PREP BASEBALL

Bentonvill­e West 14, Alma 0

Kendall Thornton tossed a two-hitter to lead the Wolverines to the run-rule win Friday in the Best Sports Classic.

The sophomore allowed just two singles over five innings, while striking out four and not walking a man. He did hit a batter. Brian Gloeckler went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple and five RBIs to lead the West (2-0) offense. Maddox Thornton added two hits and three RBIS for the Wolverines.

West put the game with a seven-run fourth inning aided by four walks and two Alma errors.

Rogers High 10, Mountain Home 0

McKaden Templeton tossed a three-hitter and also drove in 3 runs to lead the Mounties to the easy win Friday in the Best Sports Classic.

Templeton allowed no runs on three hits, struck out seven and walked one over five innings. He also had a walk and a double. Hayden Seldomridg­e added two hits and drove in a run.

The Mounties took advantage of seven Mountain Home errors, scoring in four of the five innings.

Bentonvill­e High 22, Fort Gibson, Okla. 1

Payton Allen went 3-for-4 with two doubles and drove in four runs to lead the Tigers to the easy run-rule win in the Best Sports Classic.

Keaton Cloyd, Devin Ham added two hits each for Bentonvill­e (2-0). Austin Garrett also drove in four runs.

Nathan Lyons, Ryan Kneeshaw and Kam’Ron Mays Hunt combined on a two-hitters. Lyons picked up the win, allowing an unearned run on two hits. He struck out two and walked one. Rockwall (Texas) Heath 7, Fayettevil­le 2

Rockwall-Heath scored six runs in the fourth inning and went on to defeat Fayettevil­le.

Fayettevil­le was held to three hits and the Bulldogs made three errors. Beau Stuckey had a hit and an RBI for Fayettevil­le.

Springdale High 4, Watson Chapel 3

Three Bulldogs pitchers combined on a four-hitter to down Watson Chapel in the PBR Classic on Friday.

Will Mueller allowed just one hit over three innings with 4 strikeouts. Dylan Rollins and Ben Roach each pitched an inning with Roach earning the save.

Springdale (2-0) had just three hits with Alex Bowers leading the way going 2-for-2.

Springdale Har-Ber 7, Cabot 3

The Wildcats rallied from a 3-1 deficit to knock off Cabot on Friday to remain undefeated.

Har-Ber (3-0) led 1-0 before Cabot struck for three runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Wildcats took a 4-3 lead in the fourth and tacked on two more runs in the fifth.

Lucas McCain was 2-for-3 with a double for the Wildcats. Blaze Brothers was 2-for-4. Blake Adams had a pair of stolen bases.

Treshon Paschal went four innings and scattered 5 hits with 4 strikeouts to earn the win. Blake Benson pitched three innings and allowed just 2 hits with 5 strikeouts to earn the save.

The win moves the Wildcats into the semifinals at 10 a.m. today against North Little Rock at Burns Park. Booneville 10, FS Southside 7

The Bearcats used a five-run sixth inning to keep the Mavericks winless on the season.

Booneville blasted 13 hits including 4 doubles against a pair of Southside pitchers.

Mac Moody was 2-for-4 with a double for the Mavericks (0-3). Braiden Partin had 2 hits.

Poteau, Okla. 8, FS Northside 5

The Pirates rallied in the late innings to down Northside.

The Grizzlies had just two hits but scored two runs in the first and three more in the third to take a 5-2 lead.

Jackson Scrivner and Hunter Linam had the only hits for Northside with Scrivner blasting a double.

Boys

Rogers High 4, Hope 1

Nelson Rivas scored two goals to help the Mounties to the win Friday in the Texarkana tournament.

Willie Hernandez and Johan Rodriguez also added a goal apiece for Rogers (1-1).

Rogers Heritage 3, Pleasant Grove, Texas 1

Chris Cano had two goals and an assist to lead the War Eagles to the win Friday in the Texarkana tournament.

Jonathan Morales added a goal for Heritage (1-0). Springdale High 5, Bryant 4 (PKs)

The Bulldogs rallied from a 1-0 deficit to edge Bryant 5-4 on penalty kicks on Friday in the Fort Smith Invitation­al.

