Personal space

- — Sean Clancy

Where I live: Heights neighborhood in Little Rock with my wife, Lori, and my daughters, Katherine and Rachel.

Occupation: Project engineering manager, UPS. I’m also a cyclist and am on the board of directors at Recycle Bikes for Kids in North Little Rock. We give away about 2,000 bikes a year to children without a bicycle and also to homeless people who need a bike for transportation to get to a job. We work closely with the Our House Shelter for this purpose. On May 12, with the help of UPS providing in-kind transportation, we sent 100 bikes to Helena-West Helena that were given away to children there.

My favorites space is: My covered deck in the backyard of my home. We built it and covered it when I built the house in 2007. I was my own general contractor. We do love to entertain and hang out there. Sometimes we set up an outdoor projector and watch a movie. We also listen to music on our outdoor speakers. My wife teaches at Little Rock Central High School and loves to sit out there and grade papers.

Why? Peace and comfort. And my grill is out there!

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Stop the squirrels from stealing my tomatoes. I never knew squirrels liked tomatoes so much! I’d also stop the robins from building a nest over my music speakers. Every year they try to build without getting an approved permit!
