AVOCA — Raymond

Buttram, 86, of Avoca, Ark., died May 9, 2018. He was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Rogers to Harry and Louise Buttram.

Ray married Jackie Ruddell in 1951 in Rogers and worked in the automotive business before being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Arkansas and attended the University of Arkansas graduating in 1961. After graduation, he worked for Walker Manufactur­ing of Racine, Wis., for over 30 years. Living in Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and Texas, Ray and Jackie moved back to Avoca upon retirement, him to hunt and fish with old friends and her to work in the garden.

Ray is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Jackie; a daughter, Leslie Rae Beltz of Grand Island, Neb.; a granddaugh­ter, Dana Deyle and her husband Luke of Lincoln, Neb.; two grandchild­ren, Tripp and Sloane Deyle and a brother Dale and his wife Joy of Avoca.

He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Ruddell Buttram and his parents.

A private gathering of immediate family will be held at a later date. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Benton County Memorial Park Rogers, Ark.

BELLA VISTA — Mary Patricia (Pat) Campbell

of Bella Vista passed away on Tuesday May 8, 2018, in Wichita, Kan., at the age of 89. Mary was born in Springfiel­d, Mo., on Sept. 22, 1928, to John and Ruby Avers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Campbell; and her daughter, Nancy Harris.

Mary is survived by her son, Mark Campbell; grandsons, Derek and Blake Miles; granddaugh­ter, Megan Harris; and great-grandsons, Lucas and Logan Miles.

Joyce Burns of Farmington, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 84 years old. She was born Jan. 17, 1934, in Wheeler, Ark., to Shelby and Mabel Fortner.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Floyd Eugene Burns; and her brother Richard Lee Fortner. Joyce loved her family very much. She enjoyed fishing, going to Branson for the music shows and cooking big meals for her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Davis and her husband Leonard of Springdale; three sons, Gene Burns and his wife Nancy of Fayettevil­le, Danny Burns and his wife Ann of Altus, Okla., and David Burns of Farmington; nine grandchild­ren; 14 great-grandchild­ren and one on the way; and many other friends and loved ones.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, at 9 a.m. at Moore’s Chapel Funeral Home, with service at 10 a.m. Private burial will take place later at National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le.

FARMINGTON — Max

Corman Tate, 96, a resident of Farmington, Ark., passed away peacefully Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. He was born July 8, 1921, in Savoy, Ark., the son of Russell Edgar and Eula Frances (Smith) Tate.

He graduated high school from Farmington, Ark. On Oct. 1, 1942, he was drafted into the United States Army, serving in the 401st AAA Gunnery Battalion during World War II. After the Army, he came home to Farmington where he was a longtime member and Elder of the Walnut Grove Presbyteri­an Church. He was a farmer, but also drove a grocery truck and in 1957 he went to work for the Veterans Hospital in Fayettevil­le and retired from there in 1981.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Arlene Nelson Tate; his parents; and one brother, Homer Tate.

He is survived by two daughters, Charolette Mefford and husband Nathan of Springdale and Carmen Garrett and husband Chuck of Bentonvill­e; two grandchild­ren, Sheri Brady and husband Jeff and Kelly Hughes and husband Mike, all of Springdale; two great-grandchild­ren, Dylan Hughes and Kaitlyn Brady of Springdale. He is also survived by one brother, L.D. Tate and wife Dorthea; and one sister, Lucile Cann.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 15, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

FAYETTEVIL­LE —

Jayme Kay Huff, 64, of Fayettevil­le, transcende­d her earthly bonds on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. She was born March 7, 1954. Her life was a journey of learning, teaching, activism, and was always open to adventure. She was born in McCrory, Ark., to James Milton and Betty Huff, who preceded her in death.

Jayme graduated from Arkansas State University in 1975 with a degree in education, and went on to earn her doctorate in education from the University of South Dakota. Her career included positions at the Little Rock School District, University of Texas and the University of South Dakota.

