The Arkansas Travelers thwarted a bid for a home sweep by the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at Arvest Ballpark on Monday, closing the regular season with an 8-3 victory as Ashton Goudeau gave up just a run over six innings.

SPRINGDALE — Beau Amaral, Chuck Taylor and Chris Mariscal each had three hits, as the Arkansas Travelers beat the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 8-3 on Monday.

Amaral doubled and singled twice, scoring two runs. Taylor singled three times, scoring two runs.

Arkansas took the lead in the first when Joey Curletta hit an RBI single and then scored on a two-run double by Mariscal.

NW Arkansas answered in the bottom of the inning when Samir Duenez hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to two.

The Travelers later added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings and one in the sixth to secure the victory.

Arkansas right-hander Ashton Goudeau (4-5) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on five hits over six innings. Opposing starter Ian Kennedy (01) took the loss in the Texas League game after a rough outing in which he allowed six runs and seven hits over four innings.

Despite the loss, NW Arkansas is 20-8 against Arkansas this season.

TULSA 6, SPRINGFIEL­D 2 DJ Peters hit a two-run home run and had two hits, and Mitchell White pitched six scoreless innings as the Tulsa Drillers topped the Springfiel­d Cardinals 6-2 on Monday. White (6-7) allowed four hits while striking out four to pick up the win.

Tulsa started the scoring in the first inning when Peters hit a two-run home run.The Drillers later added two runs in both the fourth and ninth innings. In the fourth, Peters and Jacob Scavuzzo scored on a double play, while Scavuzzo and Zach Reks hit solo home runs in the ninth.

Evan Kruczynski (2-3) went five innings, allowing four runs and four hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out five and walked four.

MIDLAND 5, FRISCO 1

Skye Bolt had two hits and scored two runs as the Midland RockHounds topped the Frisco RoughRider­s 5-1 on Monday.

Trailing 1-0, the RockHounds took the lead for good with three runs in the first inning. Brett Vertigan and Luis Barrera both drove in runs en route to the tworun lead.

The RockHounds later tacked on a run in both the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth, Seth Brown scored on a wild pitch, while J.P. Sportman hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Bolt in the seventh. Frisco missed a scoring opportunit­y in the eighth, when Destin Hood hit into a double play with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Midland right-hander Ben Bracewell (57) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on eight hits over seven innings. Opposing starter Pedro Payano (5-10) took the loss in the Texas League game after giving up three runs and four hits over five innings. CORPUS CHRISTI 8,

SAN ANTONIO 1 Josh Rojas homered and had three hits, driving in two as the Corpus Christi Hooks beat the San Antonio Missions 8-1 on Monday. San Antonio tied the game 1-1 in the second after Matthew Batten hit an RBI single, scoring Michael Gettys.

The Hooks took the lead with five runs in the sixth inning, including a two-run double by Chas McCormick and an RBI single by Eduardo de Oleo. Starter Brett Adcock (4-2) got the win while Jason Jester (2-4) took the loss in relief in the Texas League game.

For the Missions, Batten singled twice, also stealing a base.
