Durant lets official know how he feels

Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant was ejected late in Tuesday’s 123-112 victory over the New York Knicks, claiming official James Williams was targeting him during the game.

It marked Durant’s fourth ejection and 10th technical on the season. He had only one ejection for his entire career prior to 20172018.

Right before the ejection, Draymond Green, who has 11 technical fouls and two ejections on the season, did his best to keep Durant from going off on the official by shoving him away. But Durant had his mind made up that he was going to let his voice be heard.

“The irony,” Durant jokingly said about Green playing the levelheaded role. “I was not trying to hear that. I didn’t want to get teched up or thrown out, but I did want him to hear what I had to say. It is part of the game. I’m sure when I see James again, I’m sure he’ll still be in his feelings.”

Durant finished with 14 points, a career-high 14 assists and 2 blocks in 32 minutes.

Not a fan

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox said he doesn’t have a favorite Super Bowl moment as he’s never watched one, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“I don’t watch sports. Y’all know that,” Cox said.

It seems that playing 93 of 96 regular-season games since entering the league in 2012 and the countless hours of weekly film review are enough to satisfy the three-time Pro Bowler.

Believes in jinxes

Philadelphia’s mayor said he won’t jinx the Eagles ahead of their Super Bowl appearance by placing the team’s jersey on the statue of William Penn atop City Hall.

Mayor Jim Kenney said Tuesday that he wants the city’s football team to win the big game. But his spokesman told WCAU-TV he didn’t want to risk putting the jersey on the statue.

The city placed a Phillies baseball cap on the statue during the 1993 World Series and a Flyers jersey on the statue during the 1997 Stanley Cup Final. Both teams lost.

The Philadelphia Eagles have never won a Super Bowl. They face the New England Patriots on Feb. 4 in Minneapolis.

Kenney says he plans to watch the game in Philadelphia.

Whoa! Nellie

Vin Scully, to the Los Angeles Times, recalling the time he played golf with fellow broadcasting icon Keith Jackson: “He was not only a great player, but he kindly spent a lot of time helping me look for my ball.”