Activism was a part of Jayme’s pursuit of social justice and she was an active advocate for women’s rights, and various social causes. She lived and shared her life for the betterment of those who had no voice.

Her summer breaks from her teaching assignment­s included trips to India, France, and leading an Alaskan wilderness camp for a month.

Jayme grew up in McCrory, Ark., and is survived by her sisters, Mary Pat Cullum of Conway, Kelley Stinnett (Scott) of Siloam Springs; and her brother, Milton Huff (Teresa) of Conway; and her nieces, and nephews, Jason Cullum, Benjamin Stinnett, Elizabeth Stinnett, Corbin Stinnett, Bailey Stinnett, Courtney Meena, Elizabeth Hamilton and Caroline Huff. She is also survived by two grand-nieces and five grand-nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, May 14, 2018, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home, 650 Central Landing Blvd., Conway, Ark. 72032. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

FAYETTEVIL­LE —

William Ray Kennan died quietly in his home on Thursday, April 5, 2018.

He served in World War II as a member of the 872nd Tank Battalion. He was badly injured in France. He was married to his one great love, LaVerne Frances (Clark) Kennan, who died March 3, 2008.

He leaves behind one son, William R. Kennan II and his wife Betty Lorraine Kennan. In addition, there are six grandchild­ren who mourn his passing: Jeffrey Maitland Kennan, Matthew Alexander Kennan, Caleb William Kennan, Kelsey Elizabeth Harmount (husband Joel), Kathryn Ann Charna (husband Todd), and Lawson Clark Kennan. There are two great grandchild­ren: Baylee Dawn Kennan, and a great-granddaugh­ter to be born May 2018, to Kathryn and Todd Charna.

In addition, he is mourned by those who tended to him and loved him: Karren Breeden (very special friend), Rebecca Henson, Michael Barkley, Ashley Marshall, and Caleb Eichenberg­er-Gay. He will be missed by his VA care team, including Dr. Katherine Krantz and Sandy Strong, RN.

William Kennan was a hero of that great generation who knew sacrifice and dedication. He was also one who loved well and long. He will be missed each and every day.

Darren Michael Ray, 54, of Fayettevil­le, Ark., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Friday, May 11, 2018, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayettevil­le. He was born Sept. 26, 1963, in Texarkana, Texas, to Jack and Joan Ray.

Darren Ray was a wellknown musician and a Fayettevil­le legend. He was a singer, song writer and solo artist as well as played lead guitar and bass for several bands. He played in casinos, clubs and restaurant­s and his bands opened for several nationally known bands.

Everyone that ever met him loved him and he never met a stranger. He was grateful for his musical gifts, and enjoyed sharing those gifts with others. He lived life to the fullest.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Darren Ray is survived by the love of his life, Kelli Collins; her mother, Virginia Elmore and Kelli’s children, Hillary, Cody, Isabel, and her granddaugh­ter, the apple of his eye, Poppie Jo. He is also survived by one brother, David Ray and wife, Lisa of Springdale, Ark., and their children, Lauren and Skyler; his sister, Debra Harris and husband, Don Harris of Fayettevil­le, their children Brittany Adcock (Aaron), Melissa Doty (Blake) and Robert Harris; two great-nieces and two great-nephews; and many fellow musicians, fans and dear friends.

Nelson, 87, of Gentry, Ark., passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018, in Siloam Springs, Ark. He was born Nov. 30, 1930, in Seymour, Texas, to Nels and Lela Viola (Bell) Nelson. He was an antique dealer. HEBER SPRINGS — Carl

Brook McSpadden, 77, of Heber Springs died May 9, 2018. He was born Dec. 3, 1940, in Cotter, Ark., to Oran Brook and Bernice Bridges McSpadden.

He grew up in Batesville playing baseball and hunting ducks, graduating high school with the Class of 1958. He attended Arkansas College and Hendrix College and went on to graduate from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1964. He served three years active duty in the U.S. Air Force as legal officer, and it was at Wheelus Air Force Base in Tripoli, Libya, where he met Liesel Ohlendorf. April 15, 1967, was the start of their 43-year marriage.

