■ U. S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham, D-N.M., chairman of the Congressio­nal Hispanic Caucus, lost her bid to penalize Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., who called for the arrest of any illegal immigrants attending the State of the Union address when the House voted 231-187 to kill a resolution condemning Gosar for the move.

■ Nicole Morris, 35, a firefighte­r- paramedic in Vero Beach, Fla., who is seven months pregnant, has been told by her supervisor­s that she is ineligible for light duty under the terms of a union contract and that she will have to carry out her regular duties until she gives birth.

■ Callie Schenker, 22, who lives near Bolivar, Mo., said she pulled into her driveway to the sight of her neighbor’s Corgi sitting on the back of her one-eyed horse, Cricket, and recorded a 15-second video of the pony and dog riding away into the darkness.

■ Pedro Bernar- Santiago, 20, was arrested on charges of malicious injury and public intoxicati­on after he was seen kicking and hitting a toilet at a strip club in Myrtle Beach, S.C., causing a flood that seeped into the club’s main lobby, police reported.

■ Cindy Sue Underwood, 35, an elementary school principal in Wichita Falls, Texas, told parents but not police that three 6-yearolds used a school iPad to take photos as they engaged in sexual acts in a classroom, resulting in Underwood being charged with failure to report abuse, authoritie­s said.

■ Raheem Oliver, 38, of Phoenix, pleaded guilty in federal court in Virginia to scamming consumers out of nearly $500,000 by operating a fake magazine-subscripti­on company, including telling people they owed fines and legal fees for unpaid subscripti­ons, prosecutor­s said.

■ Onix Afanador, 36, of Pensacola, Fla., was sentenced to 20 years in prison for aggravated battery on a pregnant woman after prosecutor­s said he deliberate­ly crashed his vehicle into a utility pole in an attempt to kill the woman’s unborn child.
