A few recommendations ‘at least two generations’

-

What’s happening to our country? What’s the mystery? If you look at the documents crafted by our nation’s Founders the answer is simple. Their decisions were guided by strong moral and ethical values and strong reliance on the teachings of the Bible. If you haven’t read the documents penned by our forefathers, now would be a good time.

What’s going wrong? We’ve lost our moral guidance. The masses are guided by what they can get for free rather than what they can earn. There is no respect for others, even more so, for self. There is no consideration of others, only “me.” If people in general would be considerate of others and respectful of themselves and others, we wouldn’t be having the issues we’re having now.

At least two generations have been raised expecting to get everything they want without working for it. The proverbial “free lunch.” It’s not a matter of wanting or wishing, but expecting it. We see television shows and commercials that a few years ago would have carried an R rating. We’ve become morally bankrupt.

Immigrants used to want to “become an American.” Now they want everyone else to change. My mother immigrated in 1925 on a boat! She spent two weeks on Ellis Island waiting to be allowed into the country with her sister and mother. She never expected a free handout or anyone to change to her culture. She wanted to be an American. Her father arrived ahead of the family. He had to have a sponsor and prove he would be a contributing citizen. She called herself an American. Now all we have is hyphenated “Americans.”

We have masses of illegal aliens (yes, I said it) arriving and expecting benefits of all kinds. Thousands upon thousands of people who don’t respect others, property, themselves or authority. Generations that have been raised in an environment that requires counseling if they break a fingernail. If people had more respect for others and authority we wouldn’t have the violence we’re seeing now.

My advice: Read the Constitution rather than violate it. Gain some respect for yourself and others. Show some consideration to others before expecting to receive it. Mind your own business rather than prying into everyone else’s. Earn respect rather than expecting. Carry your weight. Be a little less “politically” correct and just more correct.

If you don’t like the values this nation was founded on, leave. Find some other country where you can do what you please, when you please, to whom you please. See how that goes. If you consider yourself a “hyphenated” American, go to your hyphenated nation and act there how you act here and see how that goes.

For all the faults everyone says this nation has, I don’t see nearly as many leaving as breaking in. Once we have more people in the wagon than we have pulling it, the wagon will break and the free ride will be over.
