United Way of Northwest Arkansas is providing two free tax preparation and filing services that support local families. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is an in-person resource for individuals earning $54,000 or less. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. The Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation funds this Free Tax Service Initiative and CARE Community Center and WestARK RSVP provides the tax preparation and filing services.

The second free tax service is MyFreeTaxes.com, a free online tax service for individuals making $66,000 or less. This secure website can be used to file federal and state taxes in all 50 states and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This service is sponsored by H&R Block
