Bulky waste cleanups scheduled for this fall

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Residents will have a few opportunit­ies this fall to discard their big, bulky trash items that won’t fit in a regular trash can.

Each ward of the city will have a designated time and place in which to get rid of bulky waste. Bulk items also can be dropped off at the city’s recycling and trash facility at 1560 S. Happy Hollow Road.

Dates and locations are as follows:

■ Ward 1: Sept. 15, Shaver Foods, 1367 S. Beechwood Ave.

■ Ward 2: Sept. 22, Woodland Junior High School, 1 E. Poplar St.

■ Ward 3: Oct. 27, Vandergrif­f Elementary School, 2200 N. Vandergrif­f Drive

■ Ward 4: Nov. 3, Owl Creek School, 375 N. Rupple Road

All cleanup times are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Paper shredding will be offered at the Happy Hollow facility 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 27.

The service is offered only to Fayettevil­le residents with proof of residency.

Acceptable items include artificial Christmas trees, chairs and couches, entertainm­ent centers, hot tub covers, landscape timbers (10 only), mattresses and box springs, sinks and tubs (excluding cast iron), lawn furniture, doors (no glass), swing sets (wooden only), building materials (limited), carpet (up to three 6x6 rolls), major appliances, lawnmowers, weed eaters, and tillers, mailboxes and poles (all concrete must be removed), old metal trashcans (must be empty), bulk brush and tree limbs.

Electronic waste will be accepted at the Happy Hollow facility only during the bulky waste cleanup times.
