Bentonville West 12, Southmoore, Okla. 5 West jumped out to a 5-0 lead, then the Wolverines used a six-run seventh to pull away from Southmoore and claim their first victory in the Central Arkansas Invitational.

West (7-5) banged out 11 hits, with Hunter Mayes and Will Jarrett each recording two hits and an RBI. Kendall Thornton capped the seventh-inning outburst with a bases-clearing double, while Jason Gloeckler, Roger Alexander and Seth Schonauer drove in two runs apiece.

Dylan Carter pitched four innings and picked up the win, while four other relievers were used to complete the win.

The Wolverines will close out their portion of the tournament with a 12:30 p.m. game today against host Little Rock Catholic.
