Peters hits two homers as Drillers defeat Naturals

TULSA, Okla. — DJ Peters hit a pair of homers, leading the Tulsa Drillers to a 9-3 win over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Friday.

Will Smith and Luke Raley also homered for the Drillers.

The home runs by Peters, both solo shots, came in the fourth off Foster Griffin and in the fifth off Yunior Marte.

Tulsa right-hander Mitchell White (1-3) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing three runs on four hits over six innings. Opposing starter Griffin (3-8) took the loss in the Texas League game after a rough outing in which he allowed seven runs and 10 hits over 4 1 /3 innings.

SPRINGFIEL­D 3, ARKANSAS 2

SPRINGFIEL­D, Mo. — Luke Dykstra hit a run-scoring single in the seventh inning to give the Springfiel­d Cardinals a win over the Arkansas Travelers.

Granden Goetzman scored on the play after he reached base with a double.

Earlier in the inning, Stefan Trosclair hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Andrew Knizner to tie the game 2-2.

Arkansas had a runner on second in the top of the ninth, but Joseph Odom struck out to end the game.

In the bottom of the second, Springfiel­d took the lead on a single by Goetzman that scored Evan Mendoza. Arkansas answered in the fourth inning when Joey Curletta hit a two-run double.

Jacob Evans (1-5) got the win with three innings of scoreless relief while David McKay (2-1) took the loss in the Texas League game.

Curletta doubled and singled, driving in two runs for the Travelers.

SAN ANTONIO 3, MIDLAND 0

SAN ANTONIO — Fernando Tatis homered and had three hits, and Jerry Keel allowed just three hits over

71/3 innings as the San Antonio Missions beat the Midland RockHounds 3-0 on Friday.

Keel (6-2) struck out five and walked three to get the win.

San Antonio scored its runs when Tatis hit a solo home run in the third inning before scoring on a two-run single by Josh Naylor in the fifth.

Parker Dunshee (0-1) went six innings, allowing three runs and seven hits while striking out nine in the Texas League game. Brad Wieck retired the side in order for his 10th save of the season.

The RockHounds were held scoreless for the fifth time this season, while the Missions’ staff recorded their eighth shutout of the year.

With the win, San Antonio improved to 13-5 against Midland this season.

CORPUS CHRISTI 4, FRISCO 0

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Eduardo de Oleo hit a tworun homer in the fifth inning, leading the Corpus Christi Hooks to a 4-0 win over the Frisco RoughRider­s on Friday.

The home run by de Oleo scored Ryne Birk to break a scoreless tie.

The Hooks later tacked on a run in both the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Chas McCormick hit an RBI double, while Randy Cesar scored on an error in the eighth.

Kevin Hill (2-1) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Frisco starter Edgar Arredondo (0-1) took the loss in the Texas League game.

The RoughRider­s were blanked for the third time this season, while the Hooks’ staff recorded their fifth shutout of the year.

Corpus Christi improved to 13-5 against Frisco this season.
