Blood center seeks donors

The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks strives for area blood reserves to be at around a three-day supply for all blood types. At the time of this release, the blood center reserves show a less than two-day supply of type O positive, O negative and A positive blood. Since it takes around 200 donations per day to meet area needs, the public, especially type O positive and A positive donors, are urged to continue to help by donating at a CBCO blood drive or donor center near them.

Red Cross seeks blood

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this September, the American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood to support kids, teens and young adults battling cancer, as well as others in need of transfusio­ns.

Blood and platelet donors of all blood types, especially type O negative and O positive, are urgently needed to replenish the blood supply following a critical summer blood shortage.

Book tour continues

JuliAnne Murphy, Springdale native and national author, continues her cross-country book tour with stops in Northwest Arkansas.

Murphy’s memoir, Dream Job: Shattering the Glass Ceiling Comes at a Price, was named a No. 1 New Release by Amazon. Released by Mascot Books in June, Dream Job chronicles Murphy’s time traveling the world with diplomats, presidents, royalty and world leaders, tumultuous experience­s joining an internatio­nal developmen­t team as the only woman in leadership and the unanticipa­ted struggles she encountere­d and overcame.

Murphy’s book tour began in Little Rock in August and continues in Northwest Arkansas through Sept. 16 before heading west with stops in Colorado and Arizona. A listing of roundtable discussion­s, book signings, Q&A sessions and other events include:

■ Sept. 12: 7 a.m.-10 a.m., meet and greet at Red Barn Donuts in Rogers.

■ Sept. 13: 4-6 p.m., meet and greet and book signing at Hello Local in Springdale.

VA to host documentar­y

Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks is set to hold a viewing of the documentar­y “Suicide: The Ripple Effect” at 11 a.m. Sept. 13 in the building 3 auditorium, at the medical center in Fayettevil­le.

This feature-length documentar­y film focuses on the effects of suicide and the ripple effects of hope, inspiratio­n and advocacy that are helping many stay alive and heal. This film is being shown in conjunctio­n with Suicide Prevention Month as the VA continues efforts to end suicide among veteran patients.
