Where I live: in Sherwood on 4.5 acres that once was a goat farm.

Occupation: I am the director of the North Little Rock Mayor’s Youth Council, a service-learning organization of 75 teenagers.

My favorite space: My most favorite space of all is my garden. The kids on the Youth Council have created a garden called “The Giving Ground” where they grow vegetables and flowers. We sell the flowers to buy groceries for the Canvas Church Homeless Outreach dinners, and we grow vegetables to give to low income families. But the garden is dormant now, so I’ll tell you about my favorite room. My favorite room is my dining room.

Why? It’s peaceful and reflects my love of art and the outdoors. I love the still life paintings and the little bay window where I can sit and read or work and see the bird feeder and the squirrels. But mostly I love the room because every Monday night it’s filled with teenagers who are making dolls for the nursing home, making pet toys for the North Little Rock Animal Shelter or painting kindness rocks to place around the metro area. It’s also where we plan their many community service projects.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: There is nothing that I would do to change that spot. Hearing their chatter and laughter makes my day! I’m happiest when my house is full of kids.
