousin Ruth “Trinks” Williams; nephew, Jeremy Garey Stacy; brotherin-law, Eric Stacy.

Survivors are loving husband, Tim Farrar of Springdale; her loving parents, Billy and Janet Williams of Pea Ridge; her sister, Marcell Stacy of Pea Ridge; her niece, Coutney Stacy of Pea Ridge; great-nieces, Cameo and Melyia Stacy; great-nephew, Connor Stacy and numerous cousins and friends.

SPRINGDALE — Brenda Ellen Rogers, age 76, of Springdale passed away at Circle of Life Hospice on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017. She was born on Jan. 27, 1941, in Springdale.

She is preceded in death by daughter, Christine Annette McCamey; parents, W.C. Rogers Sr. and wife Cleada; brothers, W.C. Rogers Jr., Sammy Dean Rogers; and sister, Anna Lea Petty.

She is survived by her children Sheryl Shores, Scott Pianalto, Tina McDonald and Sid Pianalto, along with 11 grandchild­ren.

A celebratio­n of her life will be shared by her children.
