Give us our liberty!

-

We lovers of liberty are tired of all the rules and regulations government imposes on us. For instance, traffic lights, stop signs, speed limits, DWIs, and one-way streets. Why not let the American people decide where, when, and how fast they want to drive?

This increase in individual freedom would also be a great boon to our economy. Think of all the business it would generate for hospitals, funeral homes, auto companies, body shops, insurance salesmen, lawyers, and grief counselors.

Another area of oppressive laws is government inspection of our food. Instead, let the buyer beware. If you don’t want rat droppings or toxic chemicals in your food, then you should set up your own chem lab at home. As for warnings about allergens, who cares? Only wimps have allergies.

Let people have their hobbies. If you want to collect hand grenades or rocket launchers, it’s your right. Same with setting off recreational explosives. So a few windows get rattled down the block, whatever.

Everybody should do their own thing—that’s what democracy is all about.

Taking responsibility for your own life would allow business to surge. With such a booming economy, we could lower taxes on the wealthy even more. I wonder that Paul Ryan hasn’t thought of this. CORALIE KOONCE
