BELLA VISTA — Albert “Al” Curtis McClain, 95, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away peacefully on May 26, 2018, surrounded by family. Al was born on Feb. 21, 1923, to Abby and Audie McClain.

He was raised in Fort Scott, Kan., and later in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served honorably with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, receiving the Bronze Star. After the war he met and fell in love with a nurse, Maxine Evelyn Milroy and they married on Dec. 21, 1947.

Albert attended the University of Iowa, graduating with Phi Beta Kappa honors. He then received a juris doctor degree from Iowa Law School, earning membership into The Order of the Coif Honor Society.

The majority of Al’s career was spent with what is now ExxonMobil. He traveled the world for business and with family and rose to become vice president and general counsel of Esso Exploratio­n.

He lived with Maxine in Houston, Texas, for many years, and they retired in Bella Vista, Ark. He enjoyed friends, golf, bridge, boating, church, singing, gardening, and philanthro­pic activities. Al and Maxine started a scholarshi­p program providing one deserving Iowa Law School student each year with a scholarshi­p, via the Iowa Law Foundation, which will continue.

Albert is survived by his beloved wife of 70+ years, Maxine. He is also survived by a son, Alan (Al) and his wife Anne; and a daughter, Mary (Beth). Al is also survived by his brother William (Bill). He is additional­ly survived by numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and nephews; and great grand-nieces and nephews. And, he is survived by “granddogs” Bella, Parker, and Jordy. He is predecease­d by his parents, Abby and Audie; daughter, Kathryn Ann; sisters, Laura (Hy) and Lucille; and brothers, James (Jim) and Charles (Wes).

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, Ark., 72715. Military honors will take place at the church entrance, just after the 10:30 service, and will be provided by the Army and the Rogers VFW post. Brunch will be served after the honors. HUNTSVILLE — William Lee Love, 62, of Huntsville, passed away at home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., May 31, 2018, in the Bruce Brashears Memorial Chapel with Alex Foster officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Big Sandy Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.

ROGERS — Helen C. Carrington, 94, of Rogers, Ark., gently embraced the arms of Jesus on May 9, 2018, at Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonvill­e, Ark. Her hand was being held by her daughter, granddaugh­ter, and great-granddaugh­ter as she made her heavenly transition. Helen was born Dec. 30, 1923, to Edward and Hazel Clickner in Hutchinson, Kan.

Helen was a graduate of the University of Kansas and obtained her degree in home economics. She went on to teach students both at the college and elementary levels. Helen was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and served on the Rogers Panhelleni­c Committee. Chi Omega Sorority was very dear to her heart. On April 5, 2018, she was recognized on her 75 years of membership in Chi Omega. She was very honored and humbled by this kind gesture.

Helen was known for her words of kindness to anyone she came into contact with. Her smile was contagious. She was gracious, loving and had the gift of hospitalit­y for both family and friends. Her love for others was evident in how she taught her grandchild­ren the important things in life. Helen’s most rewarding fulfillmen­t was being a mom, a grandmothe­r and an “Amo” to her great-grandchild­ren. She always reminded them of her love for them by saying, “I love you, a bushel and a peck!”

She was a member of St. Theodore Episcopal Church in Bella Vista, Arka. One of her greatest joys was serving as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Rogers.

Helen is survived by a daughter, Ann Dubbell and son-in-law Paul Dubbell; and six grandchild­ren, Elizabeth Dubbell Beck, Eric Dubbell (Carrie), Chris Dubbell (Kristin), Beth Welborn (Sammy), Paul Carrington (Amy) and Andrew Carrington (Angie); and 17 great-grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Edward Carrington in 1986 and her beloved husband, Bill, on Feb. 1, 2018. They would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversar­y on May 4, 2018.

The family would like to thank the Innisfree Health and Rehab staff for loving her and treating her like family for the last 4 1/2 years and Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonvill­e for their compassion­ate care during her final days with us.

A celebratio­n of life will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Bible Church of NWA, Training Center Chapel, 1051 W. Pleasant Grove Road in Rogers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in memory of Helen Carrington to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org or JDRF, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, N.Y., 10004. ROGERS — Mary Kathryn Bealmer Hartwig, 82, of Rogers passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018. She was born Oct. 30, 1935, in Webster City, Iowa, to the late Alfred Wayne Bealmer and Mae Louise Hanken Bealmer.

Mary was raised and educated in Woolstock, Iowa, graduating in 1953. Mary and Gary R. Hartwig were united in marriage on Sept. 18, 1966, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Woolstock and lived in the Story City and Stanhope, Iowa, areas.

