BELLA VISTA — Richard D. Kattell, 88, of Bella Vista, Ark., died July 22, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e, Ark. He was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Sherman C. and Gladys Dennis Kattell.

Richard served in the U.S. Army after graduation from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

He retired to Bella Vista in 1989 as a mortgage banker Senior Vice President. He was a past president of the Ohio Mortgage Bankers Associatio­n. Richard served on the nominating and election committees of the Bella Vista POA and the Townhouse Board. He volunteere­d for 16 years at the Bella Vista Police Department as a lobby volunteer.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ellen Kattell Bauerle.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 34 years, Barbara Kattell; children, Amy Kattell, John Kattell, Steve Kattell, Chris Waris, Trish Kattell; grandchild­ren, Greg Kattell, Tara Kattell, Josh Kattell, Connie Kattell, Sam Waris, Jake Waris; and nephew, David Bauerle.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Bella Vista Community Church with Dr. Anna Teel officiatin­g.

BELLA VISTA — Marion Bernice Martin, 89, of Bella Vista, Ark., died peacefully July 22, 2018, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayettevil­le. She was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Melrose Park, Ill., to Harold and Emilie (Trenkler) Greinke.

Marion attended Walther Luther High School in Melrose Park and graduated from Proviso East in Maywood, Ill., in 1947. She met Paul Pennell Martin in 1945 and they married on June 25, 1949. Together they resided in Kansas City, Mo., Springfiel­d, Mo., Decatur, Ill., and Olathe, Kan., before retiring to Bella Vista in 1994. She worked as a secretary for Hearst Publicatio­n in Chicago and later in Decatur, Ill., public schools.

Marion loved music and began voice and piano lessons at a young age, singing in choirs and playing piano her entire life. She blessed others with her musical gifts. She was a longtime member of Bella Vista Lutheran Church giving of her time where needed. Marion was a joy and blessing to everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by two sisters; two brothers; her husband of 68 years, Paul Martin; and her son-in-law.

Marion is survived by her children, Crystal F. Martin, Bella Vista, Gregory P. Martin (Chris), Houston, Texas, Heather Robertson, New Windsor, Md.; five grandchild­ren, Emily Martin, Houston, Texas, Katelynn Martin, Dallas, Texas, Christophe­r Barry (Megan), Westminste­r, Md., Alyssa Garcia (Ozzie), Fayettevil­le, N.C., Casey Barry, Juneau, Alaska; and one great-granddaugh­ter, Piper.

BENTONVILL­E — Don Halfred Elliott, 79, of Bentonvill­e, our sweet daddy, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, July 22, 2018, surrounded by his family at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e. He was born in a rural oil field town of Porter, Mich., on Feb. 28, 1939, the only son of the late Halfred Wilson and Lillian Estelle Benson Elliott.

Don was a Plant Engineer for CTS Corporatio­n in Bentonvill­e, a member of Bentonvill­e Community Church of the Nazarene, the Bentonvill­e Masonic Lodge, and a graduate from Bentonvill­e High School class of 1957. He served in the United States Army and the National Guard.

He is survived by the love of his life of almost 55 years, his wife Glenda Wooldridge Elliott of the home; three children, Patrick Elliott and wife Lisa of Bella Vista, Kristi Morey and husband Jim of Bella Vista, Kendra Rogers and husband Kyle of Bentonvill­e; one sister, Janie Pattyson and husband Pat of Rogers; grandchild­ren, Jennifer Jewett and husband Nick, Matthew Elliott, James Morey, Samuel Morey, Kyle Rogers, Jr. and Karson Rogers; one great- granddaugh­ter Jenna Kate Jewett.

Violet Angeline Bogan, age 82, of Farmington passed away Sunday July 22, 2018. She was born May 21, 1936, in Kola Kauai, Hawaii, to Otto and Angeline Mueller Koerte.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Bogan.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fayettevil­le.

She is survived by a daughter, Leilani Hedrick and her husband David of Fayettevil­le; a son, Robert Bogan and his wife Cindy of Farmington; four grandchild­ren and six great-grandchild­ren.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — LTC ( Ret.) James “Jim” L. Buckner, died in Fayettevil­le, Ark., on July 22, 2018, at the age of 81.

James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Ridgeway Buckner; son, James L. Buckner, Jr. and wife Freda of Sand Springs, Okla., and son Matthew D. Buckner and wife Amy of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; seven grandchild­ren, two great-grandsons; brothers, Luther Buckner and Wordy Buckner and his sister Dottie Clark.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Buckner Thomas; grandson, Micah Thomas; and sister, Martha Arrington.

Jim was born on May 29, 1937, in Many, La., to John and Dorothy Buckner. He graduated from Crossett High School in 1955, Ouachita Baptist in 1959 and later during his military career earned a master’s degree at LSU.

