Place your bets on Joe
In case you don’t follow news, Joe Biden would like to beat the hell out of Donald Trump, and Trump sees a different scenario with Joe on the ground crying like a baby.
Although Joe’s four years older and in a different weight class, my money would be on Joe. Fueled by righteous indignation over Trump’s crude, demeaning style of governing, I think Joe would deck Donnie one minute in. It needs to be in public, not behind the barn, because Donnie would lie about it, despite his bloodied nose.
Joe is not without fault; he should have read the cartoon in Friday morning’s paper with the youngster writing, “I will not act like the president” on the chalkboard.
I recommend more civilized contests between the two 70-some-yearold third-graders masquerading as world leaders. What about a short essay on “What really makes America great,” or a short list of words to define and spell correctly, like empathy, ethical, dignity, and presidential? I’d throw in a hard word like hubris.
One last suggestion would be a contest where Joe and Donnie have to answer basic questions on history, geography, or the judicial system. A bipartisan committee could grade the results and the FBI could keep it honest. Joe would win these contests, but the results would be contested in the media.
Let’s add juvenile to that word list. DANIEL SHERMAN
