Nell Cox, 94, of Bella Vista died Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at a local skilled care center. She was born Aug. 8, 1923.

Kimberley Koenigsede­r,

a longtime resident of Bentonvill­e, passed away on Feb. 9, 2018. She was born on June 7, 1980, in North Little Rock to Randy Scott Burt and Lorie Comer Gunter.

Kim, or Kimmey K as she was known among friends and family, will be remembered as a loving mother, naturally beautiful, passionate beyond belief, and full of spirit. She loved her community and was involved in several local chapters of Celebrate Recovery.

Kim’s survivors include her mother, Lorie; love of her life, Casey Koenigsede­r; beloved children, Kane, Eleanor, and Shepherd Koenigsede­r; grandmothe­r, Diane Burt; sisters, Jenniffer Jacobs and Haley Burt; three nieces; two nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Randy.

Sally Ann Downum,

67-year-old longtime resident of Elm Springs, Ark., died on Feb. 7, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. She was born Oct. 5, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa.

She was the daughter of James Joseph VonTersch and Loretta Baurely VonTersch. Sally Ann married Donald Wayne Downum on Nov. 15, 1968. She worked as a cook for the Springdale school system for many years and also was a cook for the Kappa Delta Sorority House at the University of Arkansas in Fayettevil­le, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; James and Loretta VonTersch and two sisters, Angie and Joan Catherine.

She is survived by her husband Donald Downum of the home; two sons, Chad Downum and wife Sarah, Brad Downun and wife Julie; and one daughter, Amy Hood and husband Jason all of Elm Springs, Ark., as well as six grandchild­ren.

Services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at the Elm Springs United Methodist Church in Elm Springs, Ark. Burial will follow at the Elm Springs Cemetery with Carl Palmer officiatin­g. Johnnie Bob “Jaybee”

Alley, 94, was born March 4, 1923, in New Blaine, Ark. to Winnie and Oscar Jennings Lowrey and died Feb. 6, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark.

She attended both Fort Smith and Benton, Ark., schools before graduating from high school in Dallas, Texas.

Mrs. Alley was a devoted wife and mother, staying home to raise her family while living in Benton and Fort Smith. In 1969, she began working at Sparks Medical Center in Fort Smith as the mail room supervisor. She retired from Sparks after more than 36 years of service.

She moved to Butterfiel­d Trail Village in Fayettevil­le in 2009. She was a member of First Presbyteri­an Church, Fort Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 67 years Charles P. Alley, her sons, Dr. Gary L Alley and Calvin Lowrey Alley.

She is survived by her sister, Willye Stender of Fort Smith; one daughter, Trude Moore and her husband Dennis of Fayettevil­le; daughter in law Marilyn Alley of Greenwood; five grandchild­ren, Chris Alley, Sarah Curry (Patrick) and Justin Moore (Sarah) all of Fayettevil­le, Duayne Alley (Rhiana) and Charles Alley (Michele) all of Fort Smith; six great grandchild­ren and another great grandchild due in June.

A celebratio­n of her life will be held at First Presbyteri­an Church, Fort Smith on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery.

Gregory McMahon Sr. died Feb. 2, 2018. He was husband of Carol Lee McMahon and the father of Kerrilynn M. Relle, Blaine G McMahon, Jr., and Leslie M. Franklin. FAYETTEVIL­LE — Judith Carol Smith, age 81, of Fayettevil­le, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2018. She was born Dec. 17, 1936, in Holdenvill­e, Okla., the daughter of Haskell Hall and Marguerite Bainbridge Biles Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Warren Smith; two daughters, Elizabeth Lowder and Belinda Norris and a sister, Janet Murphy.

She was a homemaker and her greatest joys in life were her family, quilting and church. She provided a loving home for her family. She was an avid quilter and a member of Son’s Chapel Quilting Club. She was a member of Sequoyah Untied Methodist Church and was a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

She is survived by two sons, Paul Warren Smith Jr. of Oklahoma City and Michael Bruce Smith and his wife Darcy of Fayettevil­le; a daughter, Dorothy Sue Whitehead and her husband Michael of Fayettevil­le; five grandchild­ren, Hannah Carol Smith, Woody Michael Smith, Jennie Marie Thompson, Mollie Kay Addison and Paul Nathaniel Whitehead and one great-grandchild, Hadley Elizabeth Thompson.

