BELLA VISTA — Marvin Scovill, 74, of Bella Vista passed peacefully in his sleep Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018. Born Aug. 16, 1943, in Omaha, Neb, he spent most of his life in Omaha.

He learned jewelry repair and became a master jeweler and mentor.

BENTONVILL­E — Melissa Dawn Pinteric, 40, of Bentonvill­e passed away unexpected­ly Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018. She was born Dec. 19, 1977, in Rogers.

Melissa’s life revolved around caring for her children and she was active in special needs support groups. For the past 18 years she shared her life with her husband Jon Pinteric of the home.

Other survivors include her children, Bryan and Addison Pinteric; her mother, Peggy Pruitt (Tommy) of Bella Vista; two brothers, Darrell Vermillion (Dawn) of Texas and Donald Vermillion (Aubrey) of Bella Vista; grandmothe­r, Edith Vermillion of Hope; her in-laws, Frank and Lynn Pinteric of Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Melinda Charlene (Duke) Steinsiek, 53, died Feb. 18, 2018, at her home in Fayettevil­le, Ark. Melinda was born Sept. 17, 1964 in Little Rock, Ark., to Faye Duke and Charles Duke.

A graduate of Cabot High School, she continued on to earn her nursing degree from the University of Arkansas. Melinda worked in the Critical Care Unit in Sparks Medical Center in Fort Smith, followed by 10 years in the operating room at Washington Regional Medical Center.

Much of Melinda’s work success came as she moved into an administra­tion position with North Hills Surgery Center. As the director, Melinda was recognized by both the business and medical community for her expertise and commitment of care she provided to patients and employees. In 2003, the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal honored Melinda as one of their “40 under 40”, 40 individual­s under the age of 40 nominated as best in class by their peers in all industries.

She was later recognized as the Northwest Arkansas Business Woman of the Year though her work and commitment with the Fayettevil­le Chamber of Commerce. She was also an avid supporter of the Children’s House. Melinda was always willing to help anyone in need and active in her community; however, her pride and joy came from family, her children, but especially her new grandson.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Scott Steinsiek; her two children, Shea Steinsiek (Jeremy Gunn) and Seth Steinsiek (Nea Jones); one grandchild, Vedder Mac Steinsiek.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home on North Crossover Road in Fayettevil­le, with family and friends officiatin­g. HARRISON — Dan Layton, 91, Harrison, died Feb. 20, 2018. He is survived by two sisters, Loretta Shettles and husband Jim and Peggy Bell all of Harrison. OMAHA — Ron Smith, 81, Omaha, died Feb. 10, 2018. Graveside service 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 23, at New Hope Cemetery; visitation 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. PEA RIDGE — Robert Louis Jines, 69, of Pea Ridge, died Feb. 20 at his home. He was born July 15, 1948, in Fayettevil­le to Robert Earle Jines and Billie Allen Jines.

He graduated from Springdale High School in 1966, then attended the University of Arkansas and graduated from SW Baptist in Bolivar, Mo. He married Carolyn Faye Werremeyer on Feb. 17, 1968, and served the U.S. Army overseas in Vietnam in 1969.

He taught elementary school in Monett, Mo., for several years and worked for American National Inns in Pea Ridge. He worked for Wal-Mart General Offices and was in manager training for the Cassville, Mo., Wal-Mart and an assistant manager for the McAlester, Okla., WalMart store.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and driving his Ford Mustangs.

Robert served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Viburnum, Missouri and was a member of The Ridge Church in Pea Ridge.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife, Carolyn of the home; a son, Michael Jines of Mt. Hood, Ore.; two daughters,

Cathy Yockey and husband Eddie of Pea Ridge, Stacy Luper and husband Lonnie of Fayettevil­le; a brother, Matt Jines and wife Debbie of Shell Knob, Mo.; a sister, Margaret Cheek and husband Jim of Pea Ridge; a grandson, Zach Coor of Fayettevil­le and five granddaugh­ters, Mie Bach-Pederson of Denmark, Katharina Koster of Germany, Alessia Julmy of Switzerlan­d, Oline Brekke of Norway, Benedetta Pigiani of Italy.

A graveside service is set for 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 26 at Fayettevil­le National Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. ROGERS — Larry (Sam) Adams, age 79, of Rogers, Ark., passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018. He was born on April 7, 1938, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Truey E. and Mildred B. Adams.

Sam was a veteran and served in the Marine Corps directly out of high school.

A celebratio­n of Sam’s life will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 15315 AR Hwy. 94, Pea Ridge, Ark., with Pastor Richard Mayer officiatin­g.

Sam attended Barber School in Des Moines, Iowa, and continued his profession as a barber for the past 56 years. Sam was a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfathe­r and most of all a friend to whoever he met.

Sam enjoyed tinkering in his barbershop­s, going to flea markets, fishing, traveling to his winter home in Texas and spending time with family. He was a die-hard Arkansas Razorback fan and loved to watch his ballgames.

