Perrin, Fernandez lift Naturals over Travelers

SPRINGDALE — Xavier Fernandez had four hits and scored three runs, and Jon Perrin threw 52/3 scoreless innings as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals topped the Arkansas Travelers 8-1 on Saturday.
Perrin (1-2) picked up the win after he struck out seven and walked one while allowing three hits.
NW Arkansas went up 3-0 in the third after Samir Duenez hit a two-run single.
The Naturals later added three runs in the fourth and two in the sixth to punctuate the blowout.
Anthony Misiewicz (312) went five innings, allow- ing eight runs and nine hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out two and walked two.
With the win, NW Arkansas improved to 19-7 against Arkansas this season.
TULSA 5, SPRINGFIELD 3
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — DJ Peters homered and had two hits, and Dustin May allowed just two hits over 6 2/3 innings as the Tulsa Drillers beat the Springfield Cardinals 5-3 on Saturday.
May (2-2) allowed two runs while striking out five and walking three to pick up the win.
Tulsa started the scoring in the second when it scored three runs, including a single by May that scored Zach McKinstry.
After Tulsa added two runs, the Cardinals cut into the deficit in the seventh inning when Jose Martinez hit a two-run single.
The Cardinals saw their comeback attempt come up
short after Evan Mendoza scored on a forceout in the eighth inning to cut the Tulsa lead to 5-3.
Matt Pearce (0-7) went 6 2/3 innings, allowing five runs and 10 hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out eight and walked one.
