BELLA VISTA — John R. Frickson, 79, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away Jan. 18, 2018, at Washington Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 7, 1938, to Richard and Marie Frickson in Freeport, Ill.

John proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Chrysler Corporation as a work coordinator. John moved to Bella Vista from Rockford, Ill., in 1995. He played with the Jelly Bellies for a while until he realized he hated golf. John enjoyed being a part of Fly Tyers. He loved his many fishing trips to Canada.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 34 years, Mary Kay Frickson of the home; son, Ken (Tracy) Frickson of Rockton, Ill.; daughters, Rose Frickson of Love’s Park, Ill, Julie Garza of Las Vegas, N.V., Molly Jo (Phillip) McGinnis and Erin McGinnis, both of Aurora, Colo.; sisters, Jane (Donald) Stacy of Winnebago, Ill., Judy Pauley and Joyce Jones both of Rockford, Ill.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

BENTONVILLE — Dr. Rowland Robert ( Bob) Robins, 77, died Jan. 18, 2018, in Centerton. He was born in Camden, Ark., June 4, 1940, to Dr. Rowland Robins and Mae (Thompson) Robins.

Rowland graduated from Camden High School in 1958. He earned a bachelors degree in mathematics from SAU- Magnolia, a masters degree in mathematics from University of Louisiana-Monroe and a PHD in educational psychology from the University of Houston.

After retiring from USAA Corporation in Houston, Rowland moved to Holiday Island, Ark., in 2004. On Feb. 24, 2007, he married Holly Ann Hatcher. He was an avid golfer and a devoted Christian. He enjoyed Bible study and reading. He loved his pets, especially his favorite cat, Blackjack.

Survived by his wife, Holly of Bentonville; two daughters, Stephanie Messionnier, Jennifer Ferris; a son, Rowland Robins, all of Texas; three sisters, Linda Luttrell of Shreveport, La., Ann Cook (Billy) of Lake Anna, Va., and Diana Germann of Cameron, Texas; three grandchildren and six nieces.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

BENTONVILLE — Larry Roland, 59, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away Jan. 19, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice, Legacy Village. He was born the son of Elmer W. Roland and Gladys M. Hublitz in El Dorado, Kan., on Jan. 12, 1959.

Larry moved to Bentonville in 1988 from Medicine Lodge, Kan. He worked for Kingswood Golf Course in Bella Vista. He loved golf and working all the tournaments, cancer event and other events. He also loved fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Gale Roland (fiancee, Amy Kesner) of Bella Vista, Jeremy Roland of Bentonville; brothers, DeWyte (Janet) Roland, Charles (Judy) Roland; sister, Veneta (Bill) Chapin of Hutchinson, Kan.; four grandchildren, Kadey, Potter, Alexis, Garren, and Eli Roland; one great-grandchild, Zachary Crame; many nieces and nephews.

FAYETTVILLE — Juanita

Joe Dobrinski, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018. She was born July 4, 1929, in Durham to Elbert Robbins and Lola Springston-Robbins.

Juanita enjoyed a distinguished career with AT&T telephone Company which she retired from after 32 years. She made lifelong friends and always had room at her table for anyone. She loved helping people and had a real love of animals, especially cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman Dobrinski and brothers Sherman Robbins and Lynn Robbins.

Survivors include her nephew, Rex Robbins and wife Tina; niece, Ann Phelan and husband David, along with a great-niece and nephew.

FAYETTEVILLE — Donald “Don” Steve Greenlee, 46, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed from this life on Ja n . 18, 2018, at home. He was born on July 4, 1971, in Fayetteville, to Lonnie and Melva ( Frazier) Greenlee.

In 1991, he married the love of his life, Michele (Scott) Greenlee.

Don was a loving husband, father, Papa, son, and brother. He was known as the backbone of the family who held everything together. His family was the most important thing in his life and he always made sure they were in church every Sunday. Don affectionately gave a nickname to each of his adoring grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Greenlee and Melva ( Frazier) Greenlee; a sister, Cindy Hawkins; brother in law, Buddy Hawkins; a sister, Darlene Greenlee; and a nephew, Gary Dean Greenlee.

FAYETTEVILLE — Mrs. Marlene Veda Christensen

Westberg, age 84, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. Marlene was born May 22, 1932, to Raymond and Ruth Christensen in Grand Island, Neb.

Raised in Glenrock, Wyo., she studied piano and organ, serving as church organist while in high school. After graduation, she enrolled at the University of Wyoming in Laramie where she became the accompanist for the University Choir and vocal students. She graduated in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in art and music education.

