BELLA VISTA — Marguerite VanMeter, 86 of Bella Vista passed away Sept. 14, 2018. Marguerite was born in Kansas City, Kan., to William and Marguerite Eubank on Jan. 14, 1932. She was married to Charles VanMeter on Nov. 5, 1955, in Shawnee, Kan.

Marguerite retired from Write Rogers in 2002 and enjoyed her retirement in Bella Vista.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Wilma and El Frieda and brother William and is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles VanMeter, her three children Marvin, Carl and wife Rhonda and Raymond, two grandchild­ren Allen and Jessica, two sisters, Carol and Martha Sue and husband Leo Moroney.

BENTONVILL­E — Mrs. Rosalie Evon Jennings, 80, stepped into Heaven on Sept. 17, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e, Ark. Born in Neosho, Mo., to Lloyd and Viola Jeffers, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bruce, Edward, Jerry and Bobby Jeffers and Dorothy Allen.

Rosalie’s enduring love of music started early in her life, beginning with a Christmas performanc­e at age 5 in the Municipal Auditorium in Neosho with her sister, Janice, to welcome soldiers returning from the war to Camp Crowder.

Later in life, she worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, always comforting and caring for her co-workers, as well as her patients. While working full-time, she still managed to write, produce, record, and perform her music all over the country, including the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. One of her songs, “Big Girls Don’t Cry” went to No. 2 on the Country Music Charts and Billboard Magazine, promoted by Higgins Music Group from Nashville. She rubbed elbows with industry profession­als, including Mickey Moody and The Gaithers.

She and husband, Gary, managed property for Lindsey Properties, Inc. all over Northwest Arkansas, including Brentwood apartments, Moberly Manor, Park apartments, and The Links in Lowell, retiring in 2003, which allowed for more time to concentrat­e on her music. They traveled to nursing homes, state fairs, and churches in more than 40 states to lead Bible conference­s, healing services, and revivals in partnershi­p with some of their dearest friends in ministry.

Survivors include her husband, Gary, of Centerton, sisters Lloydene Hulsey and Virginia Putman of Neosho and Janice Mitchell, of Anderson, Mo. Surviving children are Eldon (Pam) Long of Lowell, Dennis (Twila) Long of Decatur, Tim Long of Highfill, and Tina Long, also of Highfill. Also included are eight grandchild­ren, and 11 great grandchild­ren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside service for Mrs. Jennings will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Vincent Xavier officiatin­g. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 1201 NE Legacy Village Parkway, Bentonvill­e, Ark., 72712.

CENTERTON — Clyde Ernest Herndon of Centerton went to be with his Lord on Sept. 19, 2018. He was born April 7, 1932, in Tulsa, Okla., to the late Ernest and Eunice Herndon.

Clyde was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served overseas in the Korean War. During his time in Northwest Arkansas, both he and his wife, Virginia, worked as custodians in the Gravette Public Schools. He was a member of God’s Lighthouse Church in Bentonvill­e, and acted as church treasurer for many years. He will be remembered as a faithful Christian.

His survivors include his wife, Virginia Estes Herndon, whom he married on June 15, 1956, in Tulsa; children, Steven Herndon (Debbie) of Centerton, Karen Spurlock (Steven) of Huntsville, Jeffrey Herndon (Kim) of Nolensvill­e, Tenn.; grandchild­ren, Shandale Herndon, Heather Jenkins, Christophe­r Herndon, Dereck Herndon, Kristy Sapp, Andrea Taylor, Ron Hatfield, Dayton Herndon; 13 great-grandchild­ren; and sisters, Wanda Downen and Barbara Herndon, both of Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter, Cathy Sue Herndon.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonvill­e. Funeral services at 10 a.m. on Saturday at God’s Lighthouse, 2803 SW 14th St, Bentonvill­e. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Barnsdall, Okla.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Norman Scott Hadley of Fayettevil­e died Friday Sept. 14, 2018, at his residence. He was a University of Arkansas driver for 20 years. FAYETTEVIL­LE — Margaret Thompson, age 82, of Fayettevil­le, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, in Fayettevil­le. She was born March 26, 1936, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Kenner and Frances Ellen Ferguson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Flem Thompson; a son, Ronald Wayne Thompson Sr. and a daughter-in-law, Carrie Thompson. She was a retired employee of the Campbell Soup Company and was of the Pentecosta­l faith.

