On rights of women
Rep. French Hill claims he’s all for small government when it comes to policing Wall Street shenanigans, but when it comes to women’s rights, it seems he’s all for using government to oppress them. After all, women are just women and Hill is a man of the swamp.
Hill claims to be pro-life, and so brags about his vote to fiscally starve a not-for-profit health-care organization he disdains for political but not for logical or morally justifiable reasons. In doing so, Hill is using the power of the government’s purse to harm the targeted not-forprofit, and by choosing to wound or kill Planned Parenthood, Hill is weaponizing government to tread upon women’s rights.
If Hill is truly pro-life, he would have sought facts (not all that difficult) and would have discovered that several developed nations have reduced abortions, not by making them illegal, but by passing laws that are far more pro-life than anything Hill has considered. Nations that have successfully reduced abortions have done so in great part by adequately funding health-care services provided to women, including safe and effective contraceptives, gynecological care, pre- and post-natal care, and maternity leave laws that far surpass what we provide in the U.S., supposedly the richest nation on earth.
Instead of seeking truly pro-life solutions, Hill chooses, and brags about, picking up the first stone and throwing it at women who turn to the services of Planned Parenthood, which exists to protect the rights and sanctity of women’s lives. BOB REYNOLDS