From 1954 to 1960, she taught art in Cody and Casper, Wyo., public schools, serving two years as elementary art supervisor in Casper. As such, she developed an art outline for teacher’s that was later requested by the U.S. Department of Army for use in its schools.

In 1960, she resumed her study of the pipe organ at San Francisco Theological Seminary where she graduated with a master of arts in sacred music in 1962. While at seminary, Marlene married Paul Westberg, a ministerial student. They served churches in New Mexico and Oklahoma, she as minister of music, Bible teacher and co-counselor.

During this time, three sons were born. In 1970, the family moved to Fayetteville, Ark. Besides her responsibilities at church, Marlene also played recitals in organ and harpsichord at the University of Arkansas, substituted as organist at local churches, and served as Hospice volunteer trainer and coordinator in its early days. In 1980, she earned a master of fine arts in humanities from the University of Arkansas.

Because of a gene missing from her DNA, a lifetime of exposures to environmental chemicals left her disabled in 1986, with multiple sensitivities to chemicals (petroleum products and fragrances in particular), foods and prescription drugs. These sensitivities forced her to live an isolated lifestyle from that time on.

In 1992, she moved to a mountain site in south Washington County where she pursued an interest in writing non-fiction articles and novels. Sustained by her faith in God through Jesus Christ, she continued to live a productive lifestyle, giving support and encouragement through phone calls and letters to others who faced the same challenges. Her life was best summarized by words from II Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Surviving Marlene are three sons and daughters-inlaw, Dan and Lisa from Cary, N.C., Mark and Amy from Wheat Ridge, Colo., and Scott and Pam from Arkadelphia, Ark., five grandchildren, Megan and Erin, Stephen, Stephanie and Sierra; one sister, Joyce Artery from Albuquerque, N.M.; three nephews and one niece.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Sutter Presbyterian Church, 3500 Fee Fee Road, Bridgeton, Mo., 63044, whose pastor and members gave emotional and spiritual support and offered prayers that helped sustain Marlene in her years of isolation.

LOWELL — Gene Holloway, age 75, a resident o f L owe l l , Ark., passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born July 31, 1942, in Alix, Ark., the son of Cleo and Otis (Stubbs) Holloway.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth Holloway and Tommy Holloway and one sisterin-law, Sue Holloway.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years Darlis Holloway; one son, Shawn Holloway and wife Tori; two daughters, Michelle Gray and husband Sam and Rhonda Driggers and husband Rob; one brother, Cletus Holloway; one sister Jacquelyn Roe; 10 grandchildren, Justin Alderson and wife Mallory, Cassie Youngblood and husband Jason, Christopher Haight, Matthew Haight, Sarah Haight, Logan Gray, Aubrey Holloway, Ashten Holloway, Avrie Holloway, and Bode Holloway; four great-grandchildren, Caysen Youngblood, Trenton Youngblood, Callie Youngblood, and Lincoln Alderson with one more on the way.

RISON — Charl e s Alfred “Chuck” Culpepper, 76, of Jefferson County, passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at JRMC in Pine Bluff. He was born Sept. 26, 1941, in Lincoln County near Sanders Creek to the late Thomas Richard Culpepper and Nellie Mae Mann.

Preceding him in death was his brother James Mackie Culpepper of Pine Bluff.

He and his family have been lifelong members of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Palmyra, Ark.

Charles attended Glendale public schools and later graduated from Arkansas A&M College (now UAM) as a member of Sigma Tau Gamma. He was retired from vocational and industrial education with his career spanning over 30 years. He taught many students within Helena, Glendale, Gould, Dumas and Pine Bluff high schools while helping them attain knowledge, confidence and competency within the building trades.

He received the Certificate of Honor as an Outstanding Teacher for the 1968/69 school year on April 11, 1969, by the American Industrial Arts Association.

He loved his family and friends but also his canine companions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, cooking and sharing a laugh (not necessarily in that order). Past students claim he would burst into song (often loudly) with a favorite snippet from Harold Jenkins or the Statler Brothers during class, but he insisted those random “workshop vocalizations” of classic country hits kept the birds from nesting in the shop building. Workshop safety, of course, was a top priority but he occasionally joked he had made it to retirement with all 10 fingers still intact!

A few older friends may recall his CB handle, Tater Slip or his nickname, Joe-Dobber, but if not, that’s fine; he’ll explain it all when you catch him on the flip side.