Carl served as Deputy Prosecutin­g Attorney for Cleburne and Van Buren counties before being elected Chancery Judge for the 18th District of Arkansas. He served three terms in the 18th and 16th districts from 1975 to 1992.

The Methodist Church was central to Carl’s life. His Sunday School class’s Christmas parties for needy kids were a riot, and he enjoyed hamming it up onstage at events honoring the church’s senior members. When not there, he could be found on the golf course with a group known affectiona­tely as the Thundering Herd, or fishing and playing cards with his daughters. In later years, he was Liesel’s tireless caregiver and delighted in taking grandson Luke out to drive the golf cart.

Carl was predecease­d by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Doris Thornton.

He is survived by daughter, Karen McSpadden and grandson, Luke Faupel of Fayettevil­le; daughter, Julie McSpadden and son-in-law Patrick Stair of North Little Rock; and sister, Kay Wilson and brother-in-law Dr. Jack Wilson of Mountain Home.

Carl mused recently that he’d had a good life, there was nothing left on his bucket list, and when his “number was called” he was ready to go. The family thanks everyone at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary for their compassion­ate care in his final hours.

Visitation is 5–7 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs. The funeral is 10 a.m. on Friday, May 18, at First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs.

Enoch White Sr., 81, of Huntsville passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at his home. He was born June 8, 1936, in Madison County to Alvie Otto White and Nancy Moppins-White.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 61 years, Marie White; three brothers, Talbert White, Charles White and Lonnie White; stepbrothe­rs, Arlie White and Cecil White; and two sisters, Ester Blackston and Erma Hall.

Survivors include two sons, Earl White and wife Glenda of West Fork and Berl White Jr of the home; daughter, Betty Guyll and husband Lonnie of Rogers; two sisters, Nettie Harvison of Kingston and Mary Powell of Springdale; brother, Paul White of Huntsville; grandchild­ren, Chasity, Tyrell, Michael, Christina, Billy Ray, Chad and Misty; seven great-grandchild­ren and one great-greatgrand­child.

LINCOLN — Pamela Sue Eichler, age 66, a resident of Lincoln, Ark., went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayettevil­le, Ark. She was born Jan. 19, 1952, in Holly Grove, Ark., the daughter of Harvey and Loyce (Kannada) Roswell.

Pamela was an amazing cook, she loved her family and especially loved watching her granddaugh­ters and great-granddaugh­ters growing up.

She will be reunited with her parents; one son, Lindsey Eichler; and one brother-inlaw, Brad Bloodworth, who had preceded her in death.

ROGERS — Peggy Jo Gobble, 79, of Rogers passed away May 11, 2018. She was born June 4, 1938, in Monte Ne to the late daughter of Arvil and Syble Taylor Clardy. After the passing of her father she was raised by her grandparen­ts Alfred and Laura Clardy.

Peggy formerly worked for Walmart. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1956 and a member of Monte Ne Baptist Church. She is also preceded in death by four siblings, Larry Clardy, Mary Helen Clardy, Doyle Rigsbee and Joann Harris; one great-grandson, Jayden Tyler.

Peggy is survived by the love of her life, James Gobble of the home, they were married Sept. 7, 1957; two children, Carla Hency and Luther Gobble, both of Garfield; three brothers, Roland Clardy of Hiwasse, Eddie Rigsbee of Fayettevil­le and Tommy Rigsbee of Rogers; two grandchild­ren, Stacey and Emily; three great-grandchild­ren. She loved her family and many friends.

SILOAM SPRINGS — Patricia Ann San Migel, 74, of Siloam Springs passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in Bentonvill­e. She was born Nov. 1, 1943, in Bentonvill­e to the late John Elmo Bond and Edna Bell Easley Bond. She was also preceded by a sister, Dorothy Roberts and a brother, Bill Bond.

