NWA Fishing Report

BEAVER LAKE Striped bass are biting on the north end of the lake.

James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said anglers report catching stripers from Point 6 to the dam. Medium-sized bass minnows are working better for stripers than larger brood minnows. Live shad may also work.

Locate schools of shad with a depth finder in open water and stripers should be near the school.

Walleye are biting nightcrawler rigs trolled on a bottom bouncer 25 feet deep. Jug lines are the best way to catch catfish. Use sunfish for bait to catch flathead catfish. Go with nightcrawlers, liver or stink bait for channel catfish.

Black bass are hitting top-water lures from first light to sunrise. Use jig and pigs, plastic worms or deep-diving crank baits after sunrise.

Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina said crappie and walleye are biting well on the south end of the lake. Trolling crank baits that run 10 to 15 feet deep work best. A Bandit 300 series crank bait is a favorite among anglers, he said.

Crappie may also be caught with minnows or jigs 15 to 25 feet around brush.

BEAVER TAILWATER Lisa Mullins at Beaver Dam Store said trout are biting well on a Power Bait and waxworm combination.

The top lures are small goldred or gold-silver spoons and size 4 Flicker Shads. The top flies are pheasant tails, Copper Johns, San Juan worms and midges in blue dunn, black or olive.

Power generation typically takes place all day with one generator running.

LAKE FAYETTEVILLE Angela Perea at the lake office said bluegill are biting crickets or worms. Use glow worms or liver for catfish. Try for black bass early with top-water lures or plastic worms later in the day.

LAKE SEQUOYAH

Mike McBride at the lake bait shop said a few bass have been caught early with top-water lures. Try liver or shad for catfish. Use worms four feet deep for bluegill.

BELLA VISTA

Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista reports black bass are surfacing at sunrise at Loch Lomond. They can be caught with top-water lures.

Fish deep for bass later in the day at Loch Lomond with plastic worms or deep-diving crank baits.

Bluegill are biting at all Bella Vista lakes on worms or crickets five to 10 feet deep.

SWEPCO LAKE Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass fishing is best at night with large plastic worms. Fish two to 20 feet deep. ILLINOIS RIVER

Stroud said black bass fishing is good with tube baits, small jig and pigs or Rooster Tails.

EASTERN OKLAHOMA Stroud said fishing at night is best at Lake Eucha or any eastern Oklahoma lake. Try large plastic worms, jig and pigs or spinner baits. Dark colors work best.

TABLE ROCK LAKE

The Missouri Department of Conservation reports good bluegill fishing with worms or Beetle Spins.

Black bass fishing is fair 20 to 25 feet with deep-diving crank baits or jig and pigs. Fish along gravel banks. Crappie are biting fair on minnows or jigs.
