Naturals fall 5-2 to RockHounds

MIDLAND, Texas — Luis Barrera singled three times, scoring a run and also driving one home as the Midland RockHounds defeated the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 5-2 on Thursday.

Skye Bolt singled three times for Midland.

Kyle Finnegan struck Kelvin Gutierrez out with runners on first and third to end the game for his ninth save of the season.

Up 1-0 in the fifth,

Midland extended its lead when Bolt hit a two-run single.

After Midland added two runs in the sixth, the Naturals cut into the deficit in the ninth inning when Nick

Fernandez scored on an error.

Nolan Blackwood

(6-3) got the win with two innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while NW Arkansas starter Jon Perrin

(0-1) took the loss in the Texas League game.

Donnie Walton had three hits and scored two runs, and

Anthony Misiewicz allowed just two runs over six innings as the Arkansas

Travelers beat the Frisco

RoughRider­s 7-5 on Thursday. The Travelers swept the three-game series with the win.

Matt Festa got Juremi Profar to fly out with runners on first and third to end the game for his 18th save of the season.

Misiewicz allowed six hits while striking out eight.

Frisco started the scoring in the second inning when

Luis Mendez hit an RBI single and Chuck Moorman hit a sacrifice fly.

After tying the game in the sixth, the Travelers took the lead for good with five runs in the eighth inning. The

Travelers sent 10 men to the plate as Kyle Lewis drove in three runs and Ryan Scott drove in two en route to the five-run lead.

The RoughRider­s saw their comeback attempt come up short after Michael O’Neill hit a solo home run and Michael De Leon hit a two-run single in the ninth to cut the Arkansas lead to 7-5.

David McKay (5-1) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief while Adam Parks (1-3) took the loss in the Texas League game.
