Spirit of truth exists
Jesus equated the spirit of God to the spirit of truth and said that the spirit of truth will teach us all things. Most of the “facts” we know come from scientists. Science has not proven that God exists. They say, “Show me the data.”
I studied physics at Columbia University. On Friday afternoons we did experiments in Pupin Hall. I spent most of my weekends writing lab reports. I respect what scientists do, and I understand what “data” means. The spirit of truth exists in the scientific community.
What do scientists do? First, they ask questions. It is almost like praying. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and sup with him, and he with me.” He said seek and you will find, ask and you will receive. From this scientists form a hypothesis and devise an experiment to confirm or deny the hypothesis. Then they publish their findings. Other scientists are eager to confirm or deny the conclusions. If 97 percent of scientists agree, that is a “fact.”
Scientists are probably the most religious people on earth when it comes to the pursuit of truth. They dedicate their lives to the pursuit of truth. Heretics are not welcome, but as soon as the heretic proves his theory with the “data,” they will celebrate him or her as a hero. Example: Albert Einstein.
Einstein did thought experiments. His mathematics showed that space and time are distorted in the presence of matter. He published his general theory of relativity in 1915 showing that gravity is not a force but the curvature of space-time in the presence of mass. He begged astronomers to prove the theory. The scientific community proved it in 1919 with pictures of the sun in total eclipse and mass-less starlight curved around the sun. RUUD DuVALL
