Zach Seidel, the director of multimedia communications and digital media for Maryland-Baltimore County, ran the school’s athletic department’s Twitter account during Friday’s NCAA first-round game against Virginia. UMBC became the first No. 16 seed to defeat a No. 1 seed, knocking off Virginia 74-54. Here are some of Seidel’s highlights for the UMBCAthletics Twitter account Friday:

Replying to CBS Sports analyst Seth Davis’ “Virginia. Sharpie” tweet: “Virginia leads UMBC 13-10 in a game that is still happening. In fact, there’s 7:20 left in the 1st half.”

“So…ummm…the Kansas State and Creighton fans are now UMBC fans.”

“We won 24 games and a conference title, it’s not like we are a YMCA team, dude.”

“Just havin fun, cuz that’s all 16 seeds are supposed to do.”

“We’re just a 16 seed, happy to be here, also we’re up 35-24 on No. 1 Virginia with Jairus [Lyles] going to the line to shoot 3 ft with 15:52 left.”