Sam is preceded in death by his father, mother and four sisters. Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Donna Adams. His three children from his first wife, Helen; Marty (Bethanne) Adams, Doug (Anita) Adams, Lori (Mark) Lunsford and his stepchildr­en Tony (Rhonda) Lakey, Terry (Pam) Lakey and Scott Lakey. Sam is survived by three brothers, Ervin Adams of Florida, Ed Adams of Iowa and Don Adams of Minnesota.

Sam loved his grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren dearly and his legacy will always be remembered as a great story teller and “horse trader”.

ROGERS — Jim Burkeen, “The Gutter King” of Rogers, 83, passed peacefully into heaven, on Friday, Feb.16, with his wife, Gay and his dog, Mickey by his side.

He was a loving husband, dad, granddad to his grandchild­ren and pappy to his great-grandchild­ren. He was saved and loved the Lord.

Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gay Burkeen, daughters, Debbie Doster (Larry) of Chapin, S.C., Wendy (Gary) Burkeen-Ruble of Rogers and son, James W. Burkeen, of Rogers, grandchild­ren; Kayce (Tim) Smith of Rogers, Kourtney (Tyler) Sinclair of Charlotte, N.C., and Kyle (Marissa) Van Deusen of Simpsonvil­le, S.C., and six great-grandchild­ren and his brother, Joe Burkeen of Milan, Mich., along with many other family and friends.

James Robert Burkeen was born Oct. 21, 1934, in Murray, Ky. Upon arriving in Rogers from the Detroit area in 1973, Jim started a guttering business and became involved in the community. He was a Rogers Little League baseball coach for many years and a member of Rogers Church of the Nazarene. He loved people and enjoyed sharing a laugh or a story, especially on KURM radio’s Dial-a-Trade program.

After a private family burial on Friday, the family will be available for a casual visit from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Rogers Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites, 1803 S. 52nd Street, Rogers, Ark., 72758. An informal celebratio­n of life gathering will follow, at 3 p.m. at the same address.

ROGERS — James Kelly Frachiseur, 55, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Feb. 19, 2018, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonvill­e, Ark. He was born May 20, 1962, in El Dorado, Ark., to Paul Ulysses and Ophelia Mae Howard Frachiseur.

James loved and enjoyed the outdoors and shared this love with his family as often as possible. He worked at Woodland Research Northwest for six years as a senior clinical research coordinato­r. He considered his co-workers family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Frachiseur; mother, Ophelia Whitley; and step-father, Olen Williams.

James is survived by his wife of more than 20 years, Pamela; five children, Mia, Katelyn, Aaron, Cody and Chris; step-mother Marilyn; two sisters, Millie and Molly; one brother, Kenneth; six grandchild­ren, Matthew, Angelina, Zayne, Lillian, Wylder and Colin and one baby girl, Olivia, on the way.

SPRINGDALE — Cyndi Crawford, 36, Springdale, died Feb. 16, 2018. Funeral was Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, Harrison. SPRINGDALE — William Fredrick Shafer, 76, a resident of Springdale, Ark., passed from this life on Feb. 20, 2018. He was born on April 29, 1941, in Scott City, Kan., to Carl and Alice (Mallory) Shafer.

On May 2, 1964, he married the love of his life, Elaine Dolorse (Lehman) Shafer.

William was a member of Heritage Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending. He was a hard worker and retired from George’s. He was passionate about fishing and garage selling. But most of all, he was a loving husband, son, father and grandfathe­r. He will be missed by all who knew him.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Franklin Shafer and Alice (Mallory) Shafer; his daughter, Patricia Lynn Shafer; sisters, Louise Huges, Helen Hignite and Thelma Holifield; brothers, Marvin Shafer, Glen Shafer and Jimmy Shafer.

Left to cherish William’s memory are his wife of 53 years, Elaine (Lehman) Shafer; children, William Shafer Jr. and wife Joy, Juanita McLellan and husband John, Thomas Shafer, Rebecca Sigurdson and husband Greg, Elizabeth Stacey and husband Jeremy; 14 grandchild­ren; five great-grandchild­ren; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Norma Shafer, Deana Shafer; and many friends.

WEST FORK — Denny Bruce Talley, age 68, of West Fork, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018. He was born Nov. 8, 1949, in Prairie Grove, the son of Theodore and Muriel Denny Talley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carroll Cunningham and a niece, Kimberly Lawrence.

He was an employee of Marshallto­wn Tools. He loved to go to cowboy actions shoots with his friends, as well as attend gun shows.

He is survived by two sisters, Neva Talley and Brenda Rankin both of West Fork; a niece, Laura Brown of Pineville, Mo., and three nephews, Jimmy Keith of Elkins, Tony Rankin and Wesley Rankin, both of West Fork.