In 1985 the family moved to Bentonvill­e where they owned the Avoca One Stop convenienc­e store. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Amy Louise Hartwig, and her ex-husband. Mary was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Debi Hartwig of Bentonvill­e; her grandchild­ren, Lauren and Miles Hartwig; numerous extended family members and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. June 9, 2018, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Rogers with a reception to follow. Memorials are suggested to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 219, Rogers, Ark., 72757.

ROGERS — Gary Layne Pollard, 49, of Rogers passed away May 25, 2018. He was born June 20, 1968 in Wichita, Kansas, son of Paul and Patricia Pollard. Survivors his wife Rebecca Pollard, children Adam Pollard, Sara Pollard, and six grandchild­ren. Memorial Services 1-3 p.m. June 6, 2018 at the Residence Inn, Rogers, Arkansas. SPRINGDALE — Wanda Lee Guthrie, 83, of Springdale, passed away May 29, 2018, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born May 26, 1935, to William and Lovie Phillips Sisco in Kingston, Ark.

Wanda worked for Ozark Transit. She loved to dance, being a granny, and loved her church. She liked to read, working in her garden, and loved animals.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Jerry Max Reynolds, and sister, Virgie Williams. Survivors include two sons; Wayne Reynolds (Teresa) of Sulphur Springs; Raymond Lenny Reynolds (GoGi) of Springdale; seven grandchild­ren; nine great-grandchild­ren; two brothers, Kelly Sisco of Elkins; Larry Sisco of Prairie Grove; and sister Virginia Russell of

Hindsville.

Visitation will be Friday at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale on Friday, June 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at Revival Tabernacle in Springdale on Saturday, June 2, starting at 10 a.m. with Pastor Dale Johnston officiatin­g. WEST FORK — In memory of Ricci D. Scott, born Jan. 1, 1973, in Van Buren, Ark., passed away on May 14, 2018. He is survived by his immediate family, Susan, Laura, Bailey and Ricci; not to mention his friends and all loved ones.

He served in the Army in special operations where he was wounded in Afghanista­n in 2005. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. ST. PAUL, Kan. — Mildred Kavanagh, 77, of St. Paul, Kan., passed away at 3: 30 a. m., Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village of St. Paul, Kan. She was born May 15, 1941, in Eureka Springs, Ark., a daughter of James Madison and Effie (Baker) Moon.

On Feb. 13, 1972, Mildred was united in marriage to Merle Kavanagh in Corpus Christi, Texas; he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2017. Mildred was a homemaker, she loved to cook, bake and sew for her family.

She would search garage sales for items that others had told her they were looking for; it may be three years later but she would find it and buy it for them.

Survivors include; two sons; Bill Kavanagh and his wife Jane of Girard, Thomas Kavanagh and his wife Ann of Busch, Ark., three daughters; Janice Norris and her husband Stacy of Walnut, Kan., Christi Bayer and her husband Lester, Tammy Blackburn and her

husband Mark both of St. Paul, Kan., three bonus children; Mike Kavanagh and his wife Pam of Pierce City, Mo., Mary Franklin and her husband Bill of Girard, Kan., Marcia Seims and her husband Dave of Navare, Fla., one brother; Wayne Moon, four sisters; Wanda Williams, Bonnie Shepherd, Erma Helms, Joyce Catron, 22 grandchild­ren, 41 great-grandchild­ren and two great-great-grandchild­ren. In addition to her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, one brother; Paul Moon, three sisters; Edith Pollick, Carolyn Mahurin and Becky Skidmore.

Services for Mildred Kavanagh will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2018, at the SmithCarso­n-Wall Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiatin­g. TECUMSEH, Okla. — Elizabeth Hammonds, 85, of Tecumseh, Okla., passed away Monday, May 14, 2018. She was born Feb. 2, 1933, to Gene and Beatrice Redd in Bentonvill­e, Ark.

Elizabeth was raised in Bentonvill­e. She lived in many places before settling in Shawnee where she has lived for the past 20 years. Elizabeth earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing and worked as a home-health care nurse for many years.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, Frank Chamberlai­n III, Roy Lane and Ed Hammonds, mother, Beatrice Redd, step-father, Gene Redd, daughter, Linda Nichols and step- son, Jesse Lane. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Cowan of Springdale, Ark., and Beatrice Baker of Shawnee, Okla., one son, Frank Chamberlai­n IV of San Francisco, Calif., eight grandchild­ren, 11 great-grandchild­ren, four great- great- grandchild­ren, one sister, Sherry Pianalto of Springdale and other extended family and friends.

Cremation arrangemen­t by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. Graveside Services at Bentonvill­e Cemetery in Bentonvill­e, Ark., on June 3, 2018, at 2 p.m. Putting her with her daughter. Speaker is going to be Duster Steemblock.
