Councilman seeks re-election
SPRINGDALE — Rick Culver is seeking re-election to the City Council.
Culver, 62, is completing his first four-year term on the council, representing the southwest quadrant of the city in Ward 3. He serves as the chairman of the city’s Police and Fire Committee and on the Advertising and Promotion Commission.
“I love living in Springdale and being a part of it,” said Culver, who has lived in Springdale for 58 years. “I am proud of where we are right now as a city and where we are headed. I am excited about seeing projects through and finishing what we started.”
Culver said he works hardest trying to explain the council’s actions to residents.
“There’s always two sides to the story,” he said. “You hear from people who are for it or against it, but, as a council member, you’ve got to see the bigger picture.”
Passing the $ 200 million bond issue in February was important for the city to keep ahead of the growth, Culver said. He said the council needs to address infrastructure and housing options for newcomers to the city.
“And I want to see our strong business climate continue to grow and prosper,” Culver said. “There is a real sense of unity and positive momentum happening all over our great city, including the rebuilding of our downtown,” Culver continued.
Culver serves as the executive director of the Rodeo of the Ozarks.
City Council members earn $10,200 per year. The nonpartisan election will be held Nov. 6.
