Police: Youths connected to food truck burglaries

FAYETTEVILLE — Police said three youths are suspected of burglarizing six food trucks and a business last month.

Andres Barrett, 18, of 403 N. Neal St. in Prairie Grove and Gabriel Gass, 18, of 2054 S. Pumpkin Ridge Drive in Fayetteville were arrested on unrelated charges but later told police they participated in the Jan. 31 burglary at the Looking Glass at 46 E. Township Drive.

That same night, six food trucks were burglarized near Lake Fayetteville at 4618 N. College Ave. Burglars took $350 and did about $12,000 in damage to the trailers, police said.

Gass told police he, Barrett and two juveniles burglarized the business and food trucks, according to a preliminary arrest report. Barrett denied participating in the food truck burglaries, according to the report.

Police said one of the boys was arrested Feb. 7 on suspicion of breaking and entering other vehicles, not related to the food trucks, according to a police report. The boy told police he and three other people burglarized the business and food trucks but didn’t provide police with names, police said.

Barrett was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of breaking and entering a building, fraudulent use of a credit card, four counts of commercial burglary, fleeing, two counts of criminal mischief and theft of property, according to online records at the Washington County Detention Center. He was released Friday from the Washington County Detention Center with a bond of $7,500.

Gass was arrested Wednesday in connection with commercial burglary, breaking and entering a vehicle, theft of property and violation of probation or a suspended sentence. He was at the Washington County Detention Center with bonds of $5,000 on Friday.

Barrett and Gass have court hearings set for March 19. Barrett also has a court hearing Wednesday, jail records show.