Pat had a deep love and appreciati­on for both the visual and musical arts, singing country music with her band and playing piano at church in earlier years then, later, telling stories from her youth and reminiscin­g outdoors with friends. Pat was a longtime Christian and was active in several churches through the years.

Survivors include her daughter, Tammie Skaggs of Lowell; sons, Robert Severn (Tammi) of Rogers and Curtis Severn of Gentry; a brother, Johnny Bond; sisters, Betty Peel, Irene Jones, Lois Hutchinson, Donna Garrett and Mary Lee; her grandchild­ren, Yvonne Severn, Jennifer Edwards, Ashley Skaggs and Micayla Severn; four great-grandchild­ren; countless extended family members and dear friends.

SPRINGDALE — Darrel Wayne Lockhart, 82, of Springdale went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 8, 2018. He was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Johnson to Tommie Wayne and Ethel Mozelle Haskins Lockhart. Darrel Wayne was a 1953 graduate of Springdale High School. He retired from Heekin Can Company (Ball Corporatio­n) in 1993 after 38 years. He was a faithful member of the Elmdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and other areas of service.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Ford Lockhart, in 1992; his daughter, Kelly Denise Lockhart; a sister, Margaret Howard; a brother-in-law, Lewis Neal; and four nephews.

Darrel Wayne is survived by his wife, Hannah Hutchins Lockhart; one son, Kenneth Lockhart of Eureka Springs; two stepchildr­en, Steve Hutchins and wife Karrie, Kim Bramall and husband Rick all of Springdale; two sisters, Charlsie Griffith and husband Gene of Tulsa, Lorene Neal of Springdale; and five step-grandchild­ren, Sarah Bramall Matteri and husband Cody, Colton Bramall and wife Bree, Jackson Hutchins, Mason Hutchins and Karson Hutchins, who loved him dearly.

SPRINGDALE — Margaret Rennie Moreno, 95, of Springdale, died Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Walnut Grove Health and Rehabilita­tion Center. She was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Los Angeles, Calif., and was a resident for 42 years of Manhattan Beach, Calif. She moved to Springdale in 2003.

She is survived by a son, Paul Moreno, of Springdale; four grandchild­ren; and several nieces and nephews. No services are planned. Arrangemen­ts are with Heritage Funeral Home.

GRAND BLANC, Mich. — Jessie Lou Rodgers was born Oct. 30, 1930, and died on May 1, 2018.

Jessie was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church and worked as a cook for the Rogers School District.

She is survived by sons, Billy (Suzanne) Rodgers, Joey (Kiz) Rodgers; son-in-law, Kenny Jones; several grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild.

Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter, Sandy Jones; great-grandson, Zachary Davis; mother, Sarah; father, Otis; and sisters, Sue Comstock and Wilma Wagster.

NORMAN, Okla. — Jean Tittle, 90, passed away peacefully on May 4 at Arbor House Assisted Living Center in Norman, Okla.

She was a 25-year resident of Bella Vista, Ark., before moving to Oklahoma in 2012, and spent many years working as a secretary and devoted homemaker.

Jean was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Aaron. Born in Washington, D.C., on May 29, 1927, she was a graduate of South High School in Phoenix, Ariz., and attended the University of Georgia. She served four years in the U.S. Naval Reserve and was a longtime member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a communican­t of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Norman, and a member of Order of Daughters of the King.

Jean is survived by her son, James and daughter-inlaw, Theresa of Norman, Okla.; cousins, David and Ellen Donaldson of Norman, Doug Donaldson of Bella Vista; and many friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; her sister, Margaret; and son, Stephen.

Memorial services will be Saturday, July 14, 2018, 10 a.m. at St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Bella Vista.

Billie Jean graduated from Springdale High School in May of 1950 in Springdale, Ark., and married her sweetheart, Allen Griffith, in Fayettevil­le, Ark., in September of 1950.

She was a Sales Clerk for Drug Emporium. She was formerly a member of Prestonwoo­d Baptist Church when she was a resident in Texas. She dearly loved to worship with Rev. Charles Stanley on television.
