BELLA VISTA — Agnes

“Elaine” Hietbrink passed away Sept. 5, 2018, at the age of 87. She was born to Henry A. and Bertha De Beer Jonker in Sanborn, Iowa, on Sept. 25, 1930.

She graduated from Orange City, Iowa, High School in 1947. She married Bernard E. Hietbrink on March 16, 1951. She was an administra­tive secretary at the South Dakota Art Museum retiring in 1992 and moved to Bella Vista in 1994.

She was an accomplish­ed seamstress and did fine needlework. With her husband, she visited all 50 states and many of the countries of the world. Elaine enjoyed music and was a member of the Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista, the Chancel Choir, an ordained elder and an active member of Presbyteri­an Women.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Arthur (Carolyn), brother-inlaw, Kenneth Pluim, and sonin-law, Elgene Jacobs.

She is survived by her husband Bernard, four children, Deanne Jacobs, Beth (Charles) Curry, Laura (Ross) Rames, Bernard D. (Melissa) Hietbrink, nine grandchild­ren, nine great-grandchild­ren, brother, Wilfred (Gertrude), sister, Faye Pluim, and brother, Terence (Jan).

A memorial service will be held at the Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista under the direction of Pastor Dennis Ritchie on Monday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista’s music fund.

BELLA VISTA —

Betty Louise Paulsen, 86, of Bella Vista, Ark., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 5, 2018, at Highland Health and Rehabilita­tion.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Emerson, daughter, Marcia Walter, and son-in-law Carl of St. Louis, Mo. She had one grandchild, Candie Cortopassi, and her husband Josh, and one great-grandchild, Louis, of Birmingham, Ala. Betty cherished her relationsh­ips with her nieces and nephews, and other family members, as well as friendship­s that enriched her life.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. at Bella Vista Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor David Brown and Pastor Joe Baker officiatin­g.

DECATUR — Dean L.

Amos, 93, of Decatur, Ark., died Sept. 5, 2018, at Apple Creek Health and Rehab, in Centerton, Ark. Born Feb. 1,

1925, in Decatur, Ark., he was the son of Lester Amos and Mabel Chambers Amos.

Dean was a lifelong resident of Decatur and married Sylvia Hutton Dill on July 22, 1995. He was a cattle rancher and was active on the farm until he was 91.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, his first wife, Betty Foster, his second wife, Pat Bilbe, and grandson, Brian.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia of the home; sons, Harvey Amos and wife Nancy of Sulphur Springs, Ark., Lester Amos and wife Cheryl of Decatur, Ark.; Clark Amos of Decatur, Ark., Jerald Amos and wife Connie of Colcord, Okla., and Merrill Amos of Colcord, Okla.; daughters, Marilyn Gosnell and husband Don of Tulsa, Okla., and Carolyn Mercer and husband Ray of Bentonvill­e, Ark.; 18 grandchild­ren; 23 great-grandchild­ren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Ark. Burial will follow at Falling Springs Cemetery, Decatur, Ark. FARMINGTON — Ed Chappell, 59, of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, in Fayettevil­le. He was born July 15, 1959, in Bellflower, Calif., to Troy and Alpha Stout Chappell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Joe Chappell; and stepfather, Leonard Reese.

Ed was the telecommun­ications manager at Washington Regional Medical Center for many years. He loved to fish, golf, ride motorcycle­s and enjoyed camping. He was a “Superman” to his daughters and grandchild­ren.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Caselman Chappell of the home; two daughters, Carrie Chappell Waggoner and husband, Jason of Porter, Texas, and Lacey Chappell Gordon and husband, Kevin of Farmington; a brother, Carlton “Corky” Chappell and wife, Dorise; a sister, Betty Jo; four grandchild­ren, Kenyan and Lainey Waggoner, Kaylee Youngblood and Addyson Gordon; nephew, Larry Ray Chappell and wife, Christina; and many other nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Farmington Cemetery with Randall Caselman and Bill Hooten officiatin­g under the direction of Beard’s Chapel. Song services will be by Jason Waggoner. There is no scheduled visitation.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Frank

Bernard Burggraf III, died Sept. 6, 2018, after an extended illness. Born to Jane Martin and Frank Bernard Burggraf, Jan. 30, 1958, at the University of Pennsylvan­ia Hospital, Philadelph­ia, Pa.

He graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, N.Y., in 1975 and from SUNY College of Environmen­tal Science and Forestry at Syracuse, N.Y., with a BS in 1979.

