Small theaters can be found in cities throughout Arkansas, offering chances to pursue theater and watch performanc­es. Here are a few community theaters throughout the state.

• Spa City residents of all ages can show off their acting skills at the Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs, which offers programs for kids, teens and adults.

• As Little Rock’s local black-box theater, the Weekend Theater offers little-known production­s, ranging from hilarious to heart-wrenching, as well as classic favorites.

• In addition to producing a wide range of plays and musicals, The Red Curtain Theatre in Conway offers workshops and local auditions.

• Located in the Argenta Arts District of North Little Rock, the Argenta Community Theater hosts a variety of events throughout the year.

• Center on the Square in Searcy offers a wide-reaching season of plays and musicals, as well as dinner theater and a children’s program.

• As the home of the Royal Players theater company, the Royal Theatre in Benton offers a fun lineup of production­s for children and adults.

• The Joint Theater and Coffeehous­e in North Little Rock is the home of the Joint Venture improvisat­ion group and the Main Thing comedy team.

• Originally a movie house, the Ken Theatre in McCrory now serves as a venue where community members can express and enjoy themselves.

• Music fans can check out Ted’s Lil’ Opry on Monday nights at the Bull Shoals Theater of the Arts, which also offers music tributes and variety shows.
