1:30 p.m. on 144th Kentucky Derby

It’s the Run for the Roses again, as the 144th Kentucky Derby takes place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. — and serves as the first jewel of horse racing’s Triple Crown. Sometimes labeled as the “most exciting two minutes in sports,” the race is run by three-yearold Thoroughbreds who sprint 1-1/4 miles. In 2017, jockey John Velazquez rode the colt Always Dreaming to victory, but would finish eighth in the Preakness Stakes two weeks later.

The mission isn’t over for Eric (Luke Roberts) once he recovers the kidnapped son of a weapons dealer in the new episode “Undercover.” The rescue reveals a terrorist plot that could leave hundreds of people dead, setting Eric and his team on that aspect of the situation — and forcing Zara (Nazneen Contractor) to reunite with a former colleague who acted abusively toward her.

The fast-paced 2004 thriller also returns Joan Allen and Julia Stiles to the cast.

7 p.m. on TCM Movie: Hang ’Em High

Encouraged by a judge and armed with a marshal’s badge, he sets out to even the score with his wouldbe executioners. Ed Begley and Pat Hingle also star in the 1968 Western.

8 p.m. on NCIS

A ham radio may be the only avenue for McGee (Sean Murray) to find a petty officer’s killer in “Trapped.” That means of communication, which was used by the victim, ultimately could yield valuable clues in locating a witness. Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) surprises Palmer (Brian Dietzen) with his generosity toward the construction of playgrounds for youngsters.

10:30 p.m. on Saturday Night Live

Sometimes, this show gets a “two-fer” — someone who serves as both host and musical guest — and Donald Glover, the main creative force behind the series Atlanta who’s also the new Lando Calrissian in the upcoming movie Solo: A Star Wars

Story, fits that bill in this new episode. The musical act is Childish Gambino, but don’t be thrown: As Glover’s fans know, that’s his alter ego in that realm. Cast regulars include Kate McKinnon, Kenan Thompson and Cecily Strong.

11 p.m. on Austin City Limits

One of today’s most popular music stars, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran — who’s been given credit for helping similarly ginger-haired men have more success romantically — occupies this hour with tunes including “The A Team,” “Thinking Out Loud,” “Castle on the Hill” and “Shape of You.” Sheeran also has dipped a toe into the acting pool, being particularly noticed for a cameo appearance he made on Game of Thrones, and that likely plays into the stage presence he exudes here.