He is survived by his parents of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; his sister, Helen Roberts of London, England; and brother, John of Deltona, Fla.

ROGERS — Dorothy Marie (Inman) Lockhart

enjoyed history and genealogy. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and various local genealogic­al societies.

SPRINGDALE — Laura

L. Allen, 79, of Springdale passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born July 5, 1939, in Springdale to Earl Kelso Garrison Sr. and Mary Ella Robinson.

Laura was a homemaker and she was passionate about helping others by being an AA sponsor.

For over 31 years she helped literally hundreds of people to achieve and maintain sobriety. She loved crocheting, cross stitching and making Christmas Stockings for grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Benny) Allen, her parents, one grandson, Jason Bell, three sisters, Juanita Elliott, Merle Bookout, Leila McCarty, one brother, Dale Garrison and one son in law, Mike Harris.

Survivors include one son, Robert Dean Allen of Oregon, three daughters, Lucinda A. Webb and husband Jack of Oregon, Dorothy Mabry and husband Danny of Springdale and Becky Jones of Texas; two brothers, Earl Garrison, II and wife Mary of Springdale and Garry Garrison and wife Bonnie of Missouri; nine grandchild­ren, Heather Dizney and husband Brian, Crystal Walker and husband Ben, Corey Mabry and wife Corena, Keith Allen and wife Lek, Halley Lunderman and husband Jake, Elijah Allen and wife Vanessa, Teagan Hendricks and husband Austin, Michael Jones and Travis Harris and 17 great-grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Pastor Mark Krause officiatin­g. Burial will follow in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Springdale. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

SPRINGDALE — Mansford Fay Harriman,

89, of Springdale, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018.

He was born July 6, 1929, in Japton to George Newton and Etta Louisa Spurlock Harriman.

Fay was honorably discharged from the Army after serving in the Korean War. He was then employed by Jones Trucking for 31 years as a diesel mechanic. Fay was a member of the Pleasant Street Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed gardening, woodworkin­g, fishing, and was devoted to his family.

Fay is survived by his wife, Nellie “Nell” Harriman; one son, Terry Harriman and wife Donna of Springdale; one granddaugh­ter, Kala Rath and husband David; and twin great-granddaugh­ters, Maggie and Blair Rath, all of Fayettevil­le.

Fay was preceded in death by two brothers, Nolen Harriman and Ray Harriman, and three sisters, Zora Harriman, Joy Dell Harriman, and Nola Reed.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Pleasant Street Church of Christ with internment at Mount Olive Cemetery in Elkins at 2 p.m. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home, online obituary at www.heritageof­nwa.com.

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Yat Kong Lam was born on April 11, 1939, and passed from this life on Aug. 27, 2018.

Yat is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mee Wan Lam; children, Grace Carr and husband Claude of Tulsa, Okla., Marion Roller and husband David of Rogers, Ark., Sandra Nichols and husband Alan from Milton, Ga., and Gloria Young and husband Paul from Gambrills, Md.; grandchild­ren, Jason Roller, Elizabeth Roller, Daniel Nichols, Amber Young, Lauren Young, Audrey Nichols, Samuel Carr, and Matthew Nichols; and his brother, Goodrich Lam.

He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfathe­r. He was born in Guangdong (Canton), China during WWII and moved to Hong Kong when he was 10 years old. He met his future wife, Mee Wan, in middle school. They would both go to Australia for college, work, get married, and have three daughters.

In 1966, they immigrated to Manhattan, N.Y., to reunite with family. Yat worked long hours in restaurant­s. In 1968, He opened their first restaurant in Woodmere, N.Y. He enjoyed being an entreprene­ur and small business owner there for 10 years. During that time, he and his family became U.S. citizens and had a fourth daughter.

In 1978, becoming restless with New York and looking for new opportunit­ies, Yat visited a good friend in Northwest Arkansas who helped him find a market for Chinese restaurant­s in that area.

He moved the family to Rogers, Ark., and went on to own and operate four restaurant­s and taught culinary classes at a local college. He built long lasting friendship­s with neighbors, customers, and the community for the next 20 years. After 30-plus years in the restaurant business, Yat sold his businesses and retired with Mee to warm Cape Coral, Fla. They have lived there for 22 years.

A visitation will be held Sept. 8, 2018 from 10 a.m. to noon at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, Fla., 33913, with a funeral service to follow.