Survivors include his sister, Linda Nell Hankins of Palmyra; three sons, Michael Armstrong of Anderson, S.C., Brian Culpepper of Fayetteville, Dr. Chris Culpepper of Hot Springs and five grandchildren.

Darlene Hunter, age 71, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, from cancer. Karen was born in Denver, Colo., on May 18, 1946, to Gordon and Lillian James.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew.

She is survived by her children, Dwayne Peterson of Lowell, Michelle Webb of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Shane Edens and wife Kisha of Rogers, Traci Snyder and husband Dave of Combs and Justin Webb of Rogers; three great grandchildren, Thomas Snyder, Daniel Snyder, and Nehamiah Edens; two brothers, Norman James and wife Carol of Utah, Leslie James and wife Susan of California; and a niece and two nephews.

ROGERS — Luanne Marie Lindsey passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, in Bentonville, Ark. She was born on Nov. 7, 1935, in Kirksville, Mo., to Dr. C.G. Cohagan, D.O., O.D., and Eva Landers Cohagan. Luanne is survived by her husband of 60 plus years, Richard Lindsey, son Richard Curtis Lindsey, daughter Richelle Lindsey, grandsons Jubal Lindsey, Sam Lindsey, John Mattingly, granddaughter Christina Marie Lindsey, and great- grandson Elias Margon among countless other relatives.

Luanne is preceded in death by her daughter, Sherlyn Lindsey, brother Paul Cohagan, brother Donald Cohagan, and brother Jackie Cohagan.

Luanne graduated from Joplin, Mo., High School in 1953. By the end of high school she had become an accomplished cellist, pianist, and operatic singer.

The fall of 1953 she attended the University of Missouri where she focused her studies on music. In summer of 1955, she met her future husband. That fall semester she transferred to Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan., and changed her major to elementary education. She graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1957 with a bachelor’s in elementary education.

She was married to Richard on April 21, 1957.

Luanne will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the various communities and churches she served.

ROGERS — Henry Lee Reed, 72, of Rogers, passed away Jan. 15, 2018. He was born June 28, 1945, in Iola, Kan., to the late John and Juanita Reed.

ROGERS — Mike “Bubba” Watson, 65, of Rogers, passed away Jan. 19, 2018, in Rogers. He was born Aug. 3, 1952, in Siloam Springs, Ark., the son of Harold and Inez Watson.

Mike formerly owned a car dealership and was former sales manager for Hart Motor Company. He was a security guard for Basic Construction and Pinnacle Country Club. He was a ham radio operator, W5FJ, he also enjoyed trading guns and radios, hunting, fishing, watching football and NASCAR racing.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Tommy Hatfield, and a brother, Barry Watson.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years Jo Lynn Watson of the home; his children Kim Easley and husband Roger of Rogers, Jill Hatfield of Rogers and Rachelle Banks of Avoca; two grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Easley.

ROGERS — Mrs. Mendy Wells, age 44, of Rogers, Ark., passed away, Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. She was born Jan. 5, 1974, in Rogers, Ark., to Dennis Garland and Linda McElroy Garner.

Mrs. Wells loved camping, fishing, being outdoors and with her family and church family. She loved having her dog Bella by her side.

Mendy was a member at Rogers Christian Church. She was dedicated her time to serving in many ministries. She served in any ministry that involved children including nursery, elementary school, middle school and high school.

Mendy was always smiling even on her worst days and made an impact on everyone she met.

Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Hubert McElroy and Fred Garland and her great-grandmother, Lora Boling.

Mrs. Wells is survived by husband Jeremy Wells; father Dennis Garland and wife Sandi; mother Linda Garner and husband Randy; sons Skyler Breeden and Jeremy Wells Jr.; daughter Kaylinn Wells; sisters Billie Hunter, Sheri Crews and Tonia Pryor, and her grandparents, Ruth McElroy and Leonida Garland.

Visitation for Mrs. Wells will be held 6-8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home.

SILOAM SPRINGS — Mr. James (Jim) Nichols, age 83, of Siloam Springs, Ark., passed away peacefully from this life and entered into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018. Born in Rosie, Ark., on July 9, 1934, to cotton farmers Albert and Beaulah Nichols, he grew up on Dyers, Ark., one of 11 children.

His only surviving sibling is Bill Nichols of Mountain Home, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Nichols, in 2010. He and Marjorie are survived by a daughter, Patricia Campbell and husband Alvin of Fort Smith, Ark., and a son, Tony Nichols and wife Missha of Cave Springs, Ark. They enjoyed seven grandchildren: Benjamin Campbell of Springdale, Ark., Hannah Campbell Meehan of Belgrade, Mont., Josh Nichols of Carlsbad, N.M., Tash Nichols of Seattle, Wash., Stefanie Wrquidez of Frisco, Texas, Brianne Abrenhaltz of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Jandi Nichols of Albuquerque, N. M. and 13 precious great-grandchildren.

