BENTON COUNTY
First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville, 901 N.E. J St., presents the Rev. Andrea White speaking Oct. 7 as part of the church’s annual Clabaugh lecture series. White, an associate professor of theology and culture at Union Theological Seminary in New York, will speak on topics of justice and human dignity.
White will preach at the 10:15 a.m. worship service, followed by lunch and a lecture. She will speak on racial issues at 6:30 p.m.

First Baptist Church in Bentonville, 220 S. Main St., hosts a “Worship Night” by the Dove-award winning group Passion at 7 p.m. Oct. 13. Louie Giglio will teach, and Trip Lee will provide music. Admission is $40 for deluxe seating, $25 for general admission and $20 for a family and friends four-pack.

First United Methodist Church in Rogers, 307 W. Elm St., presents Bishop Minerva Garza Carcano speaking today and Sunday as part of the church’s Lewis Lecture Series. Carcano is the first Hispanic woman elected to the episcopacy of the United Methodist Church and an advocate for immigration reform and inclusion of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.
Carcano will speak on immigration reform in America at 6:30 p.m. today. She will address “A Way Forward in the United Methodist Church” during the worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., offers a seven-week Bible study for women based on Missing Pieces: Real Hope When Life Doesn’t Make Sense by Jennifer Rothschild. The class meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or
6 to 8 p.m. starting Thursday. Cost is $13.
The church plans a maze of themed trunks during its Trunk or Treat celebration from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.

United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, plans an “Art ’n’ Luther” painting party at 6 p.m. Friday. Cost is $10 for a canvas and supplies.

Millwood Christian Church in Rogers, 3450 W. Pleasant Grove Road, will serve lunch at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Seven Hills Homeless Shelter in Fayetteville. Donations of food or money are welcome.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., plans only one service, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The church plans no Sunday school or adult classes. The church also offers a worship service for those unable to attend a regular service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The church offers a “Senior Safety Academy” from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. Topics include identity theft, local scams, elder abuse, Medicare fraud, prescription drug safety and more. Breakfast and lunch are provided for those who register with the church.
An “Inquirer’s Class” starts at 9:45 a.m. Oct. 7 for people who wish to learn about the church at the Lutheran doctrine.

Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, 901 Jones Road, holds its annual memorial service from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Barn at the Springs, 5392 Highway 112, Springdale. The service will include a candlelighting ceremony, music and spiritual readings in honor of each hospice patient who died in the past year.

Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Fayetteville, 1400 E. Rolling Hills Drive, displays a traveling art exhibit, “Artifacts of Human Trafficking,” featuring the work of Amie Stone King, an artist in Austin, Texas. The exhibit is available through Thursday.

The Jewish Christian Studies Center in Springdale, 903-D W. Johnson Ave., offers a class on “Words of the Bible, Words of Jesus the Messiah” beginning Wednesday. The free class meets from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday. The program will focus on the first five books of the Bible, covers many sayings Jesus quoted and will provide an understanding of Hebrew biblical culture.
The center presents Ronit Bender, a native Israeli, speaking from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Thursday. She also will speak during the morning service from 11 a.m. to noon. Bender ministers to the homeless, prostitutes, drug addicts and overlooked elderly in Tel Aviv
