BENTON COUNTY

Word of Life Fellowship in Bentonville, 808 S.W. 14th St., plans a “Back to Church Sunday” at 10 a.m. Sept. 16. The day will include lunch, games and family activities.

Life Church in Bentonville, 211 S.E. Walton Blvd., opens its first Northwest Arkansas location and its second Arkansas church. The first services start at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Four Points by Sheridan.

Services include “high energy” but casual worship and biblical teaching via a live broadcast by Craig Groeschel, senior pastor. LifeKids curriculum, developed by Life Church, is offered for children ages birth to sixth-graders.

First United Methodist Church in Rogers, 307 W. Elm St., presents Bishop Minerva Garza Carcano speaking Sept 29-30 as part of the church’s Lewis Lecture Series. Carcano is the first Hispanic woman elected to the episcopacy of the United Methodist Church and an advocate for immigration reform and inclusion of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

Carcano will speak on immigration reform in America at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29. She will address “A Way Forward in the United Methodist Church” during the worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 30.

Village Bible Church in Bella Vista, 1591 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a new women’s Bible study, “The Grace of God,” which considers what grace is, what it’s not and how it should impact lives. The class will meet at 9 a.m. every Tuesday, beginning Sept. 18.

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., starts its Life Groups on Sunday. Small groups meet every week for a more in-depth study.

The church Foundation sponsors a picnic at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 16. Participants can sing along with the church’s Gospel Band and Gospel 4 after the meal.

Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rogers, 2305 S. Dixieland Road, offers a study on the liturgy at 7 p.m. each Tuesday and a congregational Bible study at 7 p.m. Sept. 26.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 12 McKissick Creek Road, Suite 1210, Bentonville, offers a “Courage to Heal” service at 7 p.m. Wednesday to kick off the Unity World Day of Prayer, a 24-hour prayer vigil. The in-depth meditation focuses on healing one’s self, the community and the world.

United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, offers a new adult education series on the 27 books of the New Testament, led by the Rev. Fred Nelson. The class begins at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Classes also will meet after the worship service Sunday an at 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday.

The plans Rally Day with a free “Cowboy Picnic” at 4 p.m. Sunday. The event will feature a trick roper.

The Breakfast Club meets at 8 a.m. Monday, with Louise Wobig speaking.

The church offers a Bible study, “The Means of Grace-Baptism” at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a “Senior Safety Academy” from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 8. Topics include identity theft, local scams, elder abuse, Medicare fraud, prescription drug safety and more. Breakfast and lunch are provided for those who register with the church.

The church operates the Shepherd’s Food Pantry from 10 a.m. to noon each Friday. The pantry needs donations of peanut butter, jelly, sugar-free Jello, hearthealthy soup, 12-count egg cartons and Best Choice PVC labels.

Millwood Christian Church in Rogers, 3450 W. Pleasant Grove Road, plans a Bingo night at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Money raised will support the Go 7 ministry of the church, which distributes personal care and hygiene items to those in need.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

The Al-Islam Students Association in Fayetteville holds its annual blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the Verizon Ballroom of the Arkansas Union at the University of Arkansas. The Ahmadiyya Muslim communities across the United States hold blood drives to honor the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The group also plans a memorial observance from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, also in the Verizon Ballroom. UA Chancellor Joseph Steinemetz, Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan and Imam Ahmad will speak.