Jose Vega found the back of the net with 15 minutes left in the match to tie the score at 1-1.

The Bulldogs will take on Springdale Har-Ber at 11:30 a.m. today. Springdale Har 2, FS Southside 0

The Wildcats posted a shutout to open the Fort Smith Invitation­al.

Denison Pinto and Jesus Zizumbo each scored for Har-Ber, who will take on Springdale High at 11:30 a.m. today.

PREP SOFTBALL

Bentonvill­e 12, Greenbrier 0

Cailey Cochran threw a complete-game three-hitter for her second win this week, and Keelah Griffith had a home run and drove in three runs for Bentonvill­e (2-0) in a game played at Vilonia.

Cochran, a junior right-hander, struck out 13 and walked one and didn’t allow a hit until a leadoff double in the fifth.

The Lady Tigers already led 1-0 when Griffith hit her home run to lead off the fourth. Megan Crownover finished with three hits to lead a 12-hit attack, while Jenna Wildeman and McKenzie Vaughan each drove in two runs. Rogers Heritage 11, Bradley 2

Baleigh Birdcreek and Lauren James drove in three runs each to lead the Lady War Eagles to the win Friday in the Sylvan Hills tournament.

Heritage (2-0) used a pair of big innings, scoring six in the second and five in the third, to cruise to the big win. Bird creek, Kayla Paulo and Alexa Enos each went 2-for-3.

Rogers Heritage 13, Sylvan Hills 2

Lora Brown and Lauren James each went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs apiece to lead the Lady War Eagles to the win.

Baleigh Birdcreek added two hits, while Berkley Cole also drove in three runs for the Lady War Eagles (3-0). Allyson Fultz picked up the win in the circle, allowing a run on two hits over four innings of work. She struck out three and walked one.

FS Northside 10, Gentry 0

The Lady Bears banged out 15 hits and scored a run-rule win against Gentry on Friday.

Olivia Williams was 4-for-4 with 2 RBIs for Northside, and Meegan Jones was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Williams and Jones each had a triple.

Carissa Goosens was 2-for-2 for Gentry with a double.

Berryville 11, Springdale High 8

A four-run first inning gave the Lady Bobcats the cushion it needed to hold off Springdale on Thursday.

Anna Caroline Stone and Lexi Woods had 2 hits each and Stone drove in 3 runs to lead the Berryville offense.

Maycee Trolinger was 2 for-4 with a triple and 2 RBIs for Springdale (1-1) and Ashley Bradley was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Alexis Samarin had 2 RBIs for the Lady Bulldogs.

FS Southside 14, Val Alstyne 2

Meliah Hunter scattered 6 hits and struck out 4 in a complete-game win Friday in tournament action in Texas.

Callin Massey was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs for the Mavericks. Hannah Houge was 2-for-3. Madi Conklin and Piper Morgan each tripled for Southside.

In Friday’s late game, Anna knocked off the Mavericks 7-2, scoring five runs in the second inning.

Massey took the loss in the circle, allowing 5 earned runs. Massey and Conklin each had 2 hits for Southside (2-2).

COLLEGE BASEBALL

College of the Ozarks 5, Ecclesia College 4 (10)

Tyler Whiteis hit a solo walk-off home run with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift College of the Ozarks on Friday.

The Bobcats led 4-0 after six innings, but gave up 4 runs in the top of the seventh inning that allowed the Royals to tie the score at 4-4.

Ecclesia College got to CofO starter Colian Thrasher in the seventh after being shutout up to that point. Ttrayson LaCour, Stevie Morphew, Jeremy Green and Garrett Jones opened the inning with four straight singles with Jones’ single driving in LaCour. With the bases loaded, Cameron Dougherty was hit by a pitch to plate Morphew. A pair of fielder’s choice grounders plated two more runs to tie the game at 4-4.

The game remained tied until Whiteis, who was 4-for-5, delivered the game-winner. Green was 3-for-5 and Morphew was 2-for-4 for the Royals.