Sue Jaber, 64, of Fort Smith passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, in Fort Smith. She was born Sept. 9, 1953, to the late Kade and Sabra Jaber.

She had a degree in microbiolo­gy. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Melinda A. Jaber.

She is survived by a sister, Sarah Jaber of Fayettevil­le, Ark., as well as many cousins and other loved ones.

Lorraine Bennett, 93, of Goshen died Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at a skilled care center. She was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Castle Dale, Utah, the daughter of Mary Gertrude Jorgensen and Douglas LaVern Boulden.

Carma enjoyed playing the piano, reading and time spent with her family.

ROGERS — Family and friends mourn the passing of

Leona Anna Drews, 87, on Feb. 3, 2018. Leona was born Dec. 3, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Reynold and Anna Drews.

After graduating from Foreman High in 1949, she worked for the Chicago Branch of Hartford Insurance for 36 years and the Silberman Furs for 6 years. Before moving to Rogers in 1991, she traveled extensivel­y.

She loved her family and her pets, reading and shopping at garage sales and flea markets with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers, Ralph (Lois) Drews, Elaine Williams, Norma (Daniel Jr.) Quinn, Harold (Sally) Drews, LaVerne (Arthur Jr) Price and John (Judy) Drews.

Leona is survived by 14 nieces and nephews.

Duncan, 45, passed away Feb. 6, 2018, in Rogers, Ark. She was born April 5, 1972, in Rapid City, S.D., to Richard and Patricia Howell Sletten.

Cindy worked as an executive secretary for Peterson’s and was a former title clerk. She was also member of Neighborho­od Church in Bentonvill­e.

She was preceded in death by her father Richard Sletten.

She was survived by her husband James “Jim” Duncan of Rogers; her mother, Patricia Howell; children MacKenzie Duncan of Rogers, Rachel Duncan of Decatur, Candance Clark (Aaron) of Pea Ridge; her siblings Tammy Freeman, BreAnna McAllen (Robert) and Jeff Sletten; one grandchild Austin Clark.

Lewis, 61, passed away in Rogers on Feb. 8, 2018. He was born on Feb. 1, 1957, in Hampton, Iowa.

He was the husband of 34 years to Carol (Childs) Lewis.

John loved fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He was a simple man who could be easily entertaine­d.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of Rogers; two sons, Joseph Lewis of Prairie Grove and Brian Lewis of Oregon; daughter Deanna Keefer of Indiana; siblings James and Stan Lewis and Phyllis Kline all of Iowa; grandchild Baily Keefer and his beloved fur baby Wiggles, aka “Barney.”

ROGERS — Mr. Joel

Davis Patterson, age 85, went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018.

He was a member of the Bella Vista Church of Christ. He left this life peacefully at home with family by his side.

Joel was born in Oxford, Ark., on March 25, 1932. He grew up in Little Rock, where he graduated from Little Rock Central High.

Like many growing up during his generation, the Naval victories of WWII inspired him to serve as a Naval officer in defense of his country. He subsequent­ly received a congressio­nal nomination to attend the U.S. Naval Academy, from which he graduated in 1955.

Serving 10 years in the Navy, most of them as a submariner, he rose to the rank of lieutenant commander before leaving to return to his beloved Arkansas. He became an engineer with Arkansas Power and Light in Little Rock, where he worked for 14 years before taking a position to manager the Environmen­tal Division for Middle South Utilities (now Entergy) in New Orleans, La.

He retired 12 years later to Rogers, Ark., to enjoy his retirement close to family. Before the onset of Alzheimer’s deprived him of a full life, Joel enjoyed various intellectu­al pursuits, golf, fishing, Bible study, and making improvemen­ts to whatever home in which he made a life for his family.

Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Vera Patterson.

Mr. Patterson is survived by his loving wife of 61 and a half years, Rosalyn; his brothers Jim of Houston, Texas, and Charles of Louisa, Va.; his three sons, Jim of Baton Rouge, La., Jeff of Tulsa, Okla., Jon of Huntsville, Ala.; his daughter Jerri and her husband Dallas of Rogers; six grandchild­ren, Chris and Chad Dobbs and Tori Dobbs Hunt, and Jared, Wesley, and Rosalyn Patterson; his four great-grandchild­ren, Callum, Meira, Mailee Dobbs, and Sydni Hunt.