He married his Ouachita cheerleadi­ng partner, Linda, in 1957 and after graduation was commission­ed a 2nd Lieutenant Infantry Officer and began his 24-year military career. After serving several stateside and overseas assignment­s, he went to Vietnam 1966-67 with the 1st Cavalry Division, he returned to Vietnam in 1969 where he served with the U.S. Army 5th Special Forces Group. He again returned to Southeast Asia in 1973-74 as Deputy Commander Special Forces Thailand. Upon returning home, he served in Intelligen­ce at Fort Meade Md., with his final assignment as Professor of Military Science at the University of Arkansas from 1978 until his retirement from the Army in 1982.

During his active service, Jim received numerous awards and decoration­s including the Bronze Star with “V” with five Oak Clusters, the Purple Heart, Meritoriou­s Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters and several other decoration­s. He proudly wore his Combat Infantryma­n’s badge, Airborne Wings, Ranger and Special Forces Tabs.

Jim’s civilian life included positions at the AIDC, TCBY, University of Arkansas, Abilities Unlimited and Shake’s Frozen Custard. He was active in Fayettevil­le Downtown Rotary for many years, serving as President and receiving the Paul Harris Fellow. He volunteere­d at the Fayettevil­le VA and was Commander of the Military Order of Purple Heart Chapter 460. Jim and Linda were fundraiser­s for the ALS associatio­n and Casa Aleluya in Guatemala.

Jim loved his church and music. He attended Cross Church, Springdale, taught Sunday school, sang in a quartet and enjoyed leading choir at Butterfiel­d Trail Village.

A funeral is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Friday July 27, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home with visitation at 11:30 a.m. Burial at Fayettevil­le National Cemetery with full military honors following service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim’s life.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Lori Ann Osborne, age 57, a resident of Fayettevil­le, Ark., passed from this life on July 21 , 2018, in Fayettevil­le. She wa s born April 22, 1961, in Beebe, Ark., to James and Mary ( Hale) Watson.

She is preceded in death by her father.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Cora Lee Shoemaker, 77, of Fayettevil­le, Ark., passed away July 19, 2018. She was born Sept. 23, 1940, in Fayettevil­le, Arkansas to Claude and Thelma (Boyd) Comer.

Cora was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r who touched countless hearts with her warmth and love; she will be very deeply missed. She loved her heavenly father, Jehovah, and was a faithful servant her entire life. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she taught her children, grandchild­ren, and many others about life and spiritual things, and relished the bible’s promise of a future resurrecti­on and a paradise earth when pain and death will be no more (Revelation 21:3, 4, Psalms 37:10-11, 29, Acts 24:15, Isaiah 26:19). Her family eagerly looks forward to seeing her again soon when she will be young and healthy again.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George and Roscoe; and one sister, Wanda.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Shoemaker of the home, whom she married on June 29, 1957; five children: Rebecca Sanford, Janie Parker, Mark Shoemaker, Kelly Davis and Kimberly Shoemaker; 16 grandchild­ren and 10 great-grandchild­ren; and many friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

LINCOLN — Kristopher Allan Phillips, age 31, a resident of Lincoln, Ark., passed away Monday, July 23, 2018. He was born Aug. 13, 1986, in Fayettevil­le, Ark., the son of Jeff and Lisa Phillips.

Kristopher graduated with honors from Lincoln High School in 2004 and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Northeaste­rn State University. He went on to receive his A-Plus certificat­ion and many other specialty certificat­ions.

Kris was a loving father, husband, son, brother, grandson, uncle and friend. He enjoyed jeeping, spending time on the lake, snowboardi­ng, hot rodding his ‘69 Chevy truck and going on any good adventure. Kris had a gift for all things technologi­cal and mechanical. He was often seen working on his jeep alongside his dad and son.

He was preceded in death by grandparen­ts, Ragil and Joann Phillips; great-grandparen­ts, Raymond and Shirley Collins and Austin Schader and beloved mother-in-law, Janet Reed.

LOWELL — Rita Mae Eagle, 65, of Lowell, Ark., went to be with the Lord July 23, 2018. She was born July 21, 1953, in Springdale, Ark., the daughter of Junior and Gladys Easter Main.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Springdale. Rita had retired from Easco Hand Tools in Springdale and enjoyed scrapbooki­ng and shopping.

ROGERS — Edith Elvira Mollenkopf Dufford, 83, of Rogers passed away July 21, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e. She was born Sept. 11, 1934, in Shreveport, La., the daughter of Chalmer and Orpha Simons Mollenkopf.

Edith was a former school secretary. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers and formerly a member of Emanuel Lutheran in Stuttgart, Ark.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ernest Dufford.

