■ Kaylee Foster, a senior at Ocean Springs High School in Mississippi, was crowned homecoming queen and then put on her helmet and helped her school football team claim an overtime victory by kicking the game-winning extra point.

■ Elise Conroy, 27, of New Jersey, was sentenced to five years of probation on an aggravated assault charge for pouring antifreeze into some juice and giving it to her 83-year-old grandmother, who didn’t drink it because it “tasted weird.”

■ Roy Moore, who lost a Senate bid in Alabama after several women said he pursued sexual relationships with them when they were teens and he was in his 30s, is dropping a defamation lawsuit against a super PAC that ran a campaign ad blitz focused on the accusations against him.

■ Brandon Conrad, 15, and Malik Page, 17, pleaded guilty to fatally beating Kevin Cullen, 57, a homeless man in Philadelphia who was stomped and kicked in his head and face.

■ Rita Reith, a spokesman for the Indianapolis Fire Department, said that after firefighters got a two-story house fire under control, they learned about a pregnant 21-year-old woman in labor next door, and fire agency medics helped deliver the baby in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

■ Lee Foster, the sheriff in Newberry County, S.C., said a new panic button app being installed on every teacher’s cellphone in his county will alert police, paramedics, firefighters and school administrators, and call 911 when pressed, saving valuable seconds in an emergency.

■ Leishi Tang, 26, of Columbia, Mo., who posted a video of herself scolding her pet Corgi for trying to run away as she beats it with a thick rope, voluntarily surrendered the dog and was sentenced to 20 days of home detention after pleading guilty to animal abuse.

■ Philip Snider, 73, of Canton, Ohio, pleaded guilty to killing his wife, initially telling police that he dumped her body in the Tennessee River, then changed his story and said he put it in a dumpster in Kentucky, leading authorities to believe the body likely ended up in a nearby landfill.

■ Jalen Darrel Bonner of Birmingham, Ala., was arrested on a sexual abuse charge after a woman told authorities that a man wearing only socks grabbed her from behind, putting his arms around her waist as she walked from her backyard into her house and ran away when she turned around.
