BELLA VISTA — Mr. Roy

“Laird” Lindquist (Swede), of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at the age of 74.

Laird was born on Aug. 28, 1943, in Omaha, Neb. After graduating from Elkhorn High School, He spent the next 4 years serving his country in the Navy. Laird began working as a parts manager for the John Deere Company, retiring after 33 years of service.

Laird and his wife Judy moved to Bella Vista, Ark., in 2002. For the next 10 years, Laird worked part time for TH Rogers Lumber Company. During his time at TH Rogers, Laird was known for being the go to guy when someone needed help.

Laird was an avid John Deere collector. He roamed the countrysid­e looking for anything John Deere green. He enjoyed showing off his John Deere tractors and toys in local parades and toy shows. Laird loved hanging with friends and always made new friends wherever he went. Laird bled John Deere green through and through.

Laird is survived by his wife Judy of Bella Vista, Ark.; sister Mary Heiman of Elkhorn, Neb.; brother Monte & Ginny Lindquist of Las Cruses, N.M.; step-sons Mike Plambeck of Omaha, Neb., Doug & Kim Plambeck of Red Oak, Iowa; step daughters Laura Mousel of Omaha, Neb., and Leann Rigatuso of Omaha, Neb.; 8 grandchild­ren and 3 great grandchild­ren.

Laird was preceded in death by his parents Roy & Grace Lindquist of Elkhorn, Neb., and step- son Scott Plambeck of Omaha, Neb.

A memorial service in his honor will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Boulevard in Bella Vista, Ark.

BELLA VISTA — George

Franklin Schaub, 95, passed away Jan. 23, 20 1 8 , surrounded by family. He was born Dec. 10, 1922, in Bunker Hill, Ill.

He served with the 8th Air Force/ 92nd Bomb Group during WWII in the skies over Germany. George was a custom home builder in suburban Chicago and Fairfield Bay, Ark., where he resided for 26 years.

Surviving George is his wife of 71 years, Lois Schaub; daughters, Jan McMahon (Jim) and Jill Marriner (Tom); granddaugh­ters Jenine McMahon- Peace, Jamee Stephens ( Chris) and Megan Marriner; and great-grandchild­ren Josh, Sammi and Lyndi.

A Mass of the Resurrecti­on will be held Feb. 9, 2018, at Concordia Retirement Center at 10 a.m. Donations to St. Jude in lieu of flowers.

BENTONVILL­E — Cecil Ray Harris of Bentonvill­e, age 87, passed from this life at Circle of Life Hospice care in Bentonvill­e on Feb. 2, 2018. He was born in Huntington, Ark., on Sept. 7, 1930, to A.C. Harris and Hester Cross Harris.

He served four years in the U.S. Navy. He was a preacher, Bible class teacher, and an elder in the Bentonvill­e Church of Christ, and in other

churches in Lamar, Mo., Salina, Kan., Aurora, Springfiel­d, and Brookline, Mo. He served in these capacities throughout his adult life and was loved and respected by his family, and as a Christian servant, and teacher.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnna, in 1991 and by his second wife, Melba, his parents and three brothers: William, Kenneth, and Harlan.

He is survived by sons Robert Harris of Bentonvill­e and Randall Harris of Abilene, Texas; one brother, Keith Harris of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Dorothy Thomas of Springfiel­d, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, with a funeral service following at 10:30 a.m. in the Bentonvill­e Church of Christ Church worship center with Gil Curren officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Springfiel­d, Mo.

Leona Evelyn ( Kramer)

Berens, age 90, of Fayettevil­le, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 2, 2018. She was born May 18, 1927, in Fort Madison, Iowa, to Henry and Anna ( Lake) Kramer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers ( Louis, Richard, and Raymond); and three sisters (Esther, Bernice, and Louise “Sarah”).

She was an employee for Butterfiel­d Trail Village Home, a companion, and worked in the food service industry for many years, including owning her own cafe in Centennial, Wyo.

She was a parishione­r of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayettevil­le, Ark. She loved to cook, bake, travel, and spend time with her loved ones. Leona was tremendous­ly loved by her family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers over the years as she lived in Iowa, Wyoming, and Arkansas.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Anne (Ronald) Pulse of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Alena Albright of Kansas City, Mo. She is also survived by two sons, James (Kathryn) Berens of Bear, Del., and John Berens of Fayettevil­le, Ark. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Kevin) Oney of Cleveland, Ohio. She is survived by seven grandchild­ren; 10 great grandchild­ren, and two great- great- grandchild­ren along with many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayettevil­le at 10 a.m. with rosary at 10:30. Funeral service will then be at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Funeral Chapel.

HOT SPRINGS — Gwendolyn Marlene Burrow, 84, peace fully passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, surrounded by family at her home in Hot Springs, Ark. She was born on Dec. 10, 1933, in Garibaldi, Ore., to Elmer and Margaret Holcomb.