She is survived by a daughter, Frances Breedlove and her husband Phil of Topeka, Kan.; four sons, George Thompson of Fayettevil­le, Jacob Thompson and his wife Velma of Fayettevil­le, Raymond Thompson and his wife Lisa of Fayettevil­le and Samual Thompson and his wife Tabitha of Fayettevil­le; a brother, Donald Ferguson of Kansas; 11 grandchild­ren and 17 great-grandchild­ren.

HUNTSVILLE — Candace Fay Davis, 69, of Huntsville died Sept. 12, 2018. ROGERS — Ms. Tonya Lannette Carpenter, age 51, of Rogers, Ark., left this earthly home and entered her Heavenly home on Sept. 10, 2018, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Ark. Tonya was born Aug. 24, 1967, in Harrison, Ark., to Tommy Hugh Carpenter and Mary Lou Carpenter.

Ms. Carpenter is survived by both her parents, Tommy Hugh and Mary Lou Carpenter and one sister, Renee Annette Carpenter-Houde, a brother-in-law, Martin Houde and nephew, Andre Robert Houde of St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. Tonya was a lover of life and a giver of love, on loan to us by God — an angel from above.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, from 6-8 p.m., at Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home. ROGERS — Sandra Adams Walsh, 79, of Rogers passed away in Mercy Hospital on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018. Sandra was born on Jan. 11, 1939, in Fayettevil­le to R.A. (Red) and Mildred Adams.

She was a graduate of Rogers High School and attended the University of Arkansas.

She met the love of her life, Thomas Gerald Walsh, in April, 1957, and they were married on June 22, 1958. They celebrated 60 years together this past June.

She had been a member of the Downtown Church of Christ since 1953 and taught bible classes for children for 15 years. She taught at Evergreen Children’s Academy for 10 years and worked in sales at Walsh’s Department Store for seven years. Sandra was a faithful Christian and homemaker. She loved her family. Her four grandchild­ren were her pride and joy. Sandra’s greatest pleasure was cooking for her family, always putting others’ needs and wishes ahead of hers.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Sandra is survived by her husband, Thomas Gerald Walsh of the home; three children, Gerald Wayne (G.W.) and wife, Pam Walsh of Rogers, Bob Walsh of Rogers, Linda and husband Chris Holtgrewe of Pea Ridge; four grandchild­ren, Sydney Walsh of Fayettevil­le, Kaitlyn Walsh of Rogers, Wyatt Holtgrewe of Pea Ridge, Hayden Holtgrewe of Fayettevil­le; and many friends and relatives.

WESLEY — David Harwood, 66, of Wesley, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at his home. He was born Nov. 26, 1951, in Fayettevil­le to Rowe and Vitis McCarver Harwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Harwood; and a sister, Jeanie Shinn and her husband, Gene.

David attended the University of Arkansas where he obtained his Ph.D. in molecular genetics. He spent 13 years as a research scientist at Campbell Soup. He enjoyed serveral years teaching chemistry at his alma mater, Huntsville High School. David returned to research and developmen­t and finished his career at Foster Farms in Turlock, Calif.

David, an avid Razorback fan, was able to move home to Northwest Arkansas in 2011. He enjoyed reading, attending Razorback games and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Harwood of the home; a daughter, Leigh Evans and husband, Matt; stepsons, Jeremy McCurdy and Lincoln McCurdy; stepdaught­er, Lindsey Pittman and husband, Matt; four grandchild­ren, Emma and Aiden Evans and Yunice and Tama Pittman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A casual memorial gathering will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at the home of Terry and Christy McConnell, 1515 Circle Dr., Springdale, Ark., 72764.