She is survived by her son, Paul (Debbie) Dufford of Rogers, and daughter, Pam ( Mike) Sypult of Rogers; her sister, Margaret Daude of Killeen, Texas; grandchild­ren, Christophe­r Dufford, Stephanie Grigson (Quincy), David Sypult, Daniel Sypult (Maekayla) Rebekah Albertson (Ryan), Nathan Sypult and great-grandson, Peyton Sypult.

ROGERS — Willie Joyce Petree, 87, of Rogers passed away peacefully July 23, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e with her fa m i ly by her side. She was born Sept. 22, 1930 in Claude, Texas, the daughter of Roy and Edith Hukill.

She was a seamstress for many years doing alteration­s for Campbell-Bell department store as well as working out of her home. She was a former church secretary as well as a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son Richard Petree (Susan) of Rogers; daughter-in-law Linda Petree of Goodman, Mo., grandchild­ren, Doddie Bond (Jody), Misty Sutherland, Shannon Tweedy (Dustin), Tony Petree (Rachel); and 10 great- grandchild­ren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ormal Petree; son, Douglas Petree; one brother; three sisters; and her two dachshunds, Callie and Candy.

SPRING DALE— Walter Kalman Paph, age 89, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayettevil­le, Ark. He was born on Aug. 19, 1928, in Woods County, Okla., to Kalman and Florence (Shed) Paph.

He is preceded in death by his three brothers, Henry Paph, Raymond Paph and E. Eugene Paph; and three sisters, Alma Massey, Stella Lorence and Nadene Means.

Walter served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Cimmarron from the end of WWII until November of 1947. He then went to work at Tractor Supply Co. in Wichita, Kan., followed by a 21-year career at Garnette Auto Supply, also located in Wichita. The last four of those years were spent as President of Garnette Auto Supply / Jobbers Automotive. Walter owned a cattle ranch in Vilonia, Ark., for 10 years. He spent five years living in Pensacola, Fla., and moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1986.

Walt loved his family, traveling, reading, square dancing, playing cards, fishing, woodworkin­g, gardening and working on his family’s genealogy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Bonnie Paph of the home; his two children, Susan Wagner and husband Gil of Shawnee, Kan., and Roger Paph and wife Anna Rose of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; one brother, Jim Paph of Alva, Okla.; two sisters, Mary Ann Collie of Wichita, Kan., and Louise Willis of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchild­ren, Mary Jonscher and husband Charles of Shawnee, Kan., Matthew Wagner of Denver, Colo., Gwen Fayette of Fayettevil­le, Ark., and Katherine Paph-Rose of Omaha, Neb.; and two great- grandchild­ren, Madeline G. SPRING DALE— Beverly Joy Walker, 81, of Springdale, Ark., went to be with the Lord July 13, 2018. She was born Dec. 20, 1936, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of the late Lyle C. and Sadie (Schnell) Wilson.

She attended St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Springdale and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Tontitown. Bev was a beloved member of the Northwest Arkansas community since 1974 and worked in food service until finding her calling transporti­ng patients for the Northwest Arkansas Radiation Institute (NARTI) for 22 years. Her patients were her friends, and there was nothing that she wouldn’t do to make their lives easier, whether it was stopping to get a few groceries or just ice cream. She never met a stranger and loved to tell a good story and visit. She loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchild­ren and great- grandchild­ren. She loved to travel and spend time with her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale Walker; sister, Carol Wilson; brother-in-law, Ted Beecroft; and grandson, Dustin Whittle.

She is survived by three daughters, Julie McLoud ( Jeff ) of Huntsville, Ark., Kimberli Wyckoff ( Mark) of West Fork, Ark., Marsha Eklund ( Ken) of Helena, Mont.; two sisters, Nancy Nollen ( Stan) of Washington, D. C., and Donna Beecroft of Fridley, Minn.; and one brother, Dean Wilson (Linda) of Washington, Iowa; and seven grandchild­ren, Rob Whittle, Stephen Whittle (Sarah), Scott Whittle ( Shirley), Damien Eklund, Heath Eklund ( Kayla), Megan Eklund, Patrick Wyckoff and nine great-grandchild­ren.

WEST FORK — Fred Edward Townsend, 81 of West Fork, Ark., formerly of Stuttgart, Ark., passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018, in Springdale, Ark. He was born Feb. 14, 1937, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to Bas Edward Townsend and Bonnie (Council) Townsend.

He was formerly a district manager for Farmer’s Insurance Group prior to opening his own insurance and real estate office, Townsend Real Estate. He was a former member and elder at First Presbyteri­an Church in Stuttgart, Ark.

He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Mary Ann Townsend; three children, Dr. Michael Townsend of Port Orange, Fla., Tracie Snider of Lexington, Tenn., and Ginger Long of West Fork, Ark. He is also survived by nine grandchild­ren, Tabitha, Jacob, Mitchell, Haley and Whitney Townsend, Lauren and Sydney Snider, and Camryn and Joshua Long.
