WASHINGTON COUNTY

Mount Sequoyah Assembly in Fayetteville, 150 N. Skyline Drive, offers the annual Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. April 1 at Vesper Point. The Rev. Clint Schnekloth, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, will deliver the sermon. Amanda Stokes and Amy Coonfield will provide music.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, 2901 E. Zion Road, Suite 17, plans the following services for Holy Week: Palm Sunday with palm processional,

8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday; Maundy Thursday service with communion, 6:30 p.m. Thursday; Good Friday service , 6:30 p.m. Friday; Easter services, 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. April 1, with a potluck breakfast served between services.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, 224 N. East Ave., celebrates Palm Sunday with a processional up North College Avenue and down West Dickson Street, entering the church from East, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

The church presents its choir in a performance of the Messiah, part two, by George Friderich Handel, during a Palm Sunday Evensong at 5:30 p.m. today. Jack Cleghorn, organist and choirmaster, will conduct, with Ann Rye and Linda Kelly on organ.

The church presents “Meditation and Teaching with Anam Thubten,” a Tibeten Buddhist teacher, at 7 p.m. April 5.

First Presbyterian Church in Springdale, 100 S. Gutensohn Road, begins Holy Week with a procession of palms at the 10:15 a.m. service Sunday. A Maundy Thursday and Good Friday communion service begins at 7 p.m. Thursday. Easter worship, with a flowering of the cross, begins at 10:30 a.m. April 1.

The church also plans an Easter egg hunt for children at 10 a.m. March 31, and an Easter potluck breakfast at 9:30 a.m. April 1.

Genesis Church in Fayetteville, 205 Martin Luther King Blvd., a campus of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, offers Holy Week services at 12:05 p.m. Monday to Friday. Lunch follows at 12:35 p.m. Various pastors from Central will speak during the services.

The church offers Easter services at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. April 1.

Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, 6 W. Dickson St., presents its chancel choir and orchestra performing Theodore Dubois’ Seven Last Words of Christ for Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The church hosts the M&N Augustine Foundation’s 24th annual “Trent Trumbo Memorial Easter Feed” on March 31. Volunteers are needed for many roles, including preparing Easter baskets, baking, serving, delivering and cleaning up.

Easter services include: Classic worship, 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. April 1 in the church sanctuary; contemporary worship, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. April 1 in the Great Hall; Genesis worship, 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. April 1 at the Genesis campus.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Rogers, 840 W. Palm Sunday, worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday; Maundy Thursday, worship service at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a 24-hour prayer vigil; Easter, early worship service, at 8:30 a.m. April 1, followed by breakfast, at Forest Hills Church; Easter, worship service, 10:30 a.m. April 1 at Highland.

The church hosts James Garrett and “Tribute to John Denver” at 2 p.m. April 22, benefiting the Village House adult day program and the Bella Vista Public Library.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., marks Palm Sunday with just one service, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. A Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. Thursday includes communion. A Good Friday Tenebrae, a service of darkness, is planned for 6 p.m. Friday. Two worship services are planned for Easter Sunday, a traditional service at 8:30 a.m. April 1 and a blended service at 10:45 a.m. April 1.

The church offers an Easter egg hunt at 4 p.m. March 31.

Holiday Island Community Church, 188 Stateline Drive, presents Ellen Stephenson in concert from 1 to 2:15 p.m. April 7, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the church. The free concert of Stephenson’s original music includes guest artists Jim Swiggart, T.J. Strecker and Cat Templeton.
