Part of Cave Springs under boil water order

CAVE SPRINGS — Residents along Arkansas 264 are under a boil water order until further notice, Police Chief Rick Crisman said.

A main water line broke around 6-7 a. m. Saturday, Crisman said. Many residents felt their water pressure go down around that time, but the west side of Osage Creek had no water for part of the day.

It took time to find the line as it was under 4 feet of water due to the recent flooding. It is still undetermined what caused the line to break, Mayor Travis Lee said in a Facebook post.

“Once the main was identified, we were able to use fire hoses as a bypass to allow water to the residents west of [Arkansas] 112,” he said.”

Water was restored as of 2: 30 p. m. Saturday to residents who live west of Osage Creek along Arkansas 264, but they are still under boil orders. Crisman said about 40 to 50 customers are affected.

The city is working on finding a permanent solution, he said Saturday.

“It’s not going to be a oneor two-day thing. It’s going to be several days,” Crisman said.

The rest of the city isn’t under the boil order, he said.

Lee said, “Under no circumstances was anyone at risk due to this issue. The boil order is a precautionary action due to the use of the fire hoses. All calls have been received and continuing to be answered and returned. We appreciate your patience and the line is of priority to be repaired immediately.”
