Turkey shoot benefits firefighte­rs

The 25th annual Northeast Benton County fire department turkey shoot and rib luncheon is Saturday at the main fire station, U.S. 62 and Wimpy Jones Road in Garfield.

Frozen turkeys will be awarded to successful shotgun shooters in clay bird and poker categories. There is an archery category.

Other activities include a cornhole tournament, bingo, an auction, prize drawings and the Daisy BB gun range.

Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $9, or $5 for children 10 and younger. For more informatio­n call 479-359-3134.

Event welcomes trap shooters

Bella Vista Assembly of God church will host the third annual NWA Christian Fellowship Trap Shoot on Saturday. The shoot is at the Bella Vista trap and skeet range, 16301 Rocky Dell Hollow Road in Gravette.

Cost is $35 per person and includes shotgun shells. There are adult and youth divisions.

Roses win Guys, Gals tournament

David and Pam Rose won the Beaver Lake Guys and Gals bass tournament held Sept. 16 at Beaver Lake. They had five bass that weighed 9.16 pounds. They also had big bass at 3.12 pounds.

Peyton and Lexi Rose placed second with five bass at 7.74 pounds. Wayne and Linda Dirck were third with four bass at 6.28 pounds.

Meador first at Beaver Lake

Steven Meador won the Beaver Lake Elite Series bass tournament held Sept. 15 with five bass at 13.03 pounds.

Curt Clark was second with four bass at 12.87 pounds. He had big bass at 5.69 pounds. Marcus Brandenbur­g placed third with five bass at 11.5 pounds.

Fourth through 10th, all with five bass, were: fourth, Gordon Harriman, 11.69; fifth, Greg Sapp, 11.14; sixth, Justin Hoffman, 11.04; seventh, David Louks, 10.24; eighth, Allen Westfall, 9.89; ninth, Lee McLean, 9.14; 10th, Keith Brashers, 8.43.

Tournament director James Whittle said most fish were caught with top-water lures early, then jigs, plastic worms and spinner baits later.

Foundation hosts dinner

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Foundation will hold its second annual “Into the Wild” wild game supper and auction at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Springdale Airport, 718 S. Old Missouri Road.

Tickets are $125 or $1,000 for a table. Money raised helps fund the foundation’s programs and initiative­s for youth. For tickets visit agff.org.

Groups partner for lake cruises

Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society and Hobbs State Park-Conservati­on Area will host two-hour cruises this fall on the park’s pontoon boat to see loons and other birds at Beaver Lake.

Trips are set for Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and Nov. 11. They depart from Rocky Branch Marina at 10 a.m. Experience­d birders with Audubon will be on board to help identify birds.

Cost is $10. Register by calling the park visitor center, 479-7895000.