Gwen married John Carroll Burrow on May 3, 1953, in Carson City, Nev. They were happily married for 57 years. Gwen was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Tull, Ark.

Gwen adored a host of hobbies that most notably involved her family and friends. She had a special love of music and cherished singing with the Tull Tones. The Tones consisted of Roberta Davis, Murlene Tull, Sadie Ashcraft, and Jean Carlisle. All were her dearest friends and all shared each other’s joys and tears.

She enjoyed gardening, quilting and the community life of Tull. She volunteere­d countless hours to her closeknit home town and rarely passed a chance to lend her kind support. Gwen and John were both blessed with the joys of travel and shared countless adventures with one another. The loves of her life were her children. She happily attended every ballgame, recital, talent show and awards presentati­on from the time they were born.

Gwen is preceded in death by her husband John; her parents Homer Holcomb and Gerald and Margaret Gould; and brother Norman Holcomb of Redding, Calif.

Gwen is survived by her daughter Monda Lynn Martin ( husband Don) of Hot Springs, Ark.; her son Shawn Wright Burrow (wife Rebecca) of Rogers, Ark.; her grandson Aaron Reid Barlow (fiancee Kristee Kimble and son Murphy) of Tulsa, Okla.; former son-in-law Billy Wray Barlow of Hot Springs, Ark.; sisters Janet Oilar of Fall River Mills, Calif., Belva Fulk of Redding, Calif., Sharon Sage ( husband David) of Redding, Calif., and Gail Bowen of Redding, Calif. She is also survived by a host of family nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to recognize the staff of Dierksen Hospice and the Atrium at Serenity Point. Both Hot Springs entities provided passionate support and care of Gwen.

A visitation will be held at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home, 306 S. Main St., Benton, Ark., 72015, on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 8319 North Main St., Tull, Ark., 72015, on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Lee Dodson, 55, of Huntsville, Ark., died Jan. 28, 2018, at Fayettevil­le. He was born Sept. 4, 1962. A memorial service was held at 1 p. m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Forum Church of Christ. Cremation was under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.

Richard Lee Eledge, 77, of Huntsville, died Jan. 30, 2017, at home. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Kay Ramsey, 78, of Huntsville, died Feb. 2, 2018. She was the widow of John Ramsey.

ROGERS — George W.

( Bill) Carrington, 93, of Rogers, Ark., gently took the hand of Jesus on Feb. 1, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice. His hand was being held by his daughter, granddaugh­ter and great- granddaugh­ter as he made his heavenly transition. He was born May 18, 1924, in Coffeyvill­e, Kan., to Charles Homer and Madeline Carrington.

He was a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in economics and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. At the time of his death, he was a retired agent of emeritus for Northweste­rn Mutual Life Insurance Company, a past president of Rogers Noon Rotary Club and a member of St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Bella Vista.

His love for people was evident in the way he lived his life through his integrity, care and genuine respect for others.

He was a veteran of World War II and served in both the European and Pacific theaters of war.

Bill was an avid fisherman and jokester. At Bill’s request,

The Fisherman’s Prayer will be read at his celebratio­n of life. “Oh, Lord, when you catch me in Your net, may I be judged big enough to keep.” Oh Lord, we know he was the BEST catch.

Bill is survived by his wife, Helen, his college sweetheart, to whom he was married 72 years; a daughter, Ann Dubbell and son-in-law, Paul Dubbell; and six grandchild­ren, Elizabeth Dubbell Beck, Eric Dubbell (Carrie), Chris Dubbell (Kristin), Beth Welborn (Sammy), Paul Carrington (Amy) , and Andrew Carrington (Angie); and 17 great-grandchild­ren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Edward Carrington.

The family would like to thank the Innisfree Senior Living staff and the Innisfree Health and Rehab staff for loving him and treating him like family.

A celebratio­n of life service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at 11 a.m. The service will be held at Fellowship Bible Church of NWA ( Training Center Chapel), 1051 W. ROGERS — Doris

Anna Hayes Forbes left this life to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her beloved husband and children on Jan. 24, 2018. Her devoted daughter and loving soninlaw were at her side as she passed gently into eternity. Doris was born on Friday, Sept. 13, 1919, in Williamsto­wn, N.J., to John Franklin and Rebecca Biggs Hayes.

On Dec. 5, 1937, she married the love of her life, Wayne Duff Forbes Sr., and they were married for 54 wonderful years, until Wayne’s death in September 1991.

Their union produced several children; twins Farley and Forrest Forbes in 1938, who were premature and didn’t survive; their oldest son, Wayne Duff Forbes, Jr. in 1939, who preceded Doris in death; a daughter, Daryl Anne “Angel” Forbes Shaw who survives, and her husband John Robert “J.R.” Shaw with whom Doris has made her home for the last 20 years; and a daughter Angela Diane Forbes in 1964, born prematurel­y, who didn’t survive.

