BELLA VISTA — Bernadine Benson, 84, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 13, 2018, at home with her family by her side. She was born Aug. 29, 1933, in Denton, Texas, to Paul and Bernice Strickland. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., March 24 at the Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista. Full obituary details will be released closer to the service. FAYETTEVIL­LE — Bonnie Marie (Savoy) Carr, 54, a resident of Fayettevil­le, Ark., passed away on Feb. 15, 2018. She was born on Nov. 23, 1963, in Morgan City, La., to Leonard and Rita (Dupuy) Savoy.

On Sept. 26, 2009, she would marry her loving husband, Michael Dale Carr.

Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, daughter, sister, sister-inlaw, aunt and friend. She was a longtime employee for Lowes Home Improvemen­t where they honored her for her faithful service. People would fall in love with her after spending any amount of time with her. She had a contagious laugh that would lift the spirits of those around her. Bonnie was an avid football fan, especially when it came to watching her New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. She also loved to cook and dance.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Rita Savoy; and three brothers, Barry Savoy, David Savoy and Mark Savoy.

Left to cherish Bonnie’s memory are her husband of over eight years, Michael Carr of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; one son, Justin Faubus of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; two daughters, Kasey Estes and husband Jeremiah of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; Lana Carr of Prairie Grove, Ark.; six grandchild­ren, Lula Estes, Anzel Estes, Dalton Faulk, Blake Faulk, Colin Faulk and Ella Faulk; one great-grandchild, Braylon Faulk; four brothers, Calvin Savoy and wife Darlene of Centervill­e, La.; Toby Savoy (Wendy) of Amelia, La.; Travis Savoy and wife Lesa of Morgan City, La., and Dale Savoy and wife Tana of Morgan City, La.; sisters, Denise Aucoin and husband Melvin of Amelia, La., Gwen Savoy of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; and sister-in-law Dianne Savoy of Baton Rouge, La.

Visitation services will be on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, from 4–6 p.m. at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home in Springdale. Funeral services will be on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Fayettevil­le First Assembly of God. Bonnie’s final resting place will be Mount Comfort Cemetery in Fayettevil­le, Ark. FORT SMITH — Melanie S. Jaber, 64, of Fort Smith passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, in Fort Smith. She was born Sept. 9, 1953, to the late Kade and Sabra Jaber.

She had a degree in microbiolo­gy.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Melinda A. Jaber. She is survived by a sister, Sarah Jaber of Fayettevil­le, Ark. as well as many cousins and other loved ones.

Rosary will be 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Fort Smith. Memorial Mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Fort Smith with inurnment of cremains to follow at Christ the King Columbariu­m.

LOWELL — Garland Lee Gregory, 67, of Lowell passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born April 25, 1950, in Santa Rosa, Calif., to Garner and Lilian Bailey Gregory.

Garland worked for Allens in the Maintenanc­e Department. He liked hunting and fishing. He enjoyed going four wheeling in the outdoors, going to storage auctions and was the best fish fryer. He loved his family.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Carolyn Johns, Lena Sisco and Debbie Bowden, two brothers, Wayne and Joe Gregory and one grandson, Jayden Jones. Survivors include his wife, Shelle Jones Gregory of the home; his parents; two sons, Leslie Jones and wife Courtney of Iowa and Jediah Haley of Berryville; one daughter, Shawna Gregory of Springdale; two brothers, Terry Gregory of Pettigrew and James Gregory and wife Gwyn of Lowell; three granddaugh­ters, Taylor and Taryn Stevens and Kiya Jones; two brothers-inlaw, Bobby Jones and wife Gloria of Lowell; Jackie Jones of Rogers; sister-in-law Kelly Edwards and husband Patrick of Garfield; several nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

OMAHA — Zack Allan Withrow, 41, Omaha, died Feb. 6, 2018. Memorial visitation is 2-5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at Omaha High School. PRAIRIE GROVE — Ruth Rae (Schauer) Black, age 64, a resident of Prairie Grove, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Fayettevil­le, Ark.. She was born April 22, 1953, in Jamestown, N.D., the daughter of Walter and Marie (Jundt) Schauer.

She received her education at Streeter Public School and graduated from Jamestown High School. Ruth loved spending her time with all of her grandchild­ren, they were her world. She was also an avid walker and enjoyed being outside every chance she could. She was a very giving and nurturing woman. If anyone was in need, she was there.

She and her husband John Black married on June 6, 1970, at the First Assembly of God Church in Jamestown, N.D. They were blessed with four children — Tina Randle and husband Gary of Reynolds, N.D., William Brian Black of Fayettevil­le, Ark., April Black of Prairie Grove, Ark., and Nicole Edwards and husband Johnathan of Fayettevil­le, Ark. John and Ruth were also blessed with seven grandchild­ren — Alyssa Black, Shelby Black, Jonathan Black, Hayden Black, Landen Black, Zachary Barnes and Karter Edwards and one grandchild to be born in September 2018.

Ruth is also survived by five sisters, Lilla Mae Feigert of Jamestown, N.D., Inez Borth of Cozad, Neb., Delphine Benson and husband Gilbert of Jamestown, N.D., Annette Anderson of Beresford, S.D., and Gladys Krenz and husband Jim of Jamestown, N.D., and two brothers, Marvin Schauer and wife Violet of Jamestown, N.D., and Stanley Schauer and wife June of Fessenden, N.D.

Ruth was preceded in death by one grandson Jonathan Black, her parents, sisters Bardella, Darlene and Jeanette as well as brothers Kenneth, Milo and Gary.

SPRINGDALE — Velma Furlong, 64, of Springdale, Ark., passed away Feb. 14, 2018, at her home. She was born on July 1, 1953, in Caldwell, Idaho, the daughter of Dennis and Velma Mae Black Cornwell.

She was preceded in death by her father Dennis Cornwell, brother Dennis Ragains, her mother Velma Cornwell and brother Bobby Ragains.

She was survived by her husband, Richard Furlong; children David Jones, Joyce Jones, Ray Furlong, Richard Moore, Serina Smith, Robert Turett and Roxxanne Turett; her siblings, Pat and Frank Ragains, Sheryl Stanphill, Sherrie Pond, Sharon Rogness, Dennis Cornwell Jr. and Denise Wade; five grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be 12 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Benton County Funeral Home and the graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at the McDaniel Cemetery in Lowell.
