Honest answers given

In the era of liberal hysterical Democrats’ constant vitriolic attacks on everyone religious and Republican since they lost the 2016 presidential, House, and senatorial elections, it came as no surprise when I read a letter-writer denigrated and attacked Sen. Tom Cotton as “just a loudmouthed self-promoter” questioning the senator’s honorable combat military service.

Senator Cotton voluntarily enlisted, compelled by the 9/11 attacks on our country, in 2005, serving for four years in the U.S. Army, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, 3rd Infantry Regiment. Mr. Cotton saw “actual combat” in the War on Terrorism in the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns. He was deployed to Iraq in May 2006 where he planned and led combat patrols daily. He was also deployed to Laghman Province, Afghanistan, where he planned and led counter-insurgency combat operations daily.

The senator served honorably and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic service in a combat zone, earned the Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Iraq and Afghanistan Campaign medals.

I honor Senator Cotton for his voluntary military service to protect both Mr. Karl Hansen’s and my First Amendment rights to write these letters. If Mr. Karl Hansen is a U.S. combat veteran, I, as a considerate Baptist “religious nut,” also honor him for his service, if applicable.

I hope these are the honest, and enough, answers Mr. Hansen sought. Deep down, however, I have serious doubts. TERRY EVERS Springdale
