■ Cathy Roy, a police dispatcher in Lisbon, Maine, said she stayed on the phone line and found the right emergency help for two tourists, who were trapped in an elevator in Lisbon, Portugal, and dialed the first number they found online, which was the Maine number.

■ Angaline Ryan, 61, of West Plains, Mo., was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of an ambush-style attack in 2015 that wounded her now-former daughter-inlaw, who was in the midst of a bitter divorce with Ryan’s son at the time.

■ Stephen Searle, 64, an ex-British soldier and politician, was convicted of murdering his wife at their home in Stowmarket, England, after she found out he had an affair with their son’s domestic partner, who is the mother of one of their grandchild­ren.

■ The Rev. Jonathan Wehrle, a priest who lived at a property worth more than $1 million in Williamsto­n, Mich., faces six counts of embezzling $100,000 from a Catholic church in Okemos after investigat­ors found $63,000 in bundles hidden above the ceiling tiles in the home.

■ Lori Yearick, 45, of Mount Joy, Pa., who evaded hundreds of tolls on the Pennsylvan­ia Turnpike over a five-year period, racking up more than $92,000 in unpaid tolls and fees, has pleaded guilty to theft of services and was sentenced to two years of probation and 200 hours of community service.

■ Tommy Lee Beverly Jr., 27, is being sought on an armed robbery charge in Shreveport after police say he used a stolen cellphone to snap a selfie that automatica­lly uploaded to the victim’s online photo storage site and was turned over to investigat­ors, leading to Beverly being identified as a suspect.

■ Ryan Broers, the pastor of a Baptist church in Cave City, Ky., is being criticized after notifying about 70 people by letter that he was kicking them out of his congregati­on for failing to attend church regularly and tithe.
