Man arrested in connection with stabbing woman, kidnapping infant

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Authoritie­s arrested the man accused of stabbing a woman and kidnapping an infant, according to a U.S. Marshals Service news release.

Danny Trent Barrows, 38, was supposed to turn himself in to the Marshals Service and Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies Wednesday morning near West Fork, but fled, according the news release.

While officers were searching for Barrows near Mountainbu­rg, a 911 call came in reporting someone was trying to jump from the Interstate 49 bridge at mile marker 33 south of Chester, according to the news release.

Crawford County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Arkansas State Police troopers arrived first and saw Barrows hanging over the side of the bridge, according the news release. Authoritie­s stopped him from jumping and arrested him about 11:30 a.m. in connection with domestic battering, according to the news release.

Barrows is accused of stabbing his daughter’s mother in her leg and “severely battered her with his fists” before threatenin­g to kill the mother and the girl Monday in the Winslow area, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. He fled with the 2-month-old baby, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The baby was found safe Tuesday after being dropped off at her grandmothe­r’s home in Elkins, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
