Bentonville takes second at tourney
Senior Cash Jones pinned his way to the title in the 170-pound weight class to help Bentonville gets second in the 26-team Branson (Mo.) Invitational on Saturday.
Jones and teammate Nathan Desler (160) each won their weight class to lead seven Tigers, who finished in the top five. Obi Smith (126) and Zane Sims (145) each finished second, while Alex Crow (220) was fourth. Ethan Crowe (285) and Jeremiah Fry (195) each took fifth.
Fayetteville’s Marcus Tortorello also took second at 200, while Matthew Muller (195) was third and Brady Arroyos (152) finished fourth as the Purple Bulldogs finished ninth overall.
McCrary wins at Republic Invitaitonal
Rogers Heritage’s Chance McCrary dropped down in weight class and won at the 152-pound class in the Republic (Mo.) Invitational on Saturday.
McCrary won at 160 and claimed outstanding wrestling honors in the upper weights at the Crain Motors tournament in Fayetteville last week. But he dropped to 152 this week and won in Missouri to help the War Eagles finish sixth out of 16 teams.
Teammates Charlie March (195), Nic Carbajal (126) and DeAndrea Mendez (220 each finish second. Justin Brown (138) ws fourth and Elijah Rawson (182) took fifth.
Turner remains perfect, wins at Cabot
Rogers High’s Jake Turner pinned his way to the title in the 145-pound weight class at the Cabot Pools tournament on Saturday.
Turner won his weight class for the second consecutive weekend. Teammate Nathan Hahn also won at 170, while Joseph Castro was second at 220. Jacob Mounce (195) and Carsen Smith (182) each took third to help the Mounties finish third out of eight teams. Cade Black (106) and Mykha Hunter (132) also each finished third.
Bentonville West’s Fox takes second
Bentonville West’s Stephen Fox finished second to help the Wolverines take fourth in the 26-team Catoosa (Okla.) Port City Classic over the weekend.
Fox, who lost a tough 3-2 match in the finals at 132, led six Wolverines, who finished in the top five in their weight class. Charles Easterling (106), Caleb McSpadden (220), Gunner Coppinger (285) and Connor Klein (160) each finished fourth. Zackery Ireland (113) finished fifth.
Stephen Fox finished second at 132 to help Bentonville West take fourth in the 26-team Catoosa (Okla.) Port City Classic over the weekend.