SPRING DALE— Ruby Jewel (Lee) Phillips, of Springdale, Ark., passed away Jan. 17, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was 91 years old and died of natural causes. She was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Rogers, Ark., to James Riley and Flora Ellen (Meskimen) Lee.

She was an excellent cook, loved to read daily and she became an extraordinary seamstress, with a passion, no doubt, fueled by a lengthy career managing Walmart’s fabric department.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lefate Phillips, daughters, Judith Michaels and Ailene Hagee and son, Jimmie Phillips.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Jimenez and her husband John of Anderson, Mo.; her two sons, Larry Phillips of Springdale and Charles Phillips and his wife Monte of Clarksburg, Md.; her sister, Virginia Rogers and her husband Glen of Springdale and her son-inlaw, John Eldridge of Sallisaw, Okla. She has numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Pastor Jason Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Cemetery.

SPRINGDALE — Ronald Lee Richards, known to most as Dusty Richards, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 18, 2018. He was born Nov. 11, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Jean Hogenbirk Richards.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jean and John Richards, and his wife, Patricia Richards.

He was raised Methodist. Ronald “Dusty” married Patricia Donahoe on June 5, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville, Ark. He lived in Springdale, Ark., in the Sonora Community.

Dusty is survived by daughters Anna Barnes and husband, Bryan of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Rhonda Albrecht and husband, Wolfgang of Fayetteville, Ark.; a brother, Jim Richards of Rogers, Ark.; a sister, Sandy Lundy and husband, Bob of Cannon Beach, Ore.; grandchildren Jessica (Barnes) Smith and husband, Derek, Montana Barnes and wife, Ashley, Courtney (Albrecht) Watson and husband, Shane and Erich Albrecht; great- grandchildren Trypp and Mya Stephenson, Cayden and Wyatt Barnes, Cheyenne and Paisley (Sweetpea) Watson and Kalie and Kambry Smith; brother-in-laws, Dennis Donahoe of Hindsville Ark., and Michael Donahoe and wife, Joyce of Lincoln, Ark.; sister-in-laws, Karen Beebe of Lincoln, Ark., and Rita Walker and husband, John Clark, of Berryville, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

WEST FORK — William W. Long Sr., 93, of West Fork, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018. He was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Watts, Okla., to George N. and Goldie Mae Long.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Frank and Norman Long; two half-sisters; two half-brothers; and one grandchild, Tony.

He worked as a mechanic for most of his life and also took correspondence courses to work in the electronic field. Bill loved playing guitar and mandolin and singing in church. He also loved fishing, boating and camping. Above all, he loved his wife, Artie, of 71 years, his children and grandchildren.

Bill was a member of Hyland Park Assembly of God Church (formerly Central Assembly) since 1955.

He is survived by his wife, Artie Long, of the home; a son, Walter Long and wife, Cresa of Winslow; a daughter, Patricia Standifer and husband, Larry of West Fork; a daughter, Pamela Thaler of West Fork; grandchildren Patrick, Chrissie, Tonya, Angie, Rebecca, Jennifer, Jessica, Sarah, Tony, Kendra, Taylor, Kateasha and Will; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great- great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at Beard’s Chapel.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Hyland Park Assembly of God where he was a member. Bill loved his church and church family. He was devoted to God, praying until the end. Pastors Brad Redding and Dean Jones will be officiating. Interment will follow in West Fork Cemetery under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.

LANAGAN, Mo. — Henry Austin Holliday, 89, of Lanagan, Mo. , passed away Jan. 19, 2018, at home. He was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Southwest City, Mo., the son of Jake and Rosa Holliday. Henry was a member of Harbor of Praise Church in Bentonville.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy; parents; brothers Leroy, Bill, J.D. and Don and one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Johnny Holliday and wife Alta, Pam Holliday Hughes, Harold Holliday and wife Lisa, Teresa Neal and husband Jessie Don; three sisters Maxine Harriston, Iva Loper, and Sue Rhodes; and one brother, James (Coon) Holliday; 27 grandchildren; 41 great- grandchildren; 11 great- great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p. m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Harbor of Praise Church with Pastor Roy Roughton and Pastor Ronald Roughton. Interment will follow in the Bentonville Cemetery.
