University of Arkansas-Fort Smith
OVERVIEW
For nearly 7,000 students each semester, the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith offers a dynamic learning environment, a vibrant international population, opportunities to travel and study abroad, and a host of prestigious degree programs.
Small class sizes, combined with innovative, applied learning opportunities, have led to a record of high job and graduateschool placement rates after graduation, an indication of the student- centered education that has defined UAFS since its founding in 1928. An $80 million endowment fund propels the university and its students into a promising future.
ACADEMICS
Students can choose from a growing slate of educational opportunities at UAFS, including programs leading to more than 60 bachelor’s and associate degrees and 35 certificates. Areas of study in the university’s vast spectrum of offerings include business, performing and visual arts, health careers, science, technology, education, communication and social sciences.
In the fall of 2015, UAFS completed a role and scope change to begin offering the school’s first master’s degree in health care administration, an online program available to students with a bachelor’s degree in areas such as nursing, health care administration and business administration.
FACILITIES
The university opened a 58,000-square-foot visual- arts facility, Windgate Art & Design, in fall 2015, providing state- ofthe-art accommodations to students in the visual-arts curricula. A student-supported recreation and wellness center, which opened in fall 2016, features a rock- climbing wall, cardio and weight-training machines, basketball and volleyball courts, and areas for multipurpose use. Such projects begin the 15-year transformation of the campus in accordance with the university’s updated master plan.