James Dhein, 81, of Springdale, Ark., passed away peacefully Feb. 6, 2018, surrounded by family. He was born March 13, 1936, in St. Cloud, Minn.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sharon Dhein, the love of his life.

He is survived by five sons, Daniel (Dodi) of Tallahasse­e, Fla., James (Renee) and Randall (Laurie) both of Andover, Minn., Ron (Linda), and Jerry (Natasha) both of Springdale, Ark.; one daughter, Shari Dhein (Myron) of Noel, Mo.; brother Clarence Dhein of Brooklyn Center, Minn.; 11 grandchild­ren and four great-grandchild­ren; nieces and nephews; and beloved pet, Aldi .

Being raised in very hard times as a child his achieved desire and goal was to be an excellent provider, dedicated and devoted family man, husband and loyal friend to many. Well done.

Garry “Crow” Galyean, 75, of Sulphur Springs, Ark., died Feb. 8, 2018, at Circle of Life in Bentonvill­e, Ark. He was born July 31, 1942, in Bentonvill­e, Ark., to Vincent and Esther (Crouse) Galyean.

Crow proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He drove a

truck for Walmart.

Preceded in death by his parents; his brother Larry Joe Galyean; granddaugh­ter Courtnie Smith; nephew Lance Galyean and brotherin-law Wayne Fischer.

WEST FORK — Terry John (TJ) Mather, born Feb 18, 1959, went home to be with His Lord and Savior on Jan 29, 2018.

Terry was a loving son, father, brother and friend. He was gifted in song writing, poetry, and art.

He was adored by his family, had many friends and considered them all his family. Terry had a love for the American Indian and culture that he carried with him all of his life. “Until we see you again, Go rest High on that Mountain.”

WINSLOW — Ronnie William Murphy, 71, of Winslow, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayettevil­le. He was born Aug. 27, 1946, in Hollis, Okla., to Mike and Mary (White) Murphy.

Ronnie, as a young man, served six years with the Oklahoma National Guard. He enjoyed gardening, riding motorcycle­s and traveling with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandson’s sports activities. Above all, Ronnie loved his Lord and searching the scriptures. He attended Winslow Assembly of God and actively helped with its Food Bank.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jo Nell (Wadley) Murphy; a daughter, Paula Schoonover and husband Jake; three grandsons, Brandon, Gavin and Aidan, all of Greenland; and three brothers, Jimmy, Eddie and Bobby Murphy all of Amarillo, Texas.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his son, Steven Linn Murphy in 2012.

AURORA, Ill. — Sophie (Sue) Murawski (nee Chlopecki) was born in Chicago, Ill., to Stanley & Mary Chlopecki. A former resident of Worth, Ill., she moved to Rogers in 1977.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Rogers. She enjoyed bowling, Jeopardy, puzzles, reading, playing cards/ dice and was a volunteer at the Friendship Thrift Store. She was a great teller of stories and jokes.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her son Joseph, granddaugh­ter Aubrey, sisters Cecelia, Lottie, Kay, & brothers Adam, Stanley, John.

She is survived by her daughter Janice of Aurora, Ill., son Gary (Lisa) of Virginia Beach, Va., and daughter-in-law Maryann Schroder (Bruce) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six grandchild­ren, Sharon, Lisamarie, Meghann, Robb, Samantha, Jennifer and seven great-grandsons, Aidan, Ryan, Braden, Sam, Owen, Charlie, Brantley will miss her dearly.

PINEVILLE, Mo. — Joseph Dale Myers, 36, passed from this life surrounded by family on Feb. 8, 2018. He bravely fought brain cancer for three years. Joseph was born to Richard and Joquetta Myers on July 22, 1981.

He leaves behind both of his parents; two daughters, Michaela and Hazel and their mother Crystal Barkfelt of Bentonvill­e; a step-father, Bill Fargo of Jane; one brother, Justin Keith Myers of Jane; one sister, Traci Cook of Brookland, Ark.; one step sister, Kelly Unwer of Garfield; two lifelong friends, Silas Groh of Pineville and Angel Duncan of Anderson and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph worked as a mason and a tree trimmer. He enjoyed monster trucks, heavy metal music, playing video games and spending time at the river with family and friends.