She has two grandsons by daughter Angel, Edward Wayne Freitag and wife Margo, who reside in Poplarvill­e, Miss., and Troy Robert Freitag-Shaw and wife Shelah ,who reside in Washington, Pa.; her two great-grandchild­ren from Troy and Shelah are great- granddaugh­ter Ashley Nicole Freitag-Shaw living in Washington, Pa., and great-grandson Christophe­r Wayne Freitag-Shaw living with grandparen­ts Angel and J.R. Shaw in Rogers, Ark.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings; Belford Hayes and wife Marie, Elma Hayes and husband Jim Van Ausdall, and Rebecca “Becky” Hayes and husband Tom Ogello.

She is survived by her daughter Daryl “Angel”, sonin-law J.R., grandsons Eddie (Margo) and Troy (Shelah), and great-grandchild­ren Ashley and Christophe­r, nephew Don Hayes and wife Linda of Tampa, Fla., and Becky Ann (Ogello) Alise and husband Nick of Parkland, Fla., several other nieces and nephews and many friends.

Doris was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great- grandmothe­r, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was valedictor­ian of Knox High School, Class of 1937, and was the last remaining member of her class.

She lived in many places including Williamsto­wn and Ocean City, N.J., Knox, Albion and Washington, Pa., Arabi, New Orleans and Mandeville, La., and finally Rogers, Ark.

She was a life-long member of the Methodist church, having been a member of Napoleon Avenue UMC in New Orleans, FUMC in Covington, La., Wrights UMC, Venetia, and FUMC Washington, Pa., and finally FUMC Rogers, Ark. She played the piano and sang alto in the choir all her life until her health prevented it.

Doris was the leader of Brownie and Girl Scout troops for many years. She entered the work force late in life, having been a “stay at home” Mom, working in the film industry at National Cinema and National Screen Service for 20 years, retiring in 1984, and honored with a special “Doris Forbes” day at Disneyland!

Doris had many animals and was a great animal lover all her life. Her life was spent doing for others, including sending cards and little gifts to lift their spirits, and when she was no longer able to do that she kept a prayer list and prayed for others daily.

The light of her life were her grandsons and great- grandchild­ren she helped raise for most of their lives. Even in the trials of her life, Doris had a wonderful sense of humor. Recently, when she needed the assistance of the Fire Department she remarked, “Tell them I’m young and beautiful and they’ll get here faster!” Doris’ smile could light up a room and her faith was a testament to others. She will be missed by many. The world is a darker place for her passing, but heaven is much brighter for her presence there.

ROGERS — Gloria Jean King, age 81, of Rogers, Ark., passed away in her home on Jan. 27, 2018. She was born Jan. 21, 1937, to Lawrence and Esther Ione Flanders in Denver, Colo.

Jean married Donald King on Sept. 17, 1955, in Bennett, Colo.

She is survived by her husband Donald King, her four children and their spouses, 13 grandchild­ren, and 27 great-grandchild­ren.

ROGERS — Betty Lou

May, age 85, passed away in Rogers, Ark., on Feb. 1, 2018. She was born April 3, 1932, in Jackson County, N.C., to Roy Lyman and Lucille (Mathis) Shuler.

ROGERS — Jerome Knox “Jerry” Williams,

75 of Rogers passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018. He was born Nov. 23, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late John Rudolph Williams and Ruth Dalton Williams.

Jerry was also preceded by

his son, Jason Williams; his siblings, Phyllis Stover, John Williams Jr and Jim Williams.

Following graduation, he entered his first career proudly serving his country for nearly 30 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Jerry continued working with data system management with J.B. Hunt for another 20 years before retiring.

He remained active with the Bella Vista Marine Corps League, including serving as vice-commandant, time shared with his family and bass fishing. He was a member of the Bear Creek Bass Club. Jerry especially enjoyed sharing his love of fishing by teaching youth and especially the developmen­tally disabled how to fish.

For 55 years he was the loving husband of Rose Marie Hurst Williams, who survives. Mr. Williams is also survived by his daughter, Carol Dresser (Alan) of Spring Hill, Kan.; dear family friends, Tong Puang (Lydia Hsieh) and their daughters, Serena and Sophia Puang; extended family members; his fellow Marines and associates.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5 and his funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, both in the chapel of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Interment with full military honors will follow in Fayettevil­le National Cemetery.

ROGERS — Ed ith Yeakley, 73, of Rogers died Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at a local skilled care center. She was born Feb. 12, 1944, in Arkansas.

WEST FORK — Houston Leon Williams, 74, of West Fork, Ark., passed away on Feb. 2, 2018, in Fayettevil­le, Ark. He was born on Aug. 9, 1943, in Clarksvill­e, Ark., to Hoyt and Edith (Houston) Williams.

He married Emelina Williams on April 28, 2006. Houston loved fishing and spending time with his family.

Houston is preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Edith Williams; his brothers; a sister; a son and grandson.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father two brothers, Bill Mackey and Jesse Mackey Jr., three sisters, Opal Pierce, Lassie Wilkerson and Deloris Nelson (Gary).
